DELETED 2017 Cummins G56 Ride-Along

- Take a ride in my 2017 Ram 2500 Tradesman with the 6.7 Cummins and the G56 manual transmission. I love this setup, especially since it's been deleted and tuned. There aren't many videos of these trucks WITH a muffler, but as you can tell, the sound is still there and it's not obnoxious. I couldn't be happier.
Around 5:50, I shift to level 2 and you can hear the stock clutch start slipping. I'll be upgrading that to a dual disc soon.
If you have any questions, ask away in the comments. I'll be glad to help.

Manual six speed Cummins with manual transfer case...totally badass. These are few and far between, soon to be extinct. Keep that truck forever bro !
Yeah, I’m not getting rid of this one anytime soon! All the fancy electronics in trucks these days are just problems waiting to happen.
Didn’t even notice the manual transfer case until you mentioned it. This would be my choice in a truck.
I agree. The new ram 1500 has a massive screen in it. Why do you need a tv in your truck? These things are turning into family limos.
I just bought a new 2018 just like this!
@@vtdeezl I bought a 2014 High Country last week and the GPS fin was corroded out and the rear brake light was leaking into the liner getting god knows what else wet since it had a fancy dvd player and sunroof..... went right back to the dealer and got my money back! I'm looking at 2018 cummins right now and would only get manual transfer case. Is it possible to swap the 68RFE with a G56 on the 2018s? Finding one from factory is damn near impossible so i figured at best I could swap it down the road..
Real man’s truck right there
Blake Zimmerman Mine would be single cab, long bed, manual, Cummins and tradesman
@@juljasmaharchive was gonna have one built exactly like that but they discontinued the 4th gen.
@@juljasmaharchive everyone says that but no one buys them
Dodge sucks
Great video and a badass truck. We need more trucks with manual transmissions.
base model trucks are the best, with the only necessary equipment, nothing about huge screens and lots of electronic shit, and most importantly, manual transfer case. Beautiful truck, congrats.
Sebastián well said
True. But with the way some laws are, hands free and that stuff, having a nav system at least is a must. For me.
So cool. Nothing like stick shift. So enjoyable and engaging. Pure fun.
I love my G56. The only bad thing is the clutch. It won’t handle much more than +50hp in mods. My South Bend clutch has over 150k miles on it and it still holds 1000 torque like the day I installed it.
How much you paid for?
@@rafaelcastro6743 Sheesh its been so long but i want to say $1500 for clutch including flywheel and found a guy to put it in for $500
I thought was cheaper. Do u still have the truck?
@@rafaelcastro6743 I do. Still going strong. SouthBend has some quirks but is rock solid on the street, at the dragstrip and pulling a trailer.
Glad you made a video. Had an 07 with the g56. Loved it. I have a 17 tradesman now also with the auto. Sure wish I had gone with the manual again.
Every time I watch this video I get more and more jealous. They are hard to find now
Nothing is more bullet proof than a 6 speed cummins. Sweet sounding rig man!
gotta love a cummins with a mansmission
Why? You want a manual so you get 200 lbs less torque than a auto. Make NO sense.
Sly Ny someone’s mad that they don’t know how to drive a manual.
@@keatoncollins682 Yeah. Since I own a mustang and camaro with manuals. Just stupid to get a manual when you get less power.
Keaton Collins someone likes towing less
JulJasMah i’m sure a manual would tow whatever i needed it too.
Gotta love that exhaust brake. Dad has a 2016 2500hd tradesman crew cab. Not the most premium interior but without having all the nice things, there’s less stuff to break 😂. His is auto but still is nice and same with yours bro, love the manual.
This configuration would be perfect in a regular cab, long bed.
Wow! This truck will LOVE you forever. You drive it so excellently! Thank you...
Thanks for the upload! Really enjoyed watching
That's such a badass rigg sir I been looking for a stick shift diesel truck and it's 4*4?
I have a 2014 2500 with the manual and 503,000 miles on it. I love it, but just so everyone knows you loose about 200 lbs of torque, fuel mileage is about the same as an auto, and the manual is more expensive to replace. 2018 is the last year manual will even be an option. I'm buying a new 18 and it will be an automatic this time, I just hope it will last close to 500,000 miles like my manual did.
are you trading in or selling your 2014 2500?
@@officialbazzargaming I'm actually keeping it till I can fix it. After I fix it I plan on hiring someone to drive it. I bought a new one it had 30 miles a month ago, but I've put about 20,000 miles on it and still trying to get use to an automatic. I will probably end up driving it and hire someone to drive the automatic.
@@officialbazzargaming also just another little tidbit the instrument cluster goes out at 1,000,000 kilometers aka around 620,000 miles.
That’s a ton of miles on a g56. My 2018 barely made it to 60,000 before the first gear synchronizer sh*t the bed and grenaded the whole tranny. Dealership tried to pin it on my tune and triple disc valair clutch. However even if ram would have agreed to cover it (everything is pointing to the factory preload and head spacing incorrectly set) there are zero G-56 spare transmissions in the entire mopar inventory since Getrag stopped making them and parts for it 3 years ago
That's a sweet truck!
they stop offering manuals in America because people claimed that it was too complicated to learn how to drive a manual vehicle 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ohhh shit and american that can drive a Manual car...... must be a European
Respect for not having a girly automatic.
What’s “girly” about an automatic
Juljasmah he doesn’t tow so he’s not a man
Funny. My 72 year old grandma has a 2007 6.7L 4x2 with the G56. 130,000 on stock truck with Deleted cats but not tuned.
Your grandma is a bad ass 🤙🤙
Was this a g56 swap or what did I just watch? Just some dude recording himself driving? If it’s a swap video yeah it works good nice job.
Most boring truck on the road.
I test drove a brand new one with a dealer installed level & at tires, even took it mudding.
That thing was so slow that it couldn't keep up with my wife's Ford focus.
I can't see a tune doing alot to help it other than maybe make it bearable.
I’m sorry, I’m having a hard time believing any dealership would let you take a brand new $50k+ truck “mudding”, especially if you showed up in a Ford Focus. But hey, thanks for watching!
@@vtdeezl
No,I showed up in a tricked out 15 powerstroke.
I just went by the house to hose off the mud before taking the ram back & followed the wife back to town as she wanted to eat but didn't want to go to the dealer
@@charleshenson4183 Not that I believe your story but...In YOUR defense, when I bought my '12 I thought the same thing. Get a tune, turn off (stupid) torque management and it drives more like a truck...and will smoke a 5.0 mustang...js
Does anyone know where I can get a manual swap done here in Tx?
Paschal Performance
Literally my dream truck. Hopefully one day it’ll happen. Nice vid bud 👍🏻
Same here as of recent.. My GM Canyon feels as if it is getting smaller an' smaller the more my kids grow, and on top of that, this truck is in need of some issues fixed and not even 43,000 on the clock..
What fuel mileage are you getting with that setup?
I'm averaging 19-20 on the highway, 16-17 in town. I've gained about 3mpg from stock overall, even with the 35s.
@@vtdeezl damn! That's awesome for that big ass truck! My old Accord didn't even get that good gas mileage!
@@nmendoza1234 something was very wrong with your Accord if it wasn't getting 20mpg, even if it was the 6 cylinder
man that’s a sweet ass truck🤪. 1-reason I won’t buy a brand new truck is because of the DPF system= slow death on all Diesel engines. You know it’s bad when they remove all the good stuff out of Engine oil for newer diesels because the manufactures would rather protect their DPF systems that are far more expensive than the engine. good oil with all the additive packages screws up their DPF system. engineers know the DPF system is slow death on the engine. but it’s cheaper to sacrifice the engine. you can remove it but if you got popped or live in a inspection state you’re screwed. that’s why I decided to do a complete rebuild/restoration on a ram 12 valve instead and saved myself 40k. don’t get me wrong The new trucks are pretty sweet. and i wish the EPA didn’t destroy the diesel otherwise I would’ve bought a new truck.
I don’t know you but I love you
Sweet Victory I love you too.
REAL trucks don't shift themselves! Love it! Plus, no large and annoying touch screen on the dashboard console.
I really like that truck but what I don't like is those manual vehicles, automatics are better without having to move a lever every second just to drive.
damn, the testosterone is coming out the fucking video, lol
How i exspect every cummins owner to look😂
Didn’t know Ram still offered a manual transmission.
Up to 2018 they did.
I am buying a 2018 2500 with a G56, with upgraded clutch rated at 800 hp and 1200 lbs. Its also studded and deleted. on 37 in falken A/T and 5 in lift. cant wait.
Sell me this truck for real, ready to buy!
I love how every owner of a manual RAM does the cool throttle blip right before they actually go
I think this year Cummins is seriously the pinnacle! Perfect amount of technology, and with a bulletproof powertrain.
What transmission fluid do you use?
I hate when people take the badges off the truck lol. It took me a while to find a cummins with the badging all intact. But other than that I cant wait till i can get mine deleted.
Fun! 07 5.9 Megacab here with a swapped in G56ae and made the 273d transfer case manual. Yep, keeping it.
*MURICA* 🇺🇸
Love this truck. Personally I like base model trucks. No bullshit electronics, a manual transfer case, and no chrome.
wow that is my dream truck, awesome! cool video
Mize farm next to Pals? You’re in Gray TN! Wish I could see your truck man I’m looking at a 16 6spd. Awesome truck bud
2018 CrewCab 3500 G56 short box Tradesman Cummins owner here from Kentucky! Awesome 👏
mine is manual too 2018
When you tuned it, did you have to do anything to the transmission at all?
I had the stock clutch in this video and it held good on level one, but anything higher than that made it slip. I’ve got a dual disc now and it’s rock solid.
That truck sounds bad to the fucking bone💪💪💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Got the same exact truck. I think your steering wheel is crooked? Mines crooked the same way and everything lmao
who the hell would comment "this guys fat and this guy has 'tude??? get a life!! this guy is nice enough to take time and post this so have / show some respect!!
Nice Hollywood ride along.. I didn't even see you pick your nose once or yell at other drivers. I do like the truck though
Hey man I have a 2014 crew cab long bed also with the G56 and have a little lurch when letting off the throttle and reaccelerating when it’s in gear.. do you have the same problem or know what it could be?
Stock clutch? I have a g56 I just deleted and I worried about my clutch
Amazing truck! very reliable and sturdy.
I didn't understand what he said?
I've got a dakota with 5 speed, manual transfer case, it has the 4.7 . I'm going to swap a 6.4 hemi in it, 500hp,
I would love to find a mint Dakota but they're all rust buckets here in Canada.
What muffler are you running? Left my stock cat in the downpipe for noise control, but when I decide to get rid of it, I'd like a nice muffler.
Levi H FloPro 30” muffler on a 5” pipe.
Where im from over here at south texas its difficult to find one like that Manual
Sounds amazing 👌🏻
I have a 2014 2500 tradesman g56 and I have 140,000 miles on it
Good video. I have an 08 deleted studded and tuned. South bend dual disc and 5" exhaust. She will let loose when i crank the tune up
dkhill27 This stock clutch is killing me! It wants to move but the clutch won’t let it. I can’t wait to get a dual disk so I can get the most out of this tuning.
@@vtdeezl With a dual disc. You will be happy with the power it can put down. Mine is rated for 650hp. I'm just at 500 or little under with my calculations haven't had her on a dyno yet.
dkhill27
One of the only ride along's that the camera can hear the exhaust, it's great for the video but it must get annoying for you on long trips.
Sad this will be one of the last new manual diesels. Looking to buy one soon
How smooth is the G56? Ive only ever owned NV5600's.
Its different, but smooth when you get used to it
It's more clunky than the nv5600. The NV has quicker smoother shifts and would be a better racing transmission. The G56 is a nice strong trans also, I just miss the smoothness of my NV5600.
I think big benefit of the G56 vs nv5600 is reverse location on the shift pattern.
Hey man I like the ya it sounds. I have a similar truck. 2017 ram tradesman double cab long bed.
Could you share any info about the stuff you used?
I would like to make it a real diesel!
Thanks
Looking at buying a 17 with a g56. How well does it hold power? Is it reliable tuned and deleted?
So you don't need to release your feet from the gas when you shift?
The fact u can hear the exaust brake in the recording is enough to make a man to go wild
Dose your truck have the transfer case drive line chatter when letting off the clutch or throttle? I done a lot of research most g56 trucks do. Yours sounds pretty smooth.
Dream truck
Let's us know what you have on far is the delete accessories
Have you towed anything heavy with it yet. Curious how the coil spring handle weight. Looking at a 2500 and in unsure how it will handle 15000lbs
The water ripple makes me think of t Rex
Never bought a new truck but if I did this would be it. I like the way this one is set up. Not a fan of all the electronics.
Do you still have this truck?
Ypu didnt let her warm up! 😂
I'm looking at getting a dodge truck with a diesel engine and a speed transmission.
6 Manual gears for men's 👌🏻
Defend these trucks at all costs
Jealous!
Sweet truck.
Thanks for the ride along.
I'm looking to replace my 98 12 valve with this truck. I actually want it as bare bones as possible, with the exception of some nice comfy leather seats.
Darrin Lapua a 98 12 valve is a rare truck. It’s the holy grail. THE
@jeremy pollitt You're two years too late. But yes, I wish I didn't sell it. Fortunately, I still know the guy who owns it and it doesn't look like he really drives it that much so I could probably buy it back if I wanted to.
That’s a badass truck man! I’ve looked online for one and those are rare. One of those is in the near future for me 🇺🇸
in the cluster can you still see the trans temp? i know yours in deleted but i might be picking up this exact truck monday. found out it was a manual and couldnt hold back. lol
also whats your MPG roughly
i guess disregard. its manual. where did you purchase your turbo back exhaust and egr delete kit?
Nice truck
Nice truck
It looks so effortless
i could watch this video on loop, all day! .. beautiful truck
Manual shift
Why do all guys who drive a dodge, think they’re so bad ass. They get an attitude when they drive one
Blake’s 66 Chevy Go drive one and find out. Grew up a Ford guy and still have a couple 7.3’s but one of my buddies a while ago had a 5.9 and now a G56 6.7 and gave me that exact advice when I asked him why he raved about it so much. 5 minutes behind the wheel of a Cummins shut me up.
Because the truck itself is badass you wouldn’t know that Mr. Chevy
nice sound turbo whistle!!
Manual transmission is the way to go👍
How she do towing?
Pulls like a champ. Backing up my travel trailer into a tight spot is a little tricky with the dual disc, but it’s not bad.
VTDeezl my 07 5.9 with the g56 was that way. Sure do miss that dually. I have a 17 2500 now auto. First auto I've ever owned in a diesel. And I would much rather have the manual
My one regret when I bought my 2017, I didnt go with the 6-speed. If I had the chance to trade into one I likely will, they stopped making the manual with the next gen trucks.
Just swap a manual in. I did it in my 2018 when I killed the first automatic that was in it. The swap is easier than you think
Man that looks like fun!!
Are you starting in 2nd? Or is it a dog leg
1st gear in the g56 is basically a bulldog gear, I can take off in 3rd with mine lol
What all is done to the truck?
I like your diesel truck
What size is the radio and do you have Bluetooth on it? Gonna order a 2018 and trying to find what all i want
It’s the Uconnect 3.0 (RA1). I do have Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a backup camera in the mirror.
What trim is your pickup
Sounds good. I may have to follow suit soon
Any videos towing?
Hey brother, pretty much have the same truck. Awesome rig. Question for you. The Ccv breather, do you still have a filter in your crank case vent? Or is it gone. I hear both side of the 6.7 need back pressure and that it doesn’t. I have my filter in still. If you could answer it be awesome thanks!
John Pal I left the filter in but put a breather on it and capped the turbo side. Never had an issue. No leaking, no smells, nothing.
That was quick dude. Thank you. Do you know anything about the race me ultra tuner? I run the box tunes eventually wanna do custom or do EFI live I think with this much knowledge now I think it’s what people want I think they are both awesome
John Pal Personally, I’d look at EZ-Lynk or EFI Live. Go on facebook and check out 6.7 Cummins HD Ram Forum. Tons of good info in that group.
VTDeezl you the man dude thank you
