That's a great drone shot. It really shows you the scale and what is happening.
Drones really are a game changer. Just a few short years ago they had to use helicopters to get this kind of footage
Thank you
That fissure opened so close to that house. As unlucky as they are to lose their homes I cant stop but think of how fortunate the fissure didnt just open up right in the neighbourhood.
Hold on Icelanders 💪💪 You were the first to recognize us internationally, we will never forget that and always stand by You. Love from Croatia ❤🇭🇷💙🇮🇸
Why turn something scientific political? A volcanic eruption can happen anywhere in the world mostly along fault lines.
Visited Iceland and Croatia recently. Incredibly beautiful places and very nice people. 😊👍
Great things come from Croatia
Thank you 😊
Praying for the families who lost everything. 🙏
Bit late for prayers
They had time to prepare a few months and probpey grabbed as much as they could they probley all have insurance. Im not looking at this in a bad eye, but a rebirth for iceland
Lava moves slowly, they had time to get their stuff out. It’s just the loss of a structure.
well they chose to live next to a volcano
Prayers are worthless. Try helping with action instead of empty gestures.
Imagine living in that town and watching this video... 😢😢😢
Man these people are losing everything i feel terrible for them
Right I bet they had no idea they lived next to a Volcano.
@@sweed6054
You can still feel empathy for them.
@@jockyoung4491 why? These people had insurance they knew the risk. No empathy for stupidity. That's why the world is in the shape it's in.
@@jockyoung4491They probley took all there belongings and are just gonna buy a new house with insurance money most of them. End of story and im sure Icelandic government will take care of those that dont they care about there people more than military andstuff like that
@@sweed6054 by your logic, no one should live anywhere in Iceland. The whole island is a lava field.
Natural disasters usually come in from the side or from above. It must be very unsettling to have it come from underneath.
I'm very sad for the Icelanders who are affected.
Must be devastating for people whose homes were burnt by the volcano😢
Astute hypothesis.
Sad that they will probably never be able to go to those homes but happy that it gave time for everyone to get what is really important onto safety.
How long will it flow??
Beautiful yet scary, mother of nature power. I hope everybody safe there
Hope everyone got cleared out and are Safe🙏
the town was empty by the time the volcano started
Absolutely insane ! Prayers out to the families affected 🙏🏾
Prayers are an empty placebo. Prayers do not help. Never has, never will.

Power of mother nature
Oh no! Hearts out to the residents of Grindavik.
Condolences.
On flat ground too! Incredible
Those are some beautiful homes, so sad.
Having a volcano in your backyard is crazy
It reminds me of Hawaii.
lava gives zero fucks
Dang the hole opened up right next to the houses
Thats what happened a couple years ago at the Pahoa Hawaii Lava Flow. Entire communities wiped out.
A little perspective if you please... 5,000 Children die from starvation each and every day throughout the World, and not a damn word regarding this atrocity so conveniently dismissed with blind eyes!. And here we have a natural phenomena that's receiving saturated incessant media coverage... one plus one sure isn't equaling two that's for damn sure!!!
Omg that looks so unreal! Completely Terrifying
Wow, nothing stops mother nature. I'm so sorry for those families. Prayers.
Remember Smokey Bear says, "Only you can stop forest fires."
google earth pic of that area is from 04.2023, and those houses were being built at that time. they are brand new... it sucks to have just bought a house and earth is already taking it back...
THE Earth hast no Mercy!
Jesus,have mercy 🙏
Forget mercy. How about some help?
Oh no! 😥
This could practically be from the trailer for Stranger Things S5...
I feel sorry for the people who lost their home but boy would I be lying if I didn’t admit that this looks amazing ! Truly fascinating. Lava is so cool ... actually it’s hot but you know...
Auckland New Zealand take note.

Lave insurance?
This is amazing footage. My heart goes out to everyone over there that is losing their homes. Stay safe Iceland. 🙏🏼 I hope no one got hurt
NO! IT'S VOLCANO!
I think at this point people need to wonder if it safe for humans and animals to live on this large, very geologically unstable island.
These poor people... all they wanted was a home with a barren hellscape view.
Am I tripping or is lava spewing from that mound, I thought volcanos were, idk, tall? I guess lol, that looked like barely a hill.
Iceland is between the North American and Eurasian plates that are being pulled away from each other, the opposite of a subduction zone, where mountains are created from the plates colliding with each other. Under enormous heat and pressure the Earth's crust and upper mantle break open at weak spots showing this surreal view of lava boiling out of the earth.
Come to the Pacific Northwest and you will see cliffs of stratified lava hundreds of feet high that are the result of just this kind of fissure eruption. The most common idea we have have about volcanic eruptions are the towering strato-volcanos we also have in this region. There are also shield volcanoes like the ones in Hawaii that behave differently than the strato-volcanoes.
That is hell
The name of the country was Iceland but full of Volcano's. Wth . I felt bad for the families who lost their home , they invest it for their family but we can't stop Mother Nature .
Why be an archaeologist studying Pompeii when you can be a city planner that makes another one.
I've learned there is no place safe on that island lava can pop up anywhere on Dead Island it seems like I don't know how the hell people live like that I really don't always have to worry if your house is going to be taken out by you know the act of God
Wtf volcano
Bummer. They did a job of work building berms to keep off the lava from farther up the slope, but this new crevice practically opened up downtown.
At least the people had plenty of time to prepare.
A slow moving catastrophe. Poor bastards. I wonder how much property insurance costs in Iceland.
we're still running with a joke that Iceland is green and Greenland is ice huh
Is this how ore veins are created?
Pray for the people in Iceland affect by this disaster.
What the hell are you taking about disaster? They built on top of an active volcano!
@@FredyArg Truth.
@@FredyArg it had not been active in a few hundred years…

With the history and secret agencies in Iceland, mother nature was bound to correct all the unnatural things going on there.. js
When you're feeling lonely, lost and let down
Seems like those dark skies are following you around
And life's just one big shade of gray
You wonder if you'll see the light of day
Behind the clouds, the sun is shining
Believe me even though you can't quite make it out
You may not see the silver lining
But there's a big blue sky waiting right behind the clouds
I've heard it said that this too shall pass
Good times or bad times, neither one lasts
But thinking that your luck won't ever change
Is like thinking it won't ever stop once it starts to rain.
Reminiscent of the 1973 Heimaey eruption. Very unfortunate. 😕
Hope they got opted in for the lava insurance...
arguably worse than building on flood plains
Wow. Volcano went and said "f these houses in particular". That's harsh. Can't imagine losing my house 😢 so sad

Someone call Tommy Lee Jones to stop the flow of this volcano

That is indeed how molten lava works, yes.
The occurrence of stoms, rains, ice, and floods at times and in unexpected places, confirms my theory the end of the (dynamic horizontal movement )which needs to balance and it sill under control to balance...
But about earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, sinkholes, tsunami, dry lakes and rivers, flow of water from the mountains and hills, explodeand of eyes water from the ground, formation of new mountains or islands, collaps of mountains ,and cracks on ground,& ,& ,&,they are out of control or balance...
Note :The earth will become like Venus...

Same thing is happening to ABC
Mother Nature can be a bitch sometimes. And according to geologists, this outbreak of eruptions is only just beginning.
So that little portion just came out of nowhere. Completely separate from the big part? I don't think they expected that
It's not separate underneath the ground, but yes it was surprising and disappointing. The main lava flow had been successfully diverted.
@@jockyoung4491 that fissure said oh really!?
at least they were able to get out
Not MAN ,but Mother Nature 1 volcano wipes out all solar power and wind power on earth! But if it makes you feel good do it !😮😂

Why do people build houses close to active volcanoes? Glad everyone got out safe and sound. Horrible to lose a home and possessions (happened to me in a house fire) .
Mehh
Why do people in Florida live on the beach? People are crazy
Looks really cool, until something like this happens. I would take the risk 🤷♂️
Well essentially the entire country is a volcano so 🤷♀️
From what I was told in all the Live streams, the Icelanders apparently "Didn't know" there was a Volcano there..... LOL!
:(
Wtf horrible way to die, Pompeii style
Hi
looks like gloom from totk
dAM, lost home and the land, you cant build there no more.
I am certain that the lava flow could have been diverted. Icelandic fire departments have done so in the past. Hoses deliver water to the edge of a flow, cooling it just enough to form a solid barrier, diverting the flow away from houses. I wonder why they did not try that here.
fortunately, the wall they built did divert the lava flow from the main fissure that opened up! but they didn't expect a smaller fissure to open up just a few hundred meters from town (the one this lava was coming from), and i believe the town had already been mostly evacuated by that point. but that's just my speculation based on what I've read!
Wasn't possible in these circumstances. There is no nation on Earth better prepared to deal with volcanoes. Everything that can be done has been done. Human lives are prioritized.
Mother Nature...
..
😢
And we shall now call the town, "New Pompeii"
Mother Nature: Building land masses one eruption at a time.
May God be with the families who lost their homes and those evacuated. Sad to see.
What is the point of your god turning up when it is too late?
@@paulstafford2747 The people aren't dead. They evacuated. A house can be rebuilt.
