I may have a chance to get a used Yamaha (but in good condition) KX-8 usb midi keyboard weighted 88 key for $225-250. That Debussy segment at the opening is just stunning. It's better than the recordings - sure be nice to hear you play the full version sometime. Outstanding 👍🏼
Another great thing to remember about this piano versus Roland Go 88 - not only is it 1kg lighter, but it also takes AA batteries as opposed to D cells. 6 D cell batteries will weigh 1kg or over, whereas six AA batteries are considerably lighter. So the weight different between the Korg Liano and Roland Go 88 closer to 2kg if you are using batteries.

I agree with your assessment about keyboards with hundreds of sounds most people will never use. It's a marketing tool for manufacturers to make people want to buy theirs, and costs them little to nothing to add the sounds. Also great point about not having built in Bluetooth, as almost every device today is Bluetooth capable. It seems a blend of Casio, Korg, and Yamaha features would make an ideal product, that we will probably never see at an affordable price. This sure seems to be a compelling product. I just wish their software would work with 10" Kindle Fire HD tablets. Having to purchase an iPad to work with the software doubles the price.
Agreed. But the iPad Mini 6 256G would be a great thing to have for music and many other things. Many tech reviewers say it is the best all around iPad, as the size makes it easy to handle, but a screen big enough to be easy to view and use. Some traded in their iPad Pros and are happy, but most already have a MacBook Pro, too. So especially for home studio use, this is great for the price and would fit what I need to have a nice 88 key instrument at home with my 2 61 note keyboards, the Roland Go:Keys and Casiotone CT-S1, my Roland JD-Xi synth/vocorder and my Yamaha PSS-A50. When I get a Pro level keyboard, I will use it at church, and also a steal for $1200. The Roland RD 88 that has everything wanted in a professional level stage piano and has 3000 voices, and many things other digital pianos does not have. The bottom line is there something for everyone at different budgets. And this Korg Liano is definitely a gem.
That Korg Gadget LE software looks amazing, but it was really sad to learn that it's only for Apple products or windows devices? I was really hoping to have the same setup as Jeremy shows in the video, but with my own Android tablet... Are there any Android alternatives to this software?
Just ordered one. I know my chords, I had lessons but never stuck with it. Decided at this price point, I can be as awful as I want with no buyer’s remorse.
One more thing: Regarding the missing indicator light for the sound selector, that's an age-old problem with a lot of devices. My solution: Apply a small spot of white type correction fluid (remember those?) inside or next to the notch. Problem solved.
I'm looking up different keyboards right now because I want to RELEARN how to play. So far all your videos have been great. This keyboard sounds awesome, but yea that audio jack is a problem for me
An excellent video review, as usual! The one thing I would miss is an onboard strings/piano layered sound. Otherwise, it's impressive for the price. But I'm loving my Yamaha PSR-E473 with the microphone input. I really wish I would have gotten the PSR-EW425 with the 76 keys, though.
Do you live in Singapore? I don't know how different are brands that sold in Singapore or Indonesia (where do I live), but maybe you (if you can) should try Fort Batavia and compare it to Artesia PE-88. They are in the same-range price, but I want to know your opinion about the sound quality. Thank you.
I picked up an inexpensive electric piano for about $300 on a Black Friday sale several years ago. All 88 keys, a handful of sounds, and weighted keys. I think it even supports MIDI.
The more videos I watch, the more confused I am. It's like more and more instruments reviewed are considered the best. Conclusion: there is no perfect instrument.
The thing I am concerned about is whether the black or white keys near the felt area is ok to press down easily. The Casio CT-S1, LK-S450, and even PX-S7000 do not pass this test. When playing Moonlight Sonata 1st Movement, my thumb and little finger are both on black keys, and I need to use the middle or ring finger to press another black key, so I am force to press it down near the felt area. On those 3 pianos above, it was very difficult.
it is better than on some cheap keyboards, but still quite difficult to play on the keys in between black keys.. I actually hate this action it is like a heavy spring with rubber at the bottom.. and you can hear the rubber noisy every time you press the keys
If this keyboard had pitchbend and mudulation wheels and a standard MIDI out, I am sure music producers would be buying multiple units for their studios.
I noticed that you mentioned that the keyboard can use PA speakers, but wow, some of us can't rake up enough money for that. On My keyboard, it comes with 2 built in speakers at 20 watts each, and measuring 4 inch sub and tweeter, so I'm looking for a better external speakers for my keyboard, so I'm writing to ask your opinion on what I can get for no more than 200 bucks. And good enough for the Pipe Organ sounds and choirs. I want to know what size the speaker woofer needs to be or whether or not I need an amp? I prefer stereo studio or similar. Also, should I buy a subwoofer for the Pipes low sounds? Thanks for your time Jeremy, I try to watch a lot of your videos. Terry
Thank you for the review Jeremy. I have a problem here. I cannot decide which is better: Yamaha PSR-E473 vs Casio CT-X800 vs Korg liano? Which one is better in your opinion? Price is very similar among them
I wish you would mention brand and model number in your title or description!! Your results don’t show up in RUclips searches for this reason. No need to keep it a mystery Jeremy :) just write the name and model!!
Awesome review @JeremySee! I'm super curious if the keys are "true" full size (164-165mm octave width) as opposed to most unweighted keyboards (Casiotone, PSR-E) which have narrower keys (159-160mm). And how does the main piano sound on the Liano compare to the PSR-EW425's main piano?
Thank you for the review! I wanted this keyboard for a long time but ended up ordering Roland piano 88 because the sound in it flows so much better and realistic imo but this Korg is also amazing for the price 😊
I've ordered my first ever digital piano Roland FP-10 which will be my foray into weighted action keys, and also the only digital piano my music store in my vicinity had(btw music stores here in my area is very scarce) i found the sound really very dynamic with such depth. It's about to arrive in couple more weeks. How does this compare to FP-10?! If this was an option, would've gone for this.
Uff i highly disagree on BT.. the latency as well as the lower sound quality even leads to a significant higher price (license, electronics , planning, interference etc)
Sir, how to get the exact tune and sounds of the instrument in a song? ex. ( fireflies by Owl City) using the keyboard piano.. i really appreciate your response.. thanks
Early times for wishes for a second version, but I hope Korg would add a good stage piano and a Wurly e-piano sound to a Liano II and please, please, Korg, add split & layering to an updated version plus two good bass voices for the split function. The lack of split is a show-stopper for me.
I am curious. With a good piano app such as Pianoteq, Ravercroft, Kord Module with Ivory pack, plus the internal USB audio and speaker, does it sound better than the Piaggero NP35 and PSR EW425? Quality of sound output is also depending on quality of internal DAC and amplifier.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone of you guys that review this keyboard mentions how noisy the key bed is ! I like to play soft. All I hear is the clicking sound in the keys in it drives me crazy. It also ruins my recordings unless I recording direct into a recorder !! Open your ears Man
Ignoring the price difference and fancy features. From a pianist point of view looking for the best piano sound, speaker output and good keyboard feel. Korg Liano vs Yamaha PSR EW425, which is better? Which one has better line out with no noise and has better quality output sound?
I bought a Korg D1... For the action on the keys and to practice my scales on it... I would like to play this one wish there was a music shop in these parts... Always a pleasure to watch your demos... ☮🔥🎹
Thank you very much for this review, which came up inscrutably in my thread. I have been wondering whether I should get a piano or electronic keyboard. I would like a piano-like touch, but this might be just what I need. I would like to have a little music at my fingertips after decades without it. Again, thank you.
I would have to play it too know if it’s for me. Love your videos. I’m an owner of a kawai mp7se. It is very heavy but I’ve been looking for one cheaper and lighter to use for church so i don’t always have to lift it but still has a professional sound that can lead through worship no prob the way the kawai can. You are a beautiful player man!
I really like your samples @8:23 an 8:54. Having carried a Fender Rhodes 73 since 1975 to every apartment in my life I would really appreciate the less strain on my back. It's the lower register keys I miss the most. thanks for pursuing Art.
At least you play a Rhodes, and not a Hammond C3! Friends help you move; REALLY good friends help you move a Hammond! Haha! (I got my C3 for free, and it has the same innards as a B3.)
Wow, this is exactly what I needed and more! Buying as a gift while knowing nothing about pianos, and this video was a gem of a find. I make videos for a living and seeing how well this was put together is astounding. Thank you very much, sir 🤝
I bought the Liano before watching this video. I was sold on the psr e473 from your videos. Went to buy it then realised, i don't need so many features. Just wanted something simple 🙂
The Liano looks and sounds nice for a small unit. It would be nicer yet if it had an optional stand with three pedals to go with it, but for bare bones and portable use it looks wonderful. Looking around, I saw it being sold with Knox stand and bench.
too long video and if allready have 88 then its same size its not smaller its same size. its lighter for sure bcoz not have sliders and screen you never use. thats why it cost less, but we not need we allready have 700 keyboard it works! xD
You've done some great videos on starter keyboards and to not to waste your money so I would add to that: do NOT buy a beginner keyboard _without_ an actual MIDI port. You'll be wasting your cash when you need one with an actual MIDI port in a year. A USB "MIDI" keyboard is not a MIDI keyboard. Here's how you can tell: try to plug your USB keyboard into a MIDI port. Yeah, it won't work. You can wave your USB cable over your MIDI device all you want and pray to the MIDI gods but it still won't work. Just to be clear: DO NOT BUY A KEYBOARD WITHOUT AN ACUTAL MIDI PORT! You'll just have to buy a new one later.
Hey Jeremy, I ordered this Korg L1 Liano. Snagged one of the last two on a discount on BestBuy Canada for $399. I was wondering if I should go with weighted or semi-weighted as opposed to this light action keys? I am a beginner but I won't upgrade for long. How critical are the weighted action keys? Btw, I am a huge fan and you have single handedly advanced the keyboard/piano content on RUclips. Kudos!!
Sorry for replying after so long but did you end up choosing the Liano? I have been playing for years and decided to upgrade my old keyboard. However I see people saying that semi weighted isn't worth buying and such.
Always enjoy your videos and have used your advice to make my purchase decisions. I have picked up piano at the age of 75, had lessons as a kid and played a little as an adult until it became too ponderous to move a piano cross country. Been relearning since October 2023. I also have a Casio PX-S3100 and I enjoy it except that I practice with headphones and I can hear the ‘clunk’ of key action outside of the headphones and it’s irritating. I got the Casio CT-S1 for a portable solution for practice when I’m not at home. Reviews of the Korg Liano mention the quiet key action. How does the feel compare to the two Casios I have? I have PX-S3100 set to lightest key action. I find I need to adjust to the semi-weighted feel of the CT-S1, is the Liano similar in feel or is it a little more like the PX-S3100? I have also found that even though the hundreds of sounds and rhythms were attractive when I researched, I find that I generally only use concert grand, stage and jazz piano voices, and none of the rhythms. Since the Liano weighs right in between the two Casios, I’m considering going to one piano, the Liano. What are your thoughts?
Wtf man this is like, 300 or 400 dollars, which would be, respectively, 1470 Brazilian reais or 1961 reais, but here i can't find any of this keyboards below 3000 reais (611 dolars) 😢😢😢 i hate living in this expensive ass country
Hello @jeremySee ....getting to that stage in my life where I need the kind of music that "speaks my language" when I am in my zone. I am a beginner and was just wondering if the Casio CDP-S110BK Digital Piano with 88 Weighted Keys makes the cut? Secondly, do you have an idea on the capacity of its "beats bank"? Thank you for your guidiance and wow, will I ever get to play as good as you?
I didn't like the built in sounds of these pianos at all honestly. Your playing was fantastic tho. The piano sounds muffled muddy with bad high end and almost no room sound for the pianos making them all sound like cheap early 2000's piano sounds. The E piano's were decent. The church organ sounded ok but very generic the more bluesy organ was awful. The software Is definitely where this bundle shines and has many quality sounds. Honestly i'm surprised korg ships a board with such basic and bad stock sounds in 2023 tho. Tho sample instruments has never been korgs strong point.
For home use, ES920 is better than CN301? It is good in the sound engine but CN301 has 4 speakers. And another question, I have the option of purchasing a used CN29 at half price. Is it even better?
Hello @jeremysee I am looking for a 61 portable piano with weighted or semi weighted keys. Couldn’t find any, do you know one that is good quality? Thanks in advance
hello @JeremySee Im having trouble recording the audio from the korg liano to my reaper . It recognizes the Liano as a normal MIDI device and not as a soundboard , can you help me? is it a reaper issue?
Will this keyboard work well with travel gigs connected to a sound system , specifically getting a good stereo sound using a TRS 1/8" to 1/4" cable or adapter? It's disappointing that there is no regular 1/4" output/headphones jack. This would be perfect for me due to being a light 88 key keyboard. Please advise.
I bought one: the electric organ sound is bonkers in the lower octaves, as is the 2nd electric piano: is this usual to be only good for mid-range (for electric keyboard organ sounds), and caused by weak speakers as my local store is telling me? This is the 2nd Liano now as I turned back the 1st one thinking it defective. Should I hold onto it anyway?
The best keyboard for solo piano gigs. I have a weighted one but ever since I bought this, I never take the weighted one out. This keyboard is almost always in my car. It’s light enough to put on your back with a case. Makes gigging so much more pleasant. For band gigs, I use 61 keys.
The thing is, there’s only one decent Italian piano maker, Fazioli, whose instruments cost over $100k. I doubt they would allow another manufacturer sample it. The harpsichord, you’re right, doesn’t sound great, but at least It makes all the notes of equal loudness. This is actually what you want, since that is also a characteristic of a real harpsichord. The thing that keyboard makers don’t understand about harpsichord is that there is a little “click” when you lift the key. On a real harpsichord, it’s caused by the plucking part of the jack (harpsichords have jacks, pianos have hammers) sliding underneath the string and snapping into place. It’s barely audible, so the effect is all most subliminal, but it creates a small articulation if used properly, and articulation is what harpsichord playing is all about. If you’re going to play that Invention as a sample, you need to put “air” into it. Separate the longer notes from each other. Use different types of staccato. That gives the piece more energy and a stronger pulse.
For the price of a midi controller with no sounds, that ain't half bad. Keep your wrists up! And one more thing, will someone pleeease think of the Bösendorfer?!?! Not a single 94 key e piano...
Great review on this keyboard as I am considering purchasing this item mainly for the portability, you made some good points on what it lacks and I hope Korg takes this up on future builds.
If it only would fold, I need something for traveling and there are only some crap pianos that fold. Ok, it's lightweight, but what does it matter if I can't take it easily one a plane?

does it come with a pedal?
I would love a med to high quality 88 key digital piano that just had grand piano sound. I don’t need the other sound options. Any thoughts?
Unfortunately, everyone here dreams of buying your magic hands too. :D
True..heheh
Got a question as a beginner
Does the damper pedal is the same as sustain pedal
You can buy them for only hundreds hours of hard work and training 😂

Sounds much better than the B series I used to own. This is more closer to PA600's default piano, also based on high end Korg lineup such as Kronos

Great review. More reviews of this keyboard need to be seen. It is an achievement for quality and price, not to mention weight!
Uff i highly disagree on BT.. the latency as well as the lower sound quality even leads to a significant higher price (license, electronics , planning, interference etc)
when you said " one of the quietest keys"i had to laugh cos i owned one 88 keys with 5 times of this price and it's keys are very noisy!!!
It was cool that you played "As the deer"!
better than casio cdp s110? similar price, and there's the roland fp10 for 400, im between them
Hope it can act as a MIDI controller to load/control other patches, because the sounds I heard here were really bad.
I came here for a keyboard review and got accidentally serenaded to tears by Debussy. Love it.
Sir, how to get the exact tune and sounds of the instrument in a song? ex. ( fireflies by Owl City) using the keyboard piano.. i really appreciate your response.. thanks
U r superb.... God bless you more... ❤️From India
Early times for wishes for a second version, but I hope Korg would add a good stage piano and a Wurly e-piano sound to a Liano II and please, please, Korg, add split & layering to an updated version plus two good bass voices for the split function. The lack of split is a show-stopper for me.
3:18 One electric piano sound that I like so much is the KORG 01/W Pro's Dyno Piano.
How is this Korg Liano compared with NUX NPK 10?
I might go all-out choosing this expensive yet cheapest price point I can physically find.
This is included now in my top 5 choices.

This is very thorough thank you. I've heard this is a very quiet keyboard - do you agree? What would you say is the quietest keyboard? Thanks

This feature is what I'm looking for
Thank you very much for this review, which came up inscrutably in my thread.
Why Studiologic Numa Compact was not considered as a competitor?
I really like your samples @8:23 an 8:54. Having carried a Fender Rhodes 73 since 1975 to every apartment in my life I would really appreciate the less strain on my back. It's the lower register keys I miss the most. thanks for pursuing Art.
At least you play a Rhodes, and not a Hammond C3! Friends help you move; REALLY good friends help you move a Hammond! Haha! (I got my C3 for free, and it has the same innards as a B3.)
Thank you for the work on the price of a keyboard for the few of us who cannot afford the higher points of this type of equipment.
Wow, this is exactly what I needed and more! Buying as a gift while knowing nothing about pianos, and this video was a gem of a find. I make videos for a living and seeing how well this was put together is astounding. Thank you very much, sir 🤝
500 Dollars and more it is costing in Brazil...unfortunately...
That would be cool!
I wonder if the STB1 stand (meant for B1 and B2) will suit the liano
If we talk about korg liano l1 vs casio cdp s110 then which one should i go for? New to this
It's nice to hear how the keyboard sounds like from a person who knows how to play and knows what they're talkin about keep up the good work
Are the black keys lighter than the white keys though?
its 1175 USD in amazon mexico lol even with the low dollar exchange
Nice review! Does this piano have a split keyboard capability?
Great playing, except during the pipe organ demo. Toccata and Fugue in D minor starts out with A-G-A, not A-G#-A.
too long video and if allready have 88 then its same size its not smaller its same size. its lighter for sure bcoz not have sliders and screen you never use. thats why it cost less, but we not need we allready have 700 keyboard it works! xD
How much does the bundle software cost?
Hey JeremySee do you know if the Liano L1 can be powered from usb?
I don't knew anything besides there is other recommendations in description
Hi, does the Korg Liano 88 have transpose and Layer feature?
I can tell you're Singaporean just by your accent.
Sir, is the keys suitable and responsive for playing advanced classical repertoire with heavy pesantes and soft p, touch?
Sir I am a beginner piano player, I currently use Yamaha psr ew310. Now between Korg Liano and Yamaha P45, which gear should I buy?
Which one should I buy between korg liano and yamaha p145? Here in my country this korg liano is 12% cheaper than p145
Great review on this keyboard as I am considering purchasing this item mainly for the portability, you made some good points on what it lacks and I hope Korg takes this up on future builds.
Can we use it as midi to fl studio ?
That clav soundz preddi guud...Methinks you tryin' to impress us who neva playd a real harpsichord. B3 = cheez.
If it only would fold, I need something for traveling and there are only some crap pianos that fold. Ok, it's lightweight, but what does it matter if I can't take it easily one a plane?
HI JEREMY is korg liao actually have dynamics??
