Best book I read this year is Words of Radiance. The entire book was amazing. Couldnt put it down. Love the world and characters. Howling Dark is a close second.
So many good books there. That Dune edition is beautiful. The Lonesome Crown was such a fantastic finale to the series. One of those rare trilogies where each book is of the same high quality (though I preferred Book 3 just slightly more because it wrapped everything up so well). I really liked Fire and Blood. More than ASOIAF. Rereading The Silmarillion now. Of the three Great Tales, I have only read Children of Hurin which was tragedy personified. They are also there in The Silmarillion so I have read the "concise" Beren and Luthien. Beautiful story. Unfortunately Empire of Silence didn't work for me and I am scared to retry because space operas are not my favourite subgenre. Happy reading!
I mean if space operas aren't your thing then I certainly can't blame ya! I'm really excited to dig into the Middle Earth content that I've never read, I always hear fantastic stuff about these books.
My favorite Sun Eater character is Hadrian, no doubt. He has gone through so much and still hasnt lost his direction. Truly a great example of moving forward despite the adversities. Also, i love how people percieve him over time.
I finished the Realm of the Elderling series this year, so hands down my favorite book was Assassin's Fate by Robin Hobb. It was a bittersweet ending, but I loved my time with Fitz throughout his life.
I have a Tolkien shelf at home AND at work. I have 17 editions of The Hobbit in 6 or 7 different languages. Everyone needs a Tolkien shelf (or two) haha
I'm a bit late to commenting- great book haul Alex. I'm currently part way through reading Empire of Silence and enjoying it so far. Angel from rust sounds good.
@@alexnieves I'm also hoping to get to Ruination soon. I hope you enjoy it. I also bought Howling Dark and Demon in white on my kindle. I need to get the rest soon including Ashes of man.
Favorite book is I Have no Mouth and I must Scream by Harlan Ellison. Short story anthology but they are all good. The one titled I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream is horrifying and I'm pretty sure it inspired King's Dark Tower series.
The Wandering Inn: Vol 1 by Pirateabe is my favorite book this year. It starts off as a slice of life isekai, then turns into an epic fantasy, and then a horror/thriller that had me questioning if some of my favorite characters would make it to the next book.
Jade Legacy was the best book I read this year ! It made an unbelievable impact within the vast years within the story. All the books hooked me but this was an amazing conclusion to this intense family drama!
Wrath by John Gwynne! I have never yelled, fist-pumped and cried as much as I did with this book! When I finished it, I just held it tight to my chest in the fetal position and tried to process it all 😂
@@alexnieves So is your channel brother. I've enjoyed watching your videos and have you to thank for introducing me to several new authors. Please keep up the great work.
Favorite book this year has to be autumn war by Daniel Abraham I was invested in all the characters and Abraham’s way with words is just brilliant, really enjoyed the entire series. As for Sun Eater, I haven’t started it yet but have heard everyone raving about it, especially Hadrian and his character arc so I’ll be reaching for this series mid-next year. Really excited to see what I think of the series especially after reading Dune for the first time this year and loving it.
Hello Alex. I’ve sent you a paperback copy of A Bunch of Fives. It’s a book of short horror stories. If you read it, I hope you enjoy it. Kind regards, James
Just got through all your monthly wrap ups. Love that we are in a similar boat as I also just got back into reading at 30 years old after doing very minimal reading since my teenage years. Any chance of reading the locked tomb series? Also I saw you read King of The Wyld and see bloody rose on your shelf but did you ever actually read Bloody Rose?
Best book I read this year was Babel and the reason I loved it so much was because of the emphasis on linguistics which I find fascinating, plus the themes that are relevant today even though the book was set in Victorian times, such as what colonialism does to the colonized, how crappy women were treated in the Victorian Era, how marginalized people get screwed over no matter what the time period, how far people are willing to go to make a stand for what they believe in . . . and - did I mention all the linguistics stuff?
Best book I read this year is Of Darkness and Light. The book has all the things about the fantasy genre that I love and even the things that I really don't like. This series is a return to the fantasy of my youth👍
@@alexnieves The Bound and The Broken Series book 2 by Ryan Cahill This series is on a crazy upswing right now. I strongly recommend it. Book 3 will be published in January.
Havent started sun eater but im really intrested in starting it in January, Tall guy reads here on booktube sold me on it. So consider me in on the raffle!
Lol that you collect the Tolkien legendarium stuff while having no idea what they are. Fall of Numenor is not new content at all, it is simply all of the Second Age put in chronological order for the first time in one book, you previously would have had to bounce around between the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and more to get all of it.
I never pretended to know about everything I buy =D but it IS a new published version of it, hehe. I'm sure we'll get "new" Tolkien content for years to come.
@@alexnieves I was just assuming the imaginary friend you were talking to said that. But I might have to change my channel name to that. “Man In The Corner” has a nice ring to it 🤣
Angel from the Rust sounds dope. I'm glad it isn't out just yet, because that would have led to yet another impulse buy...
Haha I see we suffer from the same problem.
Best book I read this year is Words of Radiance. The entire book was amazing. Couldnt put it down. Love the world and characters. Howling Dark is a close second.
Words of Radiance was my favorite book of the year when I read it as well, what a book.
Hi 👋 wow you got massive book haul!! ur books look fantastic! Happy reading to you!! ☃️🎄❄️
Happy reading to you as well!
The Way of Kings, although the whole book was great, specifically the ending! I have truly never read anything so epic in feeling!
I had my struggles with the beginning of Way of Kings but man... Sanderson knows how to do an ending.
Even if it’s an old design with new colours, I still think that edition of Dune is 🔥
Oh 100% it is
So many good books there.
That Dune edition is beautiful.

Ooooo interesting! I've heard of that before I'll definitely have to check it out.

What a wild ride! Sounds like they went for every genre haha. That's great.
Jade Legacy was the best book I read this year ! It made an unbelievable impact within the vast years within the story. All the books hooked me but this was an amazing conclusion to this intense family drama!
Definitely one of the best trilogies I've read in years!
Best book I read this year: the dark forest. Amazing scifi concepts and surprisingly decent character moments
I'll have to check that one out!
"I can't get enough Targaryens"
They can't get enough of each other lol
Ayyyy
I haven't started on the bands of morning yet surprisingly the library hasn't received any copies of the lost metal yet
Bands of Mourning was my favorite of Era 2 so far so I'm HOPING The Last Metal works for me.
Wrath by John Gwynne! I have never yelled, fist-pumped and cried as much as I did with this book! When I finished it, I just held it tight to my chest in the fetal position and tried to process it all 😂
Hahaha. That ending though 😭 so good and so sad simultaneously.
My book of the year had to be Upgrade by Blake Crouch. He's definitely up there with the greats.
Awesome 😎

@@alexnieves No worries. Great channel, by the way.
Empire of Silence was the best one I've read in 2022. Currently reading The Lesser Devil and really liking Sabine. Exited to continue
Sun Eater is just so good. I'm sure you're gonna love all the books in the series.
So I am not a Bollinger but I have only read The final empire (yep that's the only Sanderson). Maybe next year I will try for book 2. 😆
That was supposed to be booktuber, not bollinger. I don't even know what that word is.
@@Catcupid Hahahaha I was about to be like....congratulations? If you enjoyed The Final Empire though you should definitely read more Mistborn!
🧝♂️ I had no idea there were so many Tolkien books. I read the main ones years ago, and had never bothered to go looking to see what others existed!
I was amazed when I found out as well.

Fairytale by Stephen king hands down it was amazing
I'm pretty excited to read it! Nothing I've read from King has been anything but amazing so far.
Favorite suneater character is Valka cause she’s a boss ass bitch
Valka is the best.
The Unbalancing. Short fantasy, good characters, great study of relationships and obligations and gender identity.
Haven't heard of that but I'm glad you liked it
