Shout out to everybody here who needed to know "Object to Path". Thanks Troy.
Hi Troy, just want to say thank you for your video tutorials. This one helped me quickly and efficiently, It is appreciated. I also like the fact that you are straight forward and to the point with no idle chit chat... Thank you again
Inkspace seemed so confusing. But damn, this made it so much easier. Perfect directions. You better be a teacher in real life.
Thank you so much! Your video is the only one I watched that explained all the steps and I watched several.
This video is exactly what I was looking for! It was super easy to follow and the end result turned out perfect. Thank you!
Just what I needed. Thank you. I enjoy your teaching and video editing style. You give enough explanation for why each step is required and you don't waste time. Bravo!
For the people that wonder, this works with uploading svg text images to gt sport as well. Great video.
just started using inkscape, you're tutorials are awesome
im so glad i found your videos!! I've been wanting to make my "cursive letters" connect. thank you!!
Seriously - TroyTube to the rescue. I need to do your Inkscape course ASAP.

Thank you for such a simple yet super helpful video!!!
Super helpful! Been wanting to know how to simply create my own svg’s. Thank you!
such a helpful video for a beginning Inkscape user, thank you!!
Well done! Important basic information.
Thank you for this Troy. It was helpful.
You are a life saver sir!!! Keep it up & thanks a lot! Cheer's
First I want to say thank you so much all of your tutorials are amazing! Also, even after I did these steps when I uploaded it into design space it says "The uploaded SVG contained the following items that are not supported: Auto flow text." However when I click continue it all shows up. Thanks!
Very helpful! Thanks!
Thanks this video was really helpful
I followed this to a T with curved text I created in Inkscape. When I uploaded the SVG into DS it says it does not support the font even though it said it converted my file to DS. Nothing shows up on my canvas. I want to cut vinyl to put on a plate. HELP!!!
I feel like a love you! omg you are so nice pearson for share and also good teaching! thank you so much nd god bless u
Do you have a video that shows how to edit the file? I made one and the y from one line dipped into the day from the line below it and I did not realize until after I had saved the file
Thank you! This worked well for me, but on images that have lots of lines of text, it seems to not work after doing it for the first group. Any ideas?
Great video... thank you.x
I really enjoy and learn alot from your videos. There is some info I cannot find on the internet but I bet you would know the answer. Are there any writing fonts on the internet for the cricut machine? I mean a writing font not a cut font that looks like writing. Cricut has fonts they call writing fonts but they just make bubble letters, which I do not like.
Thank you for your videos, I would be lost without them! Although I followed you step by step in the video many, many times my .svg files are still showing as black squares in my download files. They are there and usable but I'm wondering if there's a solution? Thank you for any help you can be
Thank you so much this video was very helpful. I just started an Etsy account and want to sell sayings in svg. I used the information from your video to make one and save it as an svg. When I uploaded it to Cricut design space to test it out before putting in my store it came up with an error. I did some research on google and a lot of the post said that images and text made in Inkscape don’t Transfer to Cricut design space. Unfortunately they give no advise for how to fix the problem or other software to use instead of Inkscape. I want to make sure that I am selling a quality product and not something that is going to cause my customers difficulty. Do you have any advise or suggestions to help with my text problem. I have photoshop and have been using Inkscape a little bit. Thank you for your help I look forward to hearing from you.
Great info!!! Thank you! Do u have more Inkscape tutorials?
hi! do you have a video of creating in design space and then getting it into inkscape? I have designs that I created in design space and would like to make them files to sell on my etsp shop. Can you help? Thank you
thank you good sir!
I need help. Trying to create a saying, 6x1" long and have my lock set on that measurement, and trying to export it as a PNG file. Went through everything as far as putting it on a path, checking the nodes, ungrouping, union the path to weld it, etc and then exporting it as a PNG file. But when I go to open it up in Print Shop, it has not kept its size, its like half the size, and enlarging it only makes it fuzzy. What am I doing wrong??!!!
This process is to make the font a "cut" in design space? This will not just print or write? I'm looking on how to print or write cursive fonts in design space. Thank you for this though!
how do you import glyphs or special characters in this program?
Hello. Could you please show/explain how to make the numbers to be the same size as the text? I'm trying to make PSN Tags to upload on GT Sport, but can't figure out why the numbers type smaller than the text. eg: His-Name_is247420
Thank you.
I just created an outline for a font in Inkscape. When I follow your directions for putting text into Cricut Design Space, it looks as though it has loaded only an outline (as I created on Inkscape) but it loads onto the workspace screen as filled in font! Its so weird! Have you ever heard of this or do you have advice?
hello everytime i save mine text image only a quarter of it shows what do i need to do i have actually done this before and ive uploaded it and added it to a tshirt, i dont understand what happening. Ive followed you step by step as well., bt all of my text is not showing
Thank you
good lesson
Can anyone offer any help on importing glyphs or special characters???
How do you bend text so that it sits on on arc?
thanks
HI TROY I SELECTED THE TEXT TOOL BUT MY TEXT IS NOT VISIBLE. PLEASE HELP
If I create and image using the font in Inkscape and an image that I previously created in Inkscape how come when I load into cricut design space as a print and cut it's comes out all blurry? What am I doing wrong?
+Kristal Rogers if it's loading as a PTC then you are not saving it as an SVG
I got to uploading it and my design space looks alot different I can't even pull it up
HELP!! I did exactly what you said but when I upload the text into CDS, it says that text elements are not supported. I created the text, clicked on it and did object to path. I can see that each letter is separate nodes, but still gives me an error but if I hit "ok anyway" it does upload it and seems to be fine. But I can't create and sell svg files that give a text element error upon upload. Did I do something wrong?
THANK
Any svg that I make with text in inkscape always says text not supported. Even after I turn it into a path and ungroup and then combine. Do you know why?
I am not sure, but the same thing is happening to me.
I just selected that same text I made the way the video said, then I went to export ping and it worked! if you need more details, let me know!
Are you saying that you exported the png and then traced the png?
Great video without a bunch of fluff....just the facts. My only problem is that when I create the design in Inkscape it is about 5 inches wide, but when I upload to Design Space it is 115 inches wide. Any ideas?

I keep getting a blank in my uploaded texts....what am I doing wrong? I used Inkscape, main font and cricut.
I tried this with a script font and it looks fine when I save it in Inkscape. It uploads to DS with no errors but once in DS the font is much thicker. Not sure what I'm doing wrong?
What version of Inkscape are you using? You can find it in Help / About.
.92
I had this issue and had to go back to 0.91
www.651vinyl.com/how-to-install-inkscape-windows-or-mac.html
Ok I installed the older version and same issue. So I decided to actually cut the design out on cardstock and it's totally fine. It must just be how it shows up in DS perhaps has something to do with what browser? I'm not sure but good to know! Thanks so much Troy. Yesterday I started a free trial of Illustrator and started watching their tutorials and could not follow them... and I have a teaching degree! Your videos are awesome. :-)
Can I use this font to sell an svg commercially?
Any font you buy or download should have a license agreement that details how it can be used. Commercial license can sometimes mean it's OK to make and sell physical goods or digital goods but sometimes there are additional license details that separate physical and digital goods so make sure you read and understand the license agreement for any font or image. Hope that helps.
I know this is old... but how did you get the font to adjust bigger size?
Click on the object, hold your ctrl key and then with the selection tool you can adjust it like a regular image
This worked often but now it's not working. Every time I try to upload on cricut it gives me an error? Any solutions? it says following Items are not supported. Text elements. - Import anyways?
You are likely missing something if it's not working every time
