If anyone is questioning if this is peak dad performance, the new balance sneaker should tell you everything you need to know.

If you don’t like the part where you scraped the stain, you may be able to wrap some thick twine at the base. It may help the cat climb up and an easier place to scratch too :) and it’s relatively quick and easy to do! ☺️👍

Great idea about how to keep the carpet looking nicer. That's the worst thing about every cat tree we've ever had. They really love their skanky-looking trees.

Rule of thumb, about 3x all material costs, so about $600 on a good day.
No, don't expect to make back the actual labor costs for time put in

The crap that is out there today isn't even close to the quality and effort you put into this. Most is [at best] particleboard if not cardboard. Still costing over $1K.

Did you dry out the wood or treat it for any insects?

Wow! That’s a hilarious cat tree. I’d suggest if you replace a common carpet fabric with jute rug or something not less organic, eco-friendly and loft-style then you could probably could sell it for $1500+

Large limbs [in some cases this is a whole tree] are indeed very heavy, well done getting it level enough to stand on it's own before securing it to a base. I think you did a great job, the colour is nice& natrual it looks very beautiful, fits right in your home & the Cat seems to like it. Though the shelfs look much nicer with the bare wood, I think I prefer the shelf to be fully covered in carpeting, up and under for my two Cats safety when they're rough housing and running around.
I have an old fashion box cutter uses a razor, it's very good at sharp smooth cut, better than a stanley type for neat cuts but that electric sicissors is interesting.
I've been thinking of doing this since 1990 when on Cape Breton Island, a gorgeous flat stone lined beach there [it's likely very different now, sadly] at the request of an artist, people had been erecting drift wood standing up in to the rocks, it was a gorgeous sight to behold. Due to it's location a lot of wood drifted and beached there.
I took one piece back with me, a beautiful silver tone limb about 3 - 4 inch in diameter and almost 6 ft long, sadly I lost it when moving. I really need to do this our indoor cats really need one, the ugly condo and scathing posts have to go they don't serve
the cats or the eye. Thanks for sharing.
Btw, I find ammonia is excellent at removing stain & paint when used asap if one regrets the colour applied.

Hey there! Greetings from Western Australias Southwest. I subscibed because not only did you build an awesome cat tree you are so entertaining to watch. The mistakes made it even better because most people wouldnt admit that they made any at all. I build various structures so can totally relate to this video. Keep the videos coming mate! Youve got a new fan😊

great piece of driftwood! love everything structurally, but i have a sense that your cat may have been deterred from using it because of the toxic wood finishes you used
