It kind of amazes me how any game puts a cute helping thing in their game and fans will always defend it no matter what. Granted in this case drillbert actually did seem useful, but he ends up being all of your mining ability

The value of drillbert is that you spend your time ferrying resources instead of digging. Division of labor proving itself powerful as always.

Dang, drillbert is freaking powerful to max out early on. I thought "Nah, he'll taper off, it won't be worth it" but those treats kept stacking up and making him go WAY faster than the player even on lower levels while the player kept relaying the materials. Combo him with a material teleporter that's maxed out and the only thing you'll have to worry about is what to do with all that stuff so early on
I don’t even buy the treats honestly but every drillbert upgrade is viable
Once you get the "bonuces off walls" upgrade for him, send him on a path and then drill down 3 more, he'll run all the way back, drop down and turn around again

You can use the two-way teleport to go down and move resources and you can use the one way teleport to go back up.
yea it temporarily saves the resources for personal teleport, also it's much faster
That requires reading and thinking for 3 seconds to understand. Something 102% of all youtubers (with a 2 % margin of error) lack because they're concentrating on trying to have entertaining commentary.

I think the best place for your cam window, for this game, is top right corner. Because it blocks the battefield. Just my thoughts. Love watching you play games.

In a run I got the teleporter and Dilber. I maxed them out as soon as possible.
Dig just one block down and let Dilbert go right and left on his own cleaning the whole world while I drag the teleporter around to teleport myself and all the resources.
Definitely one of my funniest run and I never cleaned everything so easily

A pretty good combo is drillbert and the lift. While drilbert mines horizontally and the lift delivers the resources back to the base all you have to do is defend, drag the resources to the lift (you can drag some back yourself if so despirately needed) and mine a bit vertically yourself. Imo the best final build all together by the end is Stun laser, Lift, Drillbert, and teleporter with twin lasers for main weapon and any maxed sheild for gadget.
Skootie and chat talking about if you can teleport treats, I'm like, y'all know gravity exists right? You literally have a max depth Shaft to where drillbert is, just drop the treat down, he'll get it when he gets there.
Personally I think the strat is to get the auto-turnaround and then just make sure there's a 3-deep hole in the center so he can drop down when he finishes a layer. Bonus that the hole works for lift use or as a teleporter pit
same way you pick up Drillbert you can also pick up the teleporter to re place it somewhere more convenient after digging further, could've taken it near the final relic at the end
Drillbert is awesome. He's cheaper to upgrade than you are and rarely stops. Fully upgraded and you're just hauling loot.
think something to make drillbert just better, would be to naturally turn around on its own. replace *that* perk, with one that lets it drill down one spot.

Drillbert is my new obsession and im going to buy this game just because I want him. Also because I like this games automation skill trees but also drillbert OKAy
Without jokes and pogs: Drillbert is quite a useful fella especially when upgraded (like all other devices, wow!). It can greatly help you in huge maps: when you fight, it can still dig.
So, imo, he unironically worth spent resources for upgrading.
Maybe devs could give it more commands or ability to haul some found materials?
If they gave him the ability to dig down a block when he’s at a dead end then I think he’d be a great help for getting that mine all blocks achievement

It was fitting for this to end with you rescuing Drillbert in a tense final action scene.
When i started watching you play sap i thought u were kind of boring but i perservered because of ur cracked gameplay and youve really come leaps and bounds in terms of humour and entertainment to the point youre one of my favourite creators
I like how there came a point where you had to prioritise which of the resources Drillbert mined to carry back up and which to leave behind for next time.

I think upgrading teleport for mats and being able to go back makes it better than the lift bar none. It takes almost as much investment to make good as lift, has better movement, and instantaneous transport if mats. The only downside really is that it can get backed up a bit in lower levels. But drillbert and teleport is a guaranteed win bar none.
If i had a nickel for everytime this guy said bar none id have two nickels. Which isnt a lot but its weird that it happened twice
Watching your content has cured me from Northernlion's psycho mining
Tip for more dome hp you can upgrade the first shield hp upgrade for extra free shield every round. Over time it saves you a lot of hp for your dome for free(except of the initial upgrade).
Would love to see max lift next.

10 drill strenght on drillbert might not sound like much, but his drill frequency is much faster than the keepers, especially with treats.
but i think going drilliam, ignoring treat upgrades and making a two wide tunnel straight down is the best way to go. then, you can make little 2 tiles deep or triangle shaped intrusions left and right for them to fall into. i haven't tested out if they have to be every 3 or 4 layers though or if the drilltwins auto turn when falling into the intrusions.
that would cost 23 iron/12 water in total. not much compared to 10 strenght drillbert with treats.
so in theory drillbert would go left, turn around, fall down the middle onto the next floor, dig, turn around and fall down again while drilliam would do the same but starting on the right. rinse and repeat until bedrock. the only hard part is setting up the tunnel and surviving early.
Drillbert just needs a little bit of training, treats and love! =)
I feel like if you're making Drillbert instead of your drill, then it might be better to not do the standard 4 tile grid mining, but instead mine the whole area? Set him to mining the entire row, come back when he's finished, mine down one layer, and set him to mining the next?
Your videos are lovely and please don't take this the wrong way but that ending song always reminds me of a different series i used to watch. I just find it funny that's all. I know I haven't said anything relevant to the video but hey, it boosts engagement, or something

drillbert teleporter kinda op. can have drillbert mine and the teleporter sending up resources all you have to do is dig a deep shaft one wide to put the teleporter at the bottom and clean up after drillbert dumping the resources into the pit. literally automate the game
this really makes me appreciate how good Northernlion is at making watching a game not boring

In case you didn't notice at the very beginning when you were picking up the 4 pieces of iron you didn't actually pick up all 4 you picked up the 3 around it so when the iron rotated it dropped out because it wasn't tethered to you ( 0:45 )

removing the time delay on the teleporter is key since it then dont use 4 seconds each time you use it
I think the turn around upgrade was the main idea... but whatever still a good run.

I wanna see you do a drillbert challenge. Drillbert must be the first relic you get, no self-upgrades (obviously upgrading your dome weapon is fine, just no drill, speed or carry upgrades), and once you have drillbert you are only permitted to mine one (non-resource) block down _for the express purpose of lowering drillbert down a level._
How do you manage your resource acquisition? How do you cope when the "set it and forget it" auto-drill relic is the only thing you can occupy yourself with? Watching you excavate the final relic inspired this.

Drillbert is just conent to drill, he deserved to have a lil' buddy and then you instead gave him steroids, still though Drillbert is happy.

You young people with your inane ideas of how this world functions drive me crazy. If something's unknown to you, or it's an unresolved mystery for you, it doesn't automatically mean it's unknown for everyone. Like, you know, when you play hide and seek and cover your eyes, you aren't really invisible.
Let me answer your question:
This is currently a hit game. Literally 20 youtubers I follow play it, obviously within the time frame of its recent release, because that's how most of them create their content. The world does not consist of only Northernlion and yourself, you know, there are also other people besides two people in Canada or where else you might be from. And Northernlion does not use a crystal ball, he sources his information like anybody else: from the internet. I knew about this game six months before this guy or Northernlion, in its pre-release, does that mean they "stole" it from me?
A game has been marketed for a while, so it's quite known in the indie circles, and you either play it or you play something else. Obviously a successful, or at least interesting game will be played by many people because it has to offer something of value, youtubers included.

If you mean the dotted lights on his face it looks exactly like sun through the rope slit of an horizontal blind would do. It's there throughout the video but slowly moving as sun exposure change.

We usually call him trashbert. Letting him stripmine in early game is kinda cool espacially with bert -> Elevator but later in game he does almost nothing on his own. I think the other upgrades are better espacially certain things combined
