Iroful quickly became my favorite paper for letter writing, It shows off ink properties wonderfully, I just love it. There are a couple things that people should know before buying it though. If you didn't like Cosmo Air Light paper, Iroful paper acts very similarly. Your nibs will write wider than they do on other papers like Rhodia or Tomoe River, and the paper is VERY sensitive with hand oils. You will need to be mindful to use a protective piece of paper or something like that under you hand when writing.
its easy to understand why is so - its brilliant in so many ways and its very smooth bringing the best in inks :D - yes in testing we've seen that it is sensitive to hand oils, maybe a touch more than tomoe river but we all at our HQ we use like a sheet of plastic under the hand when using any paper that is fountain pen friendly when writing, forgot to mention this in the video tho :(
A viewer sent me a pack of this paper and I agree that it's really quite good stuff! I hadn't ever seen it for sale, so I'm glad to find someone who is carrying it.
:D difficult to stock up on it because we waited or a parcel for 6 months in transit via sea but its nice to finally have it and try it and then to have it for a good amount of time so anyone that gets one can be sure ill find more the second time they need a restock on it
Of all the pens you could have used I laughed when you actually pulled out the sharpie 😄 that was a fun moment. I am sooo glad someone finally started carrying iroful paper notebooks! I have the loose sheets but I never use it. Living between cities, I need my papers to be bound and stiched together or else I loose them. As I was watching you, I was wondering where the iroful loose sheets are right now 😂 A notebook will be great basically. And 5 mm grid/dots and 7 mm lined paper! That is wonderful! Finally someone in Japan realised that there are people who loves broader nibs and don’t particularly like blank paper even if it is great quality
we've missed you Mualla :D how are you ? - of all the pens :)) I had to take the sharpie ... :)) We've took a closer look at Japanese paper and tried to come up with a good selection that will be available for more time than just a batch of a few weeks so users and lovers of these papers can find a good amount of them all the time in stock at pen venture :D On iroful you need to know that its a touch more sensitive to hand oils so whenever Emily my daughter plays with my notebooks :)) the pens skip like crazy on those pages ... sometime I find her fingerprints :)) where the pen skips - thats when I pick up my ballpoints and rollers for those pages :D Get to use this paper because it makes the nib sizes feel a bit bigger than what is on the nib so this paper combined with a BB its a show :)) try it
@@pen.venture Yes a shopful of amazing pens and you went for the sharpie 😄 I think that was funny and very real at the same time.. I'm slowly easing back to a new sort of normalcy... it has been quite a rollercoaster of a season for us. You know when absolutely nothing goes as expected and everything blows up all over the place at the same time.. well that's how it has been, and it certainly got to be very interresting throughout. Well.. that's life for you 😊 As I have dry hands I almost always use hand creams so I am very used to have a blotting card or two in my notebooks for paper protection. But none of us can do much about little fingers getting hold of our books so I just enjoy it and I'm sure you do too. Besides using some other writing instrument every so often makes me realise how much I love my FPs. So kids get to have fun with adults' stuff and we get to appreciate this madness called fountain pens 😁
@@pen.venture I forgot to say that I'll take the advice on the BB pen. Actually when I go back home I will use a 3OB nibbed 149 that is a gloriously wet writer.. I'll let you know the outcome 😉
What is the average drying time when ink comes in contact with the paper? It is amazing how different papers reveal how fountain pen inks reveal themselves. Thank you for your video presentation.
drying time is ok - id say its similar to tomoe river, maybe a touch better than tomoe river (quicker - but very little). What I found delightful is the smoothness on it and also that the nib sizes are a bit chunkier on iroful than other papers like ... an EF can dance and feel smooth smooth on this paper + the ink colors is a big bonus
:D those are so nice.... just happen to put one of those away for me to try soon :D We always try to have these items that are not that available everywhere else and to bring them in a large amount so for a long time someone can try an item and then to have a place where it finds it for more than just a batch.
Ive bee looking for a while for a nice paper to write on with my fountain pens & here we go with another great review. You make me drool to get this paper ;D There's nothing one can say about Japanese quality, just the best of all. Thank you my friend :)
hmmm - I think Rhoda is the best supply/bulk paper that one can benefit from at a reasonable price and it works well with any writing instrument (ballpoint/roller/pencil/fp/sharpie)
seems to be a less expensive good paper and easy accessible as its listed in many stores - as of actual quality and performance, its id say in the middle ... enough to be a good option

An artist's glove also works well.
Amazing performance, the Iroful shows off all the best qualities of inks. Also like that the notebooks lay flat.
Totally agree! Thank you for the support :D

Oohh I'll be stocking up on those 160 pages notebooks. I love Iroful paper 🤩 Thank you for bringing all these options in your shop 🙏

The comparison wit Rhodia was really interesting! I have Tomoe River paper, but havent tried this yet. Looks good!
Hope you like it Scot! We dive deep to find these Japanese treasures of papers and to bring a good amount of them in stock for everyone

Glad you like them! There is some more paper just about to show up.... new :D form Japan SHHHHH
I love this paper.
you an us all :D we like it at out HQ we get to always find silly reasons to write down stuff on it
Any tips on the best bulk paper from an office supply store? i would like to make my own notebooks and I cant find anything much about good brands.
hmmm - I think Rhoda is the best supply/bulk paper that one can benefit from at a reasonable price and it works well with any writing instrument (ballpoint/roller/pencil/fp/sharpie)
Do you think is that similar to Muji high quality paper?
:D sadly I have not tried till now such a paper like Muji
That swab of Parker Penman was 5$ :))). Such a pitty they don't make it anymore
could be :)) I had to do it ... and shhhhh I have more emerald and the pink one from the same pennman series :))
@@pen.venture 😲
Looks interesting. Just to confirm it’s 160 sheets so it will be 320 pages both sides or they are 80 sheets with 160 pages.. thank you
these are printed only on the front of the sheet
I don't get why people keep recommending Rhodia to be honest. Inks just look extremely dead on it.
