Airtrooper719 XBL you miss the point, you can it's unenjoyable that's why you don't even tho you can, hell you can punch yourself in the balls, the enjoyment you will have out of it is very questionable, plus replays look shit with all the wheel twitch Ahahah oh and it's not just a game it's a sim, slightly diferente
you can tell this guy has so much passion about cars and stuff. started watching your epic lessons on gt6 and they helped me a lot. props to you, you suould get more Subscribers.
I always follow the rule Jackie Stewart told James May in a TopGear episode trying to go faster with a TVR, only put your foot on the throttle if you know you dont have to take it off again. Of course you cant follow that to the exact, but it does help!
It's trying to say to don't back off the gas. Apply it progressively always to the edge of slip-agnle. It's like having a traction control, but you are the TC, and like that you have the control now, not the computer. Who has the most control, shall be the fastest!
About the last point You mentioned. TL;DR version: Slow in, fast out on corners with a long straight afterwards fast in, slow out on corners with another corner afterwards issue simplified.
but it depends on which way the corner is afterwards, it youre coming out of the corner the wrong side of track for the next entry then you enter fast exit slow slow, but if its a corner where you come out on the same side you need to be for the next you can come out faster, both are right, i think he just adds to it
Comrade Hatuey Don't wobble the wheel while braking, brake in a straight line. Some corners, however, allow you to brake later and slowly let off the brake as you turn the wheel, up to the apex. That would be trail braking. You want to normally reduce braking power as you slow so that your brakes don't lock on a corner that doesn't allow trail braking, regardless.
Comrade Hatuey Yup that's correct. Simply - lock wheels OR turn, avoid combining both. It may give you few kph/mph more on corners but it also burns tires.
"note in this test I am using 90% of my skill" LOL.... Who are you, a Dragonball Z villain? "This is merely a fragment of my true strength"..."This isn't even my final form" "My Ki is much higher than this!"
My way of learning a track: - take the first 1-2 Laps slow (primarily to see if there are crossing roads where you're not supposed to go and to see, where the long straights will end) - start to take the lap as fast as possible and try to avoid mistakes in upcoming laps. Doing many mistakes which cost you huge amounts of time will be your best teacher - After 30-60 Minutes there shouldn't be that much corners anymore, where you're too slow/fast, but it wouldn't look smooth either - now look up some world record/fast lap videos on this track (with the same car if needed) - don't try to memorize the whole lap, just pick 1-2 corners and try to perfect them, repeat this with the next corners if you feel confident enough - from there on it's all about beating your lap times. - but don't race competetive yet, you would just crash into everyon anyway. Play against AI (if possible) and learn to recognize, where you can safely overtake and where you can run wide to prevent crashing. Here you can also see, where drivers with racing lines will be in any corner. If you drive against real persons, there will propably be many drivers (depending on the game) who actually try to follow this line as much as possible while not being aware, where you are.
to be honest, i do really likes your videos..you aren't just showcasing those playthrough, but instead you give lessons and logic explanations. thumbs up and big respect from me !
This video is perfect! That's what I tell people. Even for mobile games like Real Racing 3, it's best to use Tilt because you turn at your own rate rather than excessively with Button controls.
So... someone is supposed to learn the Nurburgriring in 5 laps? I have been doing it wrong the whole time! ;) No but seriously, the biggest issue I have that is shown with the video is the correcting the wheel too much. Sometimes, it looks like I'm having a seizure while driving. I guess I will keep that in mind.
I pretty much know everything you said in this vid,but it's like a really nice revision for me and it's really helpful for new or amateur drivers.(it's not that I am a pro,but you know what I mean)
This helps a lot man!! But not with Racing Games but with Racing itself, as a 15 year old with a huge passion about cars I really love your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man, really helped me. Didn't know how wrong I was going until I watched you video. Great video, love it. Make sure to keep up the good work. Now jotted down your tips to memorize them
great video, a lot of it i knew as ive done track time in real life and played a lot of gt6 and such but you still explained some stuff really well especially the last point which will hopefully help me
tapping the throttle gently is useful for peeking at available rear grip if youre in low grip situations (street tires / rain) and lets you adjust accordingly. obviously dont repeatedly stamp on the throttle
Thanks man. Sadly that I missed my moment. Last time when I had spare time to play racing games was about 7 yers ago. But anyway thanks! You wiil help a lot for a new generation
Merci beaucoup pour tout ces conseils !! je te cite souvent en référence dans les groupes Facebook dont je fait partie un énorme merci encore de partager tes connaissances avec nous 👍👍
1) Throttle management -> I wish I could afford a decent steering wheel rather than keyboard drive... 2) Drift -> Well, with keyboard my car doesn't steer any smoothly 3) Steering Corrections -> I correct only when I feel like it's the only way to avoid upcoming trouble;) 4) New Track -> But you told me no new info 5) Find Racing Line -> Yeah, yeah... As if I would be doing it else way...
You should always keep steady throttle through corners. The second you start to lose grip let the throttle go for a bit and reapply when you have grip again. High exit speeds thru corners is the key to fast laps. Slow in, Fast out. And learn to read the signs on the side of the road for perfect braking every time. If there isn't distance markers, try finding something similar that's in the track.
Good Video, viperconcept! The 3rd reason driving in a clean way is the fuel consumption. You waste a lot of fuel going too aggressive as you can see in the 12 laps with the GT40 on Brands Hatch!
Very nice. All these things can be applied to any game as well as driving in real life. On another comment, to really enjoy racing sims you do need a wheel.
great video. i'm playing Gran Turismo on PS w controller. can't afford the wheel setup. but driving technique isn't about the interface (i've seen what true drivers can do with only the d-pad for example). it's about car control. and that starts with understanding. which is where i'm stuck right now. i've gotten very good in the past year or so, but i'm short a few key principles. and this helps. especially on brands hatch and silverstone, which are still new to me and challenging. i'll look for more of these now. thanks.
Watch the Top Gear episode where May is tutored by Jackie Stuart on driving. He says on there to only get on the throttle once through a turn, or something along the lines of that. I see you still do that, and getting on the throttle only once through a turn helps with balance and will further smooth out your driving. I know it helped me a ton.
wow thank you many many thanks from me i went to sim racing for a month and i think my drives is bad and after i saw this video my drive is very very awful and terrible, ill learn this video and practicing on my sim thank you very much
But the only problem with most of the racing games is that the trottle only gives you the option of "FULL" & "NONE" so it simply ends up with an impossible mission attempting to do the trottle control
I have always played with a controller and have won many times, but I've been thinking about getting a steering wheel and especially to learn how to play/race with manual since I never done it. What's a good quality and durable steering wheel for PS3/4? I know of G27, but that's only for PS3/PC and not for PS4. What do you recommend?
If you know the G27, the G29 is exactly the same wheel (with PS4 compatibility). The only change is the brake pedal (it's harder to push), but all the rest is unchanged.
Well, it has less metal and more plastic than the G27, but despite that the quality is the same. Now it has 1 year old. I disassembled it 3 weeks ago to clean it because the dirt caused an intermittent contact with the throttle pedal. It works fine now.
Comrade Hatuey I recommend a t300rs or t500, whichever one you get cheaper. They are really great quality wheels and deliver a great driving experience.
thanks man i watched your video and i like that. i think its my third vids of you. but in a video you talk about "racing etiquette". could you do a video about that and learn more people how drive in online race? thanks keep up your good work!
Treat the car like a nervous dog. If you approach the dog quickly it will bite you If you go up to the dog slowly, get a feel for its temperament it will be more relaxed with you.
First of all congratulations for the nice video and the clearness of the concepts. However i use different approaches while learning the track and driving. Firstly i strongly believe in trial and error method while learning a track because only knowing it by heart you will be able to give the 100%. Moreover, since I don't have to pay for damages, I'm not afraid to go over the limit, which sometimes is much more constructing. Secondly I think you didn't drive at your best during the comparison between the two kind of stile, because the clean one is much more faster, and the difference would be bigger. I find correct to have a 90% pace during longer races, however most of the times there are less than 10 laps races (even your own championship has that format), so looking after the tyres isn't worth. Personally I use an aggressive style, then I polish it in order to be clean. This is my method to drive as fast as i can. I find prominent to give the 100% in race in order to face who is faster than me. I'm usually faster than the 95% of the drivers i find on public servers (pc version), but when i race against one of the other 5% (one of those aliens that, after i spent 2 hours lowering my laptimes by 2 seconds, join the server and in 10 minutes is 1 second faster than me), I want to be ready to do the perfect race and if not challenge him, at least follow him and try to learn something new and improve myself.
Nice vid! is this assetto corsa ps4? one more question, in the first vid Ferrari f40 how do You make the Brake noise (squeal) is a mod or its original of the game?
It depends from your budget. - If you have no budget limits, a 900€/$ PC + Thrustmaster T500RS is a best choice. - If you have a good budget, a 600€/$ PC with a Logitech G29 / Thrustmaster T300 is the perfect choice. - If you have a limited budget, buy a console (Xbox/PS4) with Logitech G29 / Thrustmaster T300. - If you have a low budget, take a console (Xbox/PS4) with a Thrustmaster T150 (or an used wheel). Then, if you want exclusives like GT Sport/ Driveclub (PS) or Forza Horizon 3 (Xbox), you're obliged to stay on console, no matter your budget.
Oh yeah I'm a big Gran Turismo fan. I love that game. But Assetto Corsa and SimRacing in general is so tempting for me recently. And it seem like PC got very good racing community. You can race with pro like You are and you can race with less skilled guys like myslef and your game will not be spoiled with some destruction derby players. Thanks for your videos. They are very informative and entertaining. I enjoy watching them. Keep up the good work
viperconcept mistake here. Forza Horizon 3 isn't exclusive to the Xbox one. I actually have it on pc and played with a friend that has an Xbox one. This said, steering wheels should still be compatible
Hello, Viper Concept, it was a great race, I hope you have a lot of luck and you win this championship! : D PostScript: Are you French or Italian? Greetings from Argentina, you're the best ;)
Hi,the person reading this,i have a question: I have a logitech F310 controller, but when i play these games, the steering doesn't register until i move the stick to half steer, and the second it registers, the car goes fully steers and i spin out. So can you help me solve this problem?
I think the controller doesn't steer like a PS3 controller on Gran Turismo, or like an Xbox controller on Forza. What i mean by that, it's basically thinking like: Oh, the stick is to the left/right, um.. i don't know what do do, let's act as if he was using a keyboard!
It's like saying you're not gonna try to be aggressive as you can. It's not like there's a way to actually gauge how much effort you're putting into something, it's just a form of expression. Just think of it like this, say a car has 500 HP, but if you use a peak of 80% throttle, you're not producing the maximum power the engine is capable of. So if you're limiting your skills to 90%, you're simply not driving as good as you can.
Nah it wasn't a dumb question. Personally I don't really like the whole "Run this lap at 80%" kind of expressions. It just makes things seem more complex than they really are, like you could've just said "Run this lap casually" or something. But no worries, just glad I could clear that up for you.
agressive is not = slower, u can be agressive AND fast. It is just art to find the points when u have to drive very smooth and when u can be full agressive as fuck. When u get slower when u drive more agressive OR less agressive, u cant get faster with driving style. Adjust car settings or rethink about your driving line. With other car settings u might have to change your driving style completely, e.g. u driving with more or less contact pressure. Sometimes it feels slower to drive with less contact pressure, but its faster.
i got assetto a few days ago on ps4. not loving it. all the cars seem to understeer badly and the rear tyres always get too cold after a lap. using the dualshock controller. project cars seems to work fine with my driving style. i dont know how to adapt to assetto
viperconcept ah. that explains it. a bit silly because most people with consoles have a living room with no space for a dedicated seat. i wish they told me this before i got it.
viperconcept just explain why AC is unplayable with controller. You can still control how much you want to steer same as with wheel and faster unsmooth movements as you do with controller help to heat tyres too. So where is the point?
@Richard GG Maybe you won't believe me, but I passed hours and hours trying to set a decent controller configuration (especially for the drift events on AC: they're almost impossible to complete with gold medal), and I still haven't found a good controller setup. Too sensitive, imprecise... On the contrary, Project CARS was easier to set up: I completed half carrer mode with controller at medium-hard difficulty without problems.
Hey Viper, could you recommend me a set of controllers(wheels, pedals and preferably shifter too, but im not too picky on it). If you can, could u recommend me a really quality set, then another recommendation on a really cheap set, and a last recommendation on a bang for the buck set that probably lies somewhere in between. THANK YOU ! i know its a lot of ask. love you.
The best solution to save money is to buy an used steering wheel. However, the G29 + H-shifter (about 60€/$ more) is a nice steering wheel. Maybe it's too expensive considering it's just a G27 with PS4 compatibility. The good alternative is the Thrustmaster T300, but the base model hasn't the clutch pedal. You have to buy the clutch version + H-shifter. For the set I can't help you: It was a gift from my parents. I'm inexperienced on that.
The first clip is basically the first time you play asseto corsa with a keyboard.
one does not simply control throttle with a keyboard...
asking the real questions
one doesnt play sim racers on a keyboard either xD
It's just a "game", people can play it with their penis if they want.

About the last point You mentioned.
TL;DR version:

ah yes my younger years when i used to ride the far wall to go around a corner
Undreground 2 people will understand
LOLOLOL
I still have UG2 and I still do that.
Another tip would be not to move your wheel while breaking. No matter how good or bad it affects your cornering, it wears tires the most.
DamianN Audio Unless you're trail braking
What exactly do you mean? To not turn while breaking or... ? I'm new to steering wheels. Thanks.
Thanks! Glad to know.
Comrade Hatuey Yup that's correct. Simply - lock wheels OR turn, avoid combining both. It may give you few kph/mph more on corners but it also burns tires.
"note in this test I am using 90% of my skill" LOL....
Who are you, a Dragonball Z villain? "This is merely a fragment of my true strength"..."This isn't even my final form"
"My Ki is much higher than this!"
Just racing stuff. If you're going at 100% th chance of making a mistake become higher
OMG I am laughing louder than I should.... hahaha
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
My way of learning a track:
- take the first 1-2 Laps slow (primarily to see if there are crossing roads where you're not supposed to go and to see, where the long straights will end)

- don't try to memorize the whole lap, just pick 1-2 corners and try to perfect them, repeat this with the next corners if you feel confident enough
- from there on it's all about beating your lap times.
- but don't race competetive yet, you would just crash into everyon anyway. Jose Maquia He knew it aswell but he need to take a track to show.
another great video thanx bro

Dude amazing video. I used to drive aggressive, now I don't :D
Feels so much better. So much more calmer. Cheers.
Im not the best driver but I love racing sims, I gotta play with you more often. Great tips! Great VIDEO!👍👍👍
great video, a lot of it i knew as ive done track time in real life and played a lot of gt6 and such but you still explained some stuff really well especially the last point which will hopefully help me
Great video. Very visual and I think it can help a lot of drivers with it.
I probably will never play this game, but you got me on those very precise hints and I watched the shit all along
tapping the throttle gently is useful for peeking at available rear grip if youre in low grip situations (street tires / rain)

obviously dont repeatedly stamp on the throttle
10 types of players in Racing Games when?

Thanks a lot, very useful !
Good Video, viperconcept!
The 3rd reason driving in a clean way is the fuel consumption.
You waste a lot of fuel going too aggressive as you can see in the 12 laps with the GT40 on Brands Hatch!
The background music is from MotoGP 4! Ahh, memories.

Sorry, my bad!
viperconcept No problem, it still requires a powerful pc though
Hello, Viper Concept, it was a great race, I hope you have a lot of luck and you win this championship! : D PostScript: Are you French or Italian?
Greetings from Argentina, you're the best ;)
Hi,the person reading this,i have a question:
I have a logitech F310 controller, but when i play these games, the steering doesn't register until i move the stick to half steer, and the second it registers, the car goes fully steers and i spin out.
RockyPixel oh thanks bro
remove the dead zone in options and increase the linearity
quality quality content
One more time I remain orrified by the external camera of assetto corsa lol
Question, what's that about the skill percentage? Even in Initial D they talk about it but how's that? Could you elaborate please?
It's like saying you're not gonna try to be aggressive as you can. It's not like there's a way to actually gauge how much effort you're putting into something, it's just a form of expression. Just think of it like this, say a car has 500 HP, but if you use a peak of 80% throttle, you're not producing the maximum power the engine is capable of. So if you're limiting your skills to 90%, you're simply not driving as good as you can.
Bit Viper Ah, I get it. Sorry it was a dumb question, hahah. Thank you!
Nah it wasn't a dumb question. Personally I don't really like the whole "Run this lap at 80%" kind of expressions. It just makes things seem more complex than they really are, like you could've just said "Run this lap casually" or something. But no worries, just glad I could clear that up for you.
But on Forza, you can memorize every single track easily because you will have driven around them at least 100 times.
But great video, nonetheless.
my friend got lapped 3 times by me when he came up with the idea of clean driving
One question, what if i have a bad memory and cant memorize all the corners?
agressive is not = slower, u can be agressive AND fast. Sometimes it feels slower to drive with less contact pressure, but its faster.
he's using 90percent of his skills fellas
Nice video thanks :)
i got assetto a few days ago on ps4. not loving it. all the cars seem to understeer badly and the rear tyres always get too cold after a lap. using the dualshock controller. project cars seems to work fine with my driving style. i dont know how to adapt to assetto
That's because Assetto Corsa is unplayable with controller. Steering wheel only!
Project CARS is more optimized for controller support.
viperconcept ah. that explains it. a bit silly because most people with consoles have a living room with no space for a dedicated seat. i wish they told me this before i got it.
you don't need a dedicated seat you can use a wheelstand
viperconcept just explain why AC is unplayable with controller.
On the contrary, Project CARS was easier to set up: I completed half carrer mode with controller at medium-hard difficulty without problems.
should i get assetto for the PS4 or wait for project cars 2?
and this is why you play with either a steering wheel or a console
my bad.. I thought it was real life driving at the beginning.
What settings should my car have?
Thank you, dude, for you job!)
It is possibile for me to get in top 5 in a player vs player with a keyboard?
(I usually set up the cars)
what is first track ? 0:57
And what if I have only a controller instead of a wheel?
rip those that use a keyboard instead of a controller.
Alinea Euros keyboard is fine girl
pierce yu But gay
pierce yu good luck with controlling throttle and having precise steering with that, lol.
I play nfs MW 2012 with a keyboard, I have beaten the Most wanted Agera using the keyboard in my whole life
sure maybe its easy enough with AI thats easy, but im sure you will lose out to someone with a controller when it comes to online racing.
