    REMINDER:
    Multiply by 3 instead of 2.5, use the notch on all of your bends, and when bending start from the first mark that is before your center mark and then continue bending in order. The video explains it best.

    I have one more week of Conduit Bending Class through the IBEW and you’re are one of the reasons I made it through. We did our calculations different with DBB (Distance Between Bends). We did the the traditional DBB and added the OD (Outside Diameter) of the conduit. We used 3/4” RMC so the OD is 1.05”. Bent the 45 and 22.5 on its own center benchmark on the Triple Nickel. Thanks 🙏 again Mel, you’re a blessings! Whenever you’re in Detroit I owe you lunch!

      Can you explain the method you did by adding the OD. Where did you add the OD too? The center mark?

    • @dp6002
      @dp6002 2 года назад +3

      @@TheArtOfConduitBending let’s say the obstruction or rise is 5”. Multiply the 22.5 degree multiplier x the rise of the obstruction which is 13 1/16 (DBB) then add the Outside Diameter (OD) for let’s say 3/4 RMC which will be 1.05 or 1 1/16” so the new DBB is 14 1/8”. The OD will change with conduit trade size and if you’re using RMC or EMT. I can send you the Paperwork he gave us and find out where he got it from.
      The DBB will be from the center (45 degree mark) to the 22.5 degree mark.
      I hope I explained it well

      This is the easiest way to make a3 bend saddle. Especially when you need to make one towards the end of the conduit. The thing that everyone forgets or does wrong is not accounting for shrinkage. 3/16" for every inch rise.

      I'm glad you were able to use the method. It's the best method ever. It's also the best when you want to put a saddle at the end of a conduit because your using the push thru method. Also don't forget this works for electric and hydraulic benders as well. You just need to find the center of 45 degrees and mark it on your bender shoe and you can do the same saddle on any bender for any size conduit.

    I have a custom bend which is an offset, that is also a 3 point saddle. I acheive this in 3 bends. This special bend is for when you have two pipes, running parallel to eachother, and they need to switch places with one another.

      The multiplier is different because you're not facing the bender is a different direction, and you are using the notch for ALL THREE bends instead of your center bend. The multiplier is changing because the place you are bending is a little different.

    Nice vid. Just curious how did you come up with 3 as your multiplier? And do you use the 3 as the multiplier for this method for any different depth of obstruction you may have it’ll work as well? Also is this only good on 45 degree hand benders or it will it work on 30 degree benders as well? @HolmzLaw

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  Год назад +1

      The multiplier 3 is just what it is. I found it after playing around with the numbers for a while. This will not work for any other degree only 45. But it will work for any bender whether electric or hand bender. Just make sure you are bending on 45 center mark. If you are bending on a table or cyclone bender you must find it center of 45 first and use that mark. If you need a push thru method for 30 degree I have a method for that to. Just look it up in my library. Called fast and easy 3 point saddle by holmzlaw.

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  2 года назад

      It's not 3" it's 3. The multiplier is 3 not 3". Anyway your getting hung up on something that isn't important. Just think of it as 3 is the multiplier for my push thru method of 22.5, 45, 22.5 saddles. Push thru method being the key phrase here. Now 2.5 is the multiplier for the standard 22.5, 45, 22.5 saddle. That's all. Don't over think it. You do see the difference in the 2 methods right?

  • @jeffreytoussieng26
    @jeffreytoussieng26 2 года назад +1

    First time I saw this. Good info. The only thing I don't understand is why it has to be A first as center then b and c left and right. Why not make it like the A B C's of the alphabet and do B as the center point then A on the side of the measurement and C on the other side. The arrow is pointing in that direction. So measure, mark center, add shrinkage to B in the arrow direction then measure backwards and forwards from the second B mark for A and C and bend in that order, A then B then C? Seems easier to remember than CAB. Of course it's always whatever works for the individual.

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  2 года назад

      Well the reason is because when you first learn the 3 point saddle the Standard method. You learn to lay it out with the center bend mark being your first mark to lay out which we call "A". It's also the first bend you make. Then "B" comes next and so on. So I'm guessing that in order to make the push through method easy to remember they kept they lay points the same name only thing that changed was the order in which you bend. Because it's push through method you would now bend it C, A, B. Hope this helps.

    Why did you use 3/16'' as your shrink for your center bend and not 3/8'' I thought the shrink for a 45 degree on a 3 point saddle bend was 3/8'' per inch of rise and not 3/16'' per inch of rise

    • @TheArtOfConduitBending
      @TheArtOfConduitBending  Год назад

      No my brother. You see the thing is a 45 deg. Saddle is really a 22.5 degree saddle everyone just calls it 45 deg. Cause well I guess everyone thinks the center bend is what names the bend. I don't know who started that. Anyhow the saddle is really a 22.5 saddle and you double it for the center bend. So you are really supposed to use the shrink for 22.5 degree bend which is 3/16" . If you have been using 3/8" this whole time you probably haven't seen much of a difference but I guarantee you for large saddles after a while it will add up and your saddle will look lop sided.

    followed along the video to the T 3 times and it didn’t work, first bend always ends up at an upward angle

    Bro what would be the math for a 1 inch pipe, 3 point saddle going over a 3/4 pipe? When you do the math times 2.5 or 3, I can’t get enough space for the bends..

      15 30 15 push thru bending with 15 degrees bend it in between the 22.5 mark and 10 mark then when you done tweak it. (if you dont know what push through bending is watch the video but all you need to do is go from first bend to second bend and third bend without flipping the co duit just push it thru and bend you only need to rotate it 180 degrees for the bend marks thats it just watch video.) here is link ruclips.net/video/0Ps5G9wQdls/видео.html
      Multiplier is 4
      Push thru method
      1st bend use star
      2nd bend use notch
      3rd bend use arrow
      Shrink is 1/8" per inch
      11 22.5 11 saddle (if that still aint good use this saddle. Also i know you dont have 11 degrees on your bender just use 10 degrees when you finish put it on the floor and you can see how much you'll need to bend to get it straight.
      Multiplier is 5
      Bend original way
      Center bend on notch till 22.5
      Last 2 bends arrow
      Shrink is 3/16 for every 2 inches
      Hope this helps. Dont forget about me. Subscribe and let your friends know and co-workers. And i want a pic of the saddle when you done.

      Also i know the pipe is 3/4 but give yourself some clearance do at least an inch instead of 3/4 or more.

    Multiplier for a 3 pt saddle is 2.5 for a reason. You went 1.5 back of the pipe where u barely have a good grip on point C, if you would’ve multiplied it by 2.5 you would’ve at least gained 1.5 inches 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ so what was the point of the trick???

      What are yoy talking about. I did that cause i don't have full lengths of conduit. With all do respect just by your remark. I can tell your are new to conduit bending. Or else you would know there are different multipliers for different types of 3 point saddles for example we have multipliers of 2.5, 3, 3.8, 4, even 5. But i just probably confused you so i wont go into detail about it. Listen i appreciate your comment but if you would have read the title or paid attention you would have realized that this 3 point saddle with a multiplier of 3 is for push thru bending not sure if you know what that is. But the style was invented so it would be easy to bend 3point saddles along with other bends in electric and hydraulic benders without having to remove the conduit for every bend you could simply bend and push thru. Not to mention with this trick you could bend a 3 point at the very end of a piece of conduit. You can do that with your normal 2.5 multiplier now can you. Thanks for the comment. I have more videos like this i understand they are long but they have to be in order for me to getmy point across. Thanks. Happy new year.

    At the end of the video..........you didn't show how you had to tweek the bends, and don't try to tell me you didn't.

      When you've have done as many 3 point saddles as I have there's not much tweeking to do. You should know exactly when to stop bending. You'll get there.
