Rand says taint, not corruption. Proof that he’s been doing his reading

@@danielflintknapping I wonder if they will give him the same handicap that Rand gets by the end of that book. Wonder what his thoughts would be of having that.

@@GameWizard001 they HAVE to. It's central to his character. If not the whole forearm, at least his hand (easier to work with in VFX).

But it's also proof that the Showrunner didn't.

Josha is a PHENOMENAL actor and is so dedicated to the book series, and it is SUCH a shame that he is such a perfect Rand, but is being wasted on this abysmal adaptation. I almost want to say the FX pilot is better.

Josha explaining the taint was on point for how I sound trying to explain the series to my friends. And it normally just goes over their heads, hahaha.

Josha may have given a wrong answer to the question but I do think he shows an understanding of the source material and I’m excited to see how he brings Rand to screen. Same for Marcus and Perrin.

I’m so excited to see what Marcus can do with Perrin. He’s terrific. I’ve been really impressed by his presence and genuine humility during interviews. He speaks and I’m immediately captivated. It is the same with Zoe. Counting down the days til Friday.

Listening to both these guys talk, I feel they really have tried to understand these characters, Joshua talking of the costs of channelling etc. it gives me hope that this show will be good.

Maude: What's the coolest way to use the One Power?
Josha: gives philosophical deconstruction of the short- and long-term costs and benefits of using the One Power for different characters in the show.
Maude: Fireball. The answer is Fireball.
Great interaction. Also gives me good vibes about the show that the actors are digging into the lore beyond the surface-level. Also also: "Taint". Lol, someone's been reading.

It’s so sad, Josha Stradowski is a PHENOMENAL actor and he adores the books. Rand, Nynaeve, and Mat were the only good casting choices; and Rafe obviously hates Rand & Mat as characters. He neutered Rand and turned Mat into a villain. This show had the potential to be on par with Game of Thrones if they stuck with the story and cut out some of the sloggy elements of the books. Instead, they cut out and outright change EXTREMELY important plot points (female dragon??!? An entire episode dedicated to Stepin who has NO speaking lines in the book????) I understand elements would have to be condensed, but why CHANGE and CUT OUT so much important shit, while simultaneously adding completely irrelevant, boring, unimportant storylines?it’s such a shame, I have loved Josha Stradowski since the movie Just Friends in 2018, I have loved Wheel of Time since I was in 7th grade in 2008, I was so excited to hear the show was being made and I was SO happy when I heard Josha was Rand. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with the show and the casting choices outside of Rand, Mat, and Nynaeve. Rosamund Pike looks the part of Moiraine but I hated her portrayal. Egwene is hideous and poorly acted, Perin’s perpetually open mouth is infuriating and was SO cringeworthy in his acting- especially when arguing with Rand over Egwene in episode 8. And Lan… he was ALMOST decent up until his nipple rubbing at Stepin’s funeral. Jesus, what a travesty. I am convinced Rafe Judkins is Ishamael and Amazon/Bezos is the Dark One. Hopefully HBO makes an adaptation in the near future, near enough for them to keep Josha as Rand.

Having watched season 1 I can confidently say Rafe manages fan expectatioms by not giving a crap. Apparently this is because Rafe hoards all his crap so he can deposit it all over my favourite fantasy series.

There is literally no way they can do it justice. It would more than 20 seasons and they're not going to commit to that, so they're going to either cut it short or cram 3 or 4 books into each season and rush it. Either way, they are going to disappoint.
