  • #DidYouKnow that before servicing seniors, Wartburg was once a home for orphans! The Wartburg Orphan Farm School was founded in 1866. In the 1880s the farm consisted of 500 horses, cows, pigs and chickens. We also had corn, rye, wheat, vegetable gardens & orchards. In the early 1920s, WOFS had more than 400 children living on campus. 1200 meals were served each day, with much of the food provided by its own farm and prepared in its kitchen and bakery.
