Wisconsin is a pretty good state for ants, I lived in Illinois until I was 18, so I've spent my fair share of time in WI. I've even done a couple videos there.
@@naynayboys6741 not necessarily, I've been catching ants for years now, so I've already kept a lot of the species I find. I tend not to collect nearly as much as I used to these days.
Beautiful creamatogaster ants! Crematogaster missouriensis almost never come to the surface, very cryptic ants. Did you see any evidence of them tending scale insects underground? Crematogaster ranch aphids and scale insects... so perhaps this cryptic species has underground livestock?
Is this the greatest video of all time?
Could be!
hey I witnessed like half of this video live ❗️
Amazing
POGGERS!
Great job buddy, videos never disappoint ❤
It would be cool to know what air temps are when you are seeing flights and ants near the surface under the rocks you flip.
Unfortunately that's a lot of information to include in a video style like this, and also I hardly know what the exact conditions are myself, lol
from my experiences dorymyrmex are not rainfall triggered, they always flew on dry hot days for me.
drooling in michigan, atleast i have cool formica
You make me jealous because i have no cool ants around me because i live in Wisconsin

I did not see anything of the sort, but I don't doubt it happens.
They forage on the surface pretty regularly out east, but not sure if that would be different in Arizona.
Collab?
