The people who hate on Crate Hackers are the same know-it-all types who just complain 24/7. They have so much free time and they use it hating on topic after topic. I like to use Crate Hackers for several of the tools available on the platform. The text to crate for my weddings is such a time saver. I

most of DJs are into a routine, and they perform well in the set they do, and this so true that even if the set isnt the right set for a specific crowd, they master so much this set that it gives them confiance and its organic, so it will work better then a set they feel lost, even if its the right music.
so for most of DJs they dont like to dig into crates that its not theirs or their own, they dont try or risk. (most of them are artisants, not artist)
so goin way outside your limits is so cool, like you receive a playlist and you never played a single song and thats all you have for the night. you cant choose something else, not a single song. you never played that. all the songs are dangerous for a dancefloor and ..yeah you'll play them all. lol figure it out how you'll mix them! (thats offen happening with cultural difference)
like here we are French Canadians.. I Will Dance With Somebody can play but its not a bagner didnt play that for over 15 years. Wobble is unknown. Cest La Vie is the no1 with I Feel Like A Woman.. Uptown Funk is good, Cupid Shuffle doesnt work.
so english crates and french crates are very different, and the french from France is way more different lol. we dont understand them for the french part.. (we dont realy play french music, we just dont ear english music the same way english people do)
so basicly having to play for long times, into music I never played, that I'm not confortable.. is now natural and its my power because I experiment a lot!! I gamble a lot! I always play new stuff I never played to test the reaction.. I love crates that I never played with.
In clubs, I never play a song twice ever.. (not in the same night.. just ever. all nights combined. its my motto) so I need to find new versions or new songs that will play, and next week I have to start all over again. and its mainstream club music.. that exercice is super hard...
so all the djs that dont see the value in crates, or the tools, are the one that are in routines. they think they are creatives, they say they dont always play the same stuff.. but they do lop. and they can't go down the rabbit hole in a particular set. they cant play 10h straight of 80s music with radio edits only and everything is well done beat to beat with momentums.. they cant do that with the 13'800 disco songs.. they are not deep enought. so they dont understand these tools.. they dont value it!
    I love "shortcut" crates packted
in a set fonctionality, and try to be in an other DJ shoes to learn from it..
playlist format and the spotify tools are awesome.. and most djs are always complaining in comments 😅 lol

Their approach to making your library smaller is the only thing I personally do not agree with but I understand their point....however it is still the best community of DJ's and has a plethora of tools and resources not to mention their weekly hacks...again just another way to stay engage in our industry. I have yet to take full advantage of all their tools though but for what I use from out of my membership I am happy to support them.

Having 32 edits of a song is a bit excessive no matter how you look at it. I think they arent about making things smaller, its about dialing in to the things that actually work, that can be found and used easily as opposed to stashing edits and music that never will ever be even loaded into your serato decks. I know what you mean, but I dont think crate hackers is about less - its about working smarter to me.

@@Jason_Jani You are correct. I did not think about edits when I was referring to the library because I do a lot of video mixing and I don't on't have edits that come in video format... So to that point yes that makes a lot of sense.

Dude, Crate Hackers is an invaluable resource, I built a rock crate based off of every rock crate I could find. The night I played the rock crate killed it made the most tips I ever made!

I really love Crate Hackers but I do have an issue with too many crates of the same stuff. It feels really disorganized and hard to find what I'm looking for. I really like the tools though.

Jason, when you play a crate you made do you generally play in a (BPM ORDER)?

Anyone who hates on CH's is looking at from a very narrow lens. You are right, look at the tools. The text importer is another part of the app I use a lot. DJ Intelligence lists can be copied and pasted into CH's and it will then bring up my library giving my options on what version I can play. But, also tell me what songs I need to buy. Then export into my crate. Cuts my prep time in half.
