It's a very important job you're doing there. You effectively take ancient techniques and put them in the right context in XXIst century. Do the right thing at the right time, simple and strong. Thank you very much.

Is toothpaste technique at 2:31 modern or is that still considered koryu? Just kidding. I enjoy all your videos. Thanks for sharing.

actually it is all about fighting. prior to 1900 dicipline in martial arts was neglegent and unimportant. it was something the individual practitioner/teacher added based on local spiritual practices. for the most part asia and european martial arts were just groups of militias or guilds particing(renaissance compared wiht chinese). or nobels seeking master at arms to teach grappling and weapons play(Japan & medieval german)

no the rules based one v. one fighting was dueling and was emphasized more during times of peace especially in the eras most ppl are familiar with when talking about samurais. battles have rules but not that different from today. in developed countries militaries still teach rule of engagement etc. and though what u say about battles are true, battles themselves were in frequent. there are more details about battles cuz bards like sing about them more.

the formality and uniform wearing is like saying i should only preserve the image of the martial art rather than the actuall practice.
