@@BarryMckockinah It ended as factory teams started leaning more and more towards gt2, rules got changed to be a bit less insane in 99, didn't help that the only teams that were winning near the end were the aston and corvettes
the list of le mans winners after the c6r and dbr9 were introduced is

10-dbr9
there were other teams, ford gts, saleen s7rs, ferrari 550 and 575, and the lamborghini murchialago.
2009 was the only year where it was only aston and corvette

Always lovely to see a DBR9, I was working for Gigawave Motorsport around 2008 with DBR9 #6 and agree it's one of the best looking racing cars ever.

I remember going to the petit Le Mans with my dad when I was younger and I’ll never forget the Aston martins, they were the absolute loudest cars on the track and I loved it!

The old GT1 was amazing! I was disappointed to learn that they will limit the power of the new "Hypercar" category that would be a new GT1, but with these dumb rules will never be what it was from the 90s back!
I get it. It's kinda my gripe too but they don't have much choice. If they start off without a performance limiter it might be too expensive.
Maybe it is better they start small and slowly release the performance over time.
I agree with you. When the hypercar series was announced I was expecting faster and more exciting cars. But somehow being slower is better in the eyes of the FIA

I just bought a db9 monday on impulse. It was cheaper than both of my C6's. I didn't know they were that cheap lol now im looking at exhaust already. Haven't even slept yet. Im in love with the car! I want to straight pipe it after this video lol sounds wicked

Ummm I like V12s smooth torque/power.. this one sounds mad but I've heard some road versions and they might do some thunderstorms too.. I enjoy race cars but road versions of Aston Martin are mile eaters, coast to coast in comfort and style. I Soo want one.

I was very lucky at a young age to follow with Team Modena that raced these, they had a ground breaking team.. I just wasn't old enough to fully appreciate the time!

Best racing car i've heard is the Lister Storm at Croft. Nothing and i mean nothing on the grid could be heard over the Lister, you could still heard it over at Sunny in sunny out standing at the first turn.

Try to test a Prodrive 550 GT1
The GT1 cars were awesome, but then the money just spiraled out of control to run them, making less teams run in the series, moving to the more affordable GT3.
Archie, you said the Aston sounds the best of all the GT1 cars but remember theres 2 other stunning cars also with V12's and sound amazing. im gonna go out on a limb here and say the Murcielago R-GT is the best sounding GT1 car, the other GT1 car i was thinking as the McLaren F1 GTR

I think that they were in the 500 to 550's, and I think they also had a DB9RS that was a detuned version with 450 to 480...
