My grandmother had one of these, she tried to teach me to play it when I was little, but it was difficult and I never learnt it. She passed away recently and I got the flute, and now I'm trying to learn to play it again, but I can't make a sound with it... It's a beautiful instrument and it would be a shame for it to just gather dust on my shelf.
I just ordered myself one of these wonderful flutes. I'm obsessed with the shakuhachi, and i've been on the hunt for variations of the end blown flute. I'm very much looking forward to playing this one.
It's not at all the echo of the area, he just put a lot of reverb and a bit of echo on the sound while editing. The flute will probably sound very different live.
Which is easier to blow, the end blown or side blown? I find the end blown quena more challenging than the side blown Arabian. Wondering what would be the best Oriental flute for my son.
Hi Tricia: With the V shaped end blown flute one really needs to connect well so lift and tilt is the tip. Seems easier to press and roll on the side blown. Erik
I bought a flute but cant get it to work...he needs to explain things in more detail...I cant even get a sound out of it. Perhaps there is a video to teach how to do this ?
Hi Erik! Bought a kiowa love flute off you a few years ago and I want you to know I have enjoyed it very much and met many people because of it. I am looking to buy this oriental end blown flute now. Does the reverb/echo come out naturally when playing on the sweet spot?? Or what's the story with it? I am excited for this 😊 peace to you Erik and thank you!
Playing a flute in great acoustics is amazing. Reverb is the invention of brining great acoustics to the player without having to be playing in a big cathedral. Some call it electronics. I use a boss pedal with reverb and a mic and small amp. Erik
Thanks for the helpful reply man. Just curious to know if you play writen tunes? or do you just play what ever comes out of the soul in the present moment?
Hi Erik. Do I just blow harder to get the 2nd octave? I can get the first fine but the second is just air going through the flute and an unpleasing shriek now and again. Sometimes I nearly get it but the pitch isn't good. Is it simply breath control? Thanks.
There are many things to get a good second octave. Lips can't be in a pucker, lifting up the flute to keep a good connection, lips in a good stretch but not to tight. The hardest are the 2 last notes. Closing the 2 bottom notes to get the top 2 notes helps. Hanging with the flute playing and enjoying it allows the flute to teach you. Erik
Hi Nemus: Lift and tilt and grin softly and blow to get sound. It is a melodic scale so anything you do sounds good. I am glad i have a few of them. Lots of fun. Erik
@@ErikTheFlutemakerCom Thank you master Erik. I realy love tone of this flute. I hoped, that it comes always in D, because it's sound can fit in our band...But maybe I'll buy it for fun and meditation in our forest.

Wish i could afford one
Geez the sound of the instrument and the echo of the area just make it sound absolutely beautiful. Also I love Erik keep up the good work man 🙏

You banana brain, it's post production echo fx 😆
Bit of delay and reverb. Lovely. I've got my Boss RV 6 waiting!
Mr. Erik, when will you have these oriental flutes back in stock?

Echo effect is fine but I would like to hear it as it really sounds still Awesome keep it up!!! :-) from Costa Rica.
When you get one you can hear it for decades without reverb : ) But reverb takes it to a whole new level. Regards, Erik

Where I could get this flute?
Sir i am from India.
How to get this kind of flute?
Pls guide me sir
Kasi Lalith you can get one on his website. It is in the description then you can look for it on there in the flute section.
What is the name of the flute?
What's the difference between this flute and a Quena Flute?
Hi, my Oriental flute has a pentatonic minor scale and the Quena has a major scale, that can also be played in minor and major pentatonic. Erik
Im intrested can anyone play this or does it need huge amount of study to sound good?
Hi Nemus: Lift and tilt and grin softly and blow to get sound. It is a melodic scale so anything you do sounds good. I am glad i have a few of them. Lots of fun. Erik
This takes a little bit of practice. I was new to flutes and it didn't take me long. Was able to learn in like 2 weeks playing a little each day.
Is this flute in D minor pentatonic?
My master flute is. So many come out in D others in D# and many inbetween.
