Yes those were the times back then that there was real music, real talented songwritters and non-autotuned performers.i.e.one of today's acts could make 3-4 songs if he sampled a Bee Gees song that were highly filled up with clever hooks and self written melodies. You could even hear real acoustic strings in a dance song.Such a feverishly creative era.

@@carolhayar3037 I believe it was a documentary on UK TV about the film.prob to celebrate the anniversary of it being out for 25 years or something.i googled and got this.
It was Mr. Zinn's feet and legs, in disco boots and jeans, that walked into the camera during the memorable 1977 opening credits for ''Saturday Night Fever,'' to the music of ''Staying Alive
The guy is Jeff Zinn he was travoltas photo double too.
      He has an IMDb page.
In the doc the presenter did the same walk and stopped at the same place tony did for a slice of pizza.

@@sarablack2547 I saw where it said it was Jeff Zinn's shoes but Travolta denied it. Anything's possible, with so much differing info on the internet, whether it's an article or a video, it's difficult to know what's real & what isn't, i.e., there are 2 choreographers named (Wilson & Terrio) as working w-Travolta who refused a body double when the producers suggested it; then there's info in a reporter's interview article that mentions a JoJo Smth as the choreographer working w-Travolta but never mentions Wilson & Terrio. What doesn't make sense to me is that w-the great dancing Travolta did, the hrs. of work put in, exercising, etc. why would they need to use someone else's feet. At any rate, I'm a leery sort of person when it comes to stuff on the web & take everything w-a grain of salt. Thanks.

You have no idea how massive how life enhancing this track was. When Stayin Alive hit I was working on the QE2 week in week out transatlantic crossings. Id go to a club in London and it was Stayin Alive four days later Id be in New York and it was Stayin Alive pumping in the NY clubs then Id be back on the ship and it was Stayin Alive pumping in the crew bars on QE2. In the middle of the bloody Atlantic it was massive ! Stayin Alive was global in a way never known before. And it was the London and New York club scene that drove it: not radio. It was groundbreaking on another level. If you were alive then its a track in your bloodstream forever.

Your excitement is contagious. This was the first time a drum loop was ever used to record a song. They already had all the songs written for their new album when they were approached to write songs for the movie Saturday Night Fever. They told the producers that they were in Paris recording and didn't have time but they could hear what they already had written and the producers ended up using every song they showed them. At that point they wrote the movie around the songs. It was a low budget film that just exploded. I think it was because of the music. Pretty awesome.

This was one of the movies I ever saw that wasn’t the “village-pictures” showings of Charlie Chaplin or Laurel & Hardy. At home, the radio was monopolised by parents, and we weren’t indoors much anyway, even the kids who had TVs (our house didn’t) So EVERY SONG in Saturday Night Fever just burst on us as we sat in out town’s new giant cinema. 1300 kids and teenagers going crazy with it.

I was about 6 years old when this song first came out and back then it was everything! Bee Gees were the first group I ever became aware of, even before the Saturday Night Fever insanity. I would have been very young but songs like Jive Talkin, Run To Me, To Love Somebody, Nights On Broadway would come on the radio when we were driving in the car and I'd ask my dad to turn it up, haha! I think my love of music began with these 3 brothers. In my opinion, the Bee Gees have no equal.

The 1977 music video for the Bee Gees' song "Stayin' Alive" was filmed on the backlot of MGM Studios in Culver City, California. The video features the group singing on an abandoned subway terminal set that included buildings and a train station. The set was next to the one used to film *Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band* at the same time.
I'm sure that location was used when gene kelly was introducing clips from mgm musicals for the movie that's entertainment.❤

I love your reaction(s) especially to The BeeGees. I don't know how old you are, but at 60 I know I'm way, WAY, older than you, LOL. But, of course, still way younger than The BeeGees. I first saw the BeeGees in 1975 on a chart show on TV doing Nights on Broadway. Well, it was then that my little 11-year-old girl heart was captured by Barry. I had no idea what was happening to me, but I instantly had the biggest crush.
I don't really remember when I first heard Stayin' Alive, but I do know that my (girl)friends and I would check the charts on all the songs of Saturday Night Fever and if they would be shown during the pop TV shows. Then of course we'd park ourselves right in front of the TV set and be glued to it whenever they were on and often afterward would call each other on the phone (LANDLINES!!!!) and swoon and giggle and talk about how freaking handsome Barry was, LOL. That was 1977, when I was 13 and they pretty much dominated the charts that year, and all the popmagazines featured them so we could all fill our scrapbooks with the photos and articles. And of course we plastered the walls of our (pre) teen rooms with posters of them, especially Barry (and Andy). Ah, childhood memories, LOL.

ROCK people thought DISCO would take over and people would quit making ROCK. Which is crazy. There were folks that liked DISCO but they wouldn't admit it. Good music will always be good music. Yes, pre-internet, unless you bought thr album and the lyrics were in the liner notes (not always) you pretty much had to guess at them. Which made for some pretty interesting interpretations. There are websites of "misheard lyrics" where people post what they *thought* the lyrics said and then get an answer of what they actually say. It can be very funny.

It is the song that definitely affects people the first time. Then to be able to see the video reminiscing on how many times you love that song and didn't know it was Bee Gees. It's really cool having you share your same feeling we had listening. I don't know if I want to admit this, but for several years, every day, I love to listen to reactions to Stayin' Alive. Also Too Much Heaven. It's impossible to overdose. You gave a great reaction to the song you discovered you loved again so much.

I first heard the song when I went to see the film 'Saturday Night Fever' at the cinema when it came out back in 1977. The opening sequence was John Travolta walking along a Brooklyn Street going to his place of work swinging a paint pot in time to this song which was playing.
Back in those days films were shown week after week if they were popular and I remember seeing it at least three or four times - loved that film!

💗I first heard this when it came out. I was 13/14. I liked Robin I thought Barry was a show-off. I also thought Maurice was old but now I know he was the youngest of the three. If only by 40 minutes.

I just fell in love with you a little bit more because of your reaction to my childhood heartthrobs....you captured EXACTLY how I feel when I hear The Bee Gees and younger brother Andy. I teleport right back to my tiny bedroom waiting for the radio to play these songs!!!

I listen to this song every day. It was released 1978. I was married 1977. If it had been released in 1977, it would have been one of the songs in my wedding.
    A little background.
Barry Gibb (middle) September 1, 1946. He and his wife Linda have been married for 53 years. They have 4 sons and one daughter who is the youngest. Also, 7 grandchildren. Barry's chest is shiny with blotches because when he was about 18 months, he pulled a pot of hot tea from off of a table. His mom said he didn't speak for a long time (close to 2 years.) He was close to dying because there was no skin grafting back then and gangrene was beginning to set in. Barry said he has no memory of it happening, just the scars to prove.
Robin (on our left - long hair) and Maurice (on our right - short hair) were fraternal twins.
Maurice Gibb (December 22, 1949 - January 12, 2003) heart attack, while getting surgery for twisted intestines. Survived by wife and 2 adult children.
Robin Gibb (December 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) doctors found out he had the same intestine problems as Maurice. When they went in to fix it, they found cancer. He is survived by wife and 4 adult children.
Andy Gibb (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) He was too young to sing with his brothers. He had his own successful career. He and Barry could have been identical twins. He had a bad heart. Andy is survived by one daughter.
You know the song 'Emotion' sung by Destiny's Child? Well --- the brothers wrote the song (1977) for the singer Samantha Sang. Destiny's Child has too much drama in it. But Barry said he liked it.
    Emotion ruclips.net/video/b_wTZjo9azk/видео.htmlsi=Y863cKzsfSsxKiTP
They wrote their own songs and wrote and produced songs for a lot of other artists. Barry didn't always sing in falsetto. They were asked if someone could sing falsetto on a song. Barry volunteered, and the rest is history. Robin sings falsetto too.
On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley (Gibb) Evans. She can sing, but she did not want to be in the limelight. She lives a quiet life. She and Barry are the last two survivors of the family. (Their parents are deceased also.) Maurice passed away on Lesley's 58th birthday.
They were so popular that some radio stations had a 'Bee Gees free' weekend. NO requests for their songs.
There's so much to write about them. In your spare time, I think you'll like what they have contributed to the music industry. I recommend the following songs:

Saturday Night Fever (Opening Credits) that's where you hear this song where Tony (John Travolta) was walking down the street back in Brooklyn NY, my neighborhood!!! Love this you brought me back home when I was a kid. Go watch the opening credits to that movie you'll see and hear it. And YES the Italian guys did double up the pizza like that. And just about every Italian guy both talked and acted like that too. I grew up in that neighborhood went to that club, a few years later I was only 13 when this movie came out in 1977, 2001 Odyssey and the dance floor was way smaller in real life they actually made it bigger for the movie. The dance studio was on 86th st in Bklyn (Brooklyn) I went there a few years later too. The Verrazano Bridge was close to my house too along with the White Castle too. I'd take my walks every Saturday and Sunday and the Italian guys with there tight shorts on and white tight tee shirts would be washing there cars lol to me they were funny why you gotta wash you car 2 days in a row piezan??? Lol being Italian myself I made fun of them not to there face of course lol I do a really good imitation of them lol but I loved them too it was always in jest lol and frankly I miss the buzz outta them hey oh hey dont toucha my car I breaka you face lol. Man I really miss those times and what it was like back then. Watching that movie always brings me back. And not only the Bee Gees but do there brother too Andy Gibb too I loved him oh my gosh he always looked and sounded like Barry too. Peace.
