- Mandarake is a series of stores in Japan that specialize in back issues of manga, vintage toys and fan fiction. Unlike anything we have back in the U.S.
I had to speak softly because many people were shopping and it was a bit like a library.

Ok.. you won a subscription... You are a man of culture for loving Urasawa Naoki.
My favorite of his works is Master Keaton.
Don't know about the music in that place..... But everything looks very organized and fun. Lots of inventory to go through. Looks like a person could have a great time a get lost in there.
you're taking quite the tour! this store is awesome. I am so jealous but in a good way! thank you for letting us take a peek :)
If I had more time, or if I lived here, I could do a mini documentary on some of these places. But I figured it'd be fun to give a quick look as a type of bonus content.
THIS video is awesome skunkape, you are very good at relaying information in a relaxed way.
I wanna go here (and Book Off) so bad.
Last time I went to Japan my Japanese reading skills were pretty terrible. But now I’m ready to dive head first into the world of manga in its original language.
That's cool! I've discovered your channel recently and I'm loving your videos!
Thanks for watching.
Great video. I look forward to seeing what you bring home.
Almost nothing for me, personally. I don't have a lot of money so mostly I'm walking around to temples and just browsing stores. I did use some of my RUclips income to buy some gachapon for an upcoming giveaway.
You know you've become a real man of culture and achieved peak weaboo status when you realize that you recognize the background music playing in Mandarake as he walks around.
Interesting. I never thought I would see fan fiction being sold in an official store. Is any of it good?
Yes, sometimes popular artists will self publish their own ideas if a big publisher doesn't pick it up. And some fan fiction artists go pro.
I also really like Urasawa Naoki! The Mandarake in Shibuya is the best in Tokyo, I think. The one in Ikebukuro has a lot more fringe stuff.
Near the beginning, the book about collecting vintage toys I believe has Shogun Warriors on the cover. Not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure.
It has several toys but yeah, Shogun Warriors are there.
Very cool man, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I'm curious, do they sell English copies?
I didn't see any comics in English. They're focused on back issues for the local crowd. But there's a ton of vintage toys that cross any language barrier.
No jakq is the second not first season of power rangers. The first is goranger.
I never see any Macross or Mospeada...?
Would love to go just to get the following:
A model of the Space Battleship Yamato
1 Getter Robo G figure
1974-1975 Godzilla figure
Do they modern comics ?
Nice
Wow, Japan one ups America in copyright restraint.
Find any good hentai?
