Just a minor correction, the Joseph who was referred to by Ben Carson was not Jesus’ foster father (who lived around 30 BCE - 20 CE) but another biblical character whose name also was Joseph, son of Jacob, who lived around 1500 BCE and was a minister of Egypt under one of the Pharaohs. Stories are told about this Joseph that he did indeed build large granaries to counter famine and help store surplus crops for Pharaoh and Egyptian populous. God bless!

But the Joseph being spoken about here is one of the 10 sons of Jacob. Joseph was left to die on the road by his other brothers they were jealous of the love he was receiving from Jacob. Potiphar a traveller picked him on his way to Egypt and sold him as a slave there. Joseph rose to prominence in Egypt and served as advisor to Pharaoh. At 6:15 Joseph you mentioned is not Jesus' father but another biblical figure whose name was also Joseph who was one of the 12 sons of Jacob aka ISRAEL and it is believed that during his lifetime he served as advisor to a Pharaoh in Egypt. But the Joseph being spoken about here is one of the 10 sons of Jacob. Joseph was left to die on the road by his other brothers they were jealous of the love he was receiving from Jacob. Potiphar a traveller picked him on his way to Egypt and sold him as a slave there. Joseph rose to prominence in Egypt and served as advisor to Pharaoh. This is the Joseph who came thousands of years before Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus.
