Amazing run though. The checkpoint glitch on Library made it so he had to do 12 minutes of gameplay with 0 checkpoints.

Not many people may notice, but during the library, Garish was checkpoint glitched. That means almost for the entire level, Garish couldn't get a CP. My butt was literally clenched the whole time. If he have died he would have been set back at the least 5 minutes. I would have cracked under that pressure

Amazingly enough, Garish brings the record to around 1:10 as of September 2019 and he just keeps going. The guy's amazing. Cheers.
I loved this game when I was a kid, fond memories of playing couch-coop with my best friend.
The flood were so freaky when I was younger and we always referred to the 'carriers' as "Big Mommas." The flood are intense, especially on Legendary. I also miss Halo 2 LAN parties that my friends and i had. 20 people matches were so much fun.

Halo are all the levels (maps) it is a super large mechanical world in the shape of a ring that generates power. Master Chief is a genetically altered human super soldier.

When it comes to Elites: Plasma weapons take more shield than human ones....and human weapons take more health damage then plasma ones...

Yes.A charged plasma pistol shot will destroy an elites shields and one shot sentinels.A plasma rifle can shred an elites shields pretty quickly as well.Generally speaking the human weapons are much better against health.If you want to beat it on legendary all you need to know is the plasma pistol shield break+ a human pistol shot to the head is the way to gp

I don't know how consistent this could be in a speedrun but while playing this on the original Xbox or the rerelease on the 360 I was able to shoot one of the elites out of one of the two banshees without destroying the banshee at the very beginning of the second level when you first land on the ring so if done correctly you're able to fly around the map which I'm sure would save a lot of time in a speedrun but I have no idea how I did it or how to do it consistently. Maybe there's a speedrunner who could figure it out. Also has this ever happened to anyone else?

Pretty sure they always come out there as well as in the big hangar when Cortana has to hack a door on the 1st floor

manbotbender to time the trick correctly, he uses the shots to know when to throw the next nade, cause that trick is very very precise

Man a couple years ago me and my roomate got the masterchief collection and decided we were gonna beat every game on legendary. I think we made it to the third or fourth mission in Halo CE before giving up. To be fair I think he's got a bit more practice than we did.

I just came from GoatRope's run from 2014 and lost interest when he didn't do the Banshee skip on AOTCR. I come here to see if it's used, and not only is there an even better Banshee skip than rocketing the perch, it's on the first bridge to begin with. The cherry on top of that ironic cake was Goat's donation coming up as the Banshee is flying through an area I was questioning as to why Goat didn't do this in his run. Either way, it's fantastic to see that used in this run, but in an even better way.
If I recall correctly I believe the Banshee skip was not discovered at the time - bridge fall was the fastest strat back then.
I was talking about the banshee at the small frozen pond. The segment after you acquire the tank, you come to an open area. At the midpoint sits a rock hill with a plasma turret on it. If you go past the turret, a trigger tells an Elite to walk out of the Two Betrayals hallway to get into the Banshee. You can line up a shot with the sniper rifle to rocket the wall the Banshee is in front of, causing it to tumble down. At that point, you're home free. This trick has been around since 2002. Sorry if there was any confusion on my part.
To my best knowledge, I'm sure Goatrope knew of that trick. But I'm also pretty sure it's too inconsistent to perform (I have memories of myself trying it out and I think that the Banshee either didn't spawn at all, or if the spawn point was random across the platform you shoot it down from, meaning you could get unlucky and blow the banshee in the wrong direction if you didn't know the exact spawn point of it). Otherwise it would be a given. Banshee sure is faster from that point onwards, with not that many seconds lost to shooting it down.
That banshee always spawns. It loads in when you come outside for the first time on the ground. It also always sits in the same spot. It's a very static, recurring thing. As I'd mentioned before, you can obtain a sniper rifle to set up your aim with the rocket launcher. the worst part of the wait is having to retrieve the Banshee, but a ghost can quickly make up for the distance.
Right, I went and did some research on this topic since it got me rather interested. The reason why nobody shot the banshee down at the time is because it's slower. Going back to get the rockets at the beginning of the canyon after the bridge drop takes too long. Fastest method for rockets + banshee is taking the same ghost as Goatrope, but back to the rockets and then back to the perch to shoot the banshee down. This method is slower than ghosting all the way to the banshee below the twin bridges and then flying up.

most of the strats work, but some are really hard if they require graphical queues, you basically have to figure out a whole new way to line up with the new graphics.
+Andrew Ydna DuBuc you can switch to the old graphics anyway, I remember trying to speedrun it on MCC and it was about the same, but I ain't seen the plasma grenade distraction before, just wondered if AI works the same

It isn´t a skip, pretty sure in Legendary and Heroic difficulties you don´t get the tutorial (calibration protocols).

Not quite. It simply doesn't happen on legendary. Bungie assumes you know how to look up and down if you play on hard mode!
