- One of my favorite cars as a child. I still today love the style of this car. A classic. These were such dependable little cars too. Pete Hanson provides the voice over here who was Mr. Plymouth and also a member of the General Hospital day time drama cast
I would proudly own AND drive this Car over ANY Car built today!💕
My first car was a ‘60 Plymouth Valiant, 170 slant six with a 3 speed floor mounted shift. LOVED that car!!
My dad had the same car. He loved it
Back when SF was perhaps the nicest city in the world. How sad now.
The audio and video quality of this commercial is excellent considering it was made 60 years ago.
Film and audio technology hasn't changed that much. What's changed is you're seeing the video in HD format and from a restored negative. It would have been broadcast over the airwaves and seen on a TV Set in 1961. That Technology was pretty primitive, it would have had bad sound and poor visual characteristics. Any Film from the same time period would be the same......
I would love to have a 1961 Valiant hardtop.
Bring them back!
In 1962 I got a job mowing a small cemetery near our house. The Pastor of the church drove a white four door and the thing I remember most is it had a floor mounted gearshift for the transmission.
Would like to have a station wagon They look pretty neat
I always wanted one!
I have a 60 & 61 Valiant Suburban, and I still get stopped all the time by people asking questions. Hate when I have to eventually stop and get gas.
always wanted one of these
I bought in Melbourne VIC Australia, a 61 model but they shipped the 1962 model. Loved the Valiant even more without the fake spare on the boot.
Great! My Daddy had a coupe.
My dad had a white 1961 Plymouth Valiant 2 door back in the late '60s. It had the straight six and a pushbutton automatic. He got rid of it when the transmission went out. It had a fake spare tire carrier on the trunk lid. I was around 10 at the time. I've wanted one ever since. I've never seen another one, except in pictures and video. I would be willing to pay a pretty penny for one in good condition. I suspect there are very few left.
I would love to get a 2dr or wagon version of one of these!
Love it
I don't think the Valiant was a Plymouth until 1962...
I would like to have one. Here in the east they rust. I just missed a wagon a couple of months ago.
170 leanen tower of power.
FCAU needs to revive this brand
Chrysler is dying and they need help really bad
Mamie Doud Eisenhower owned a 1962 Plymouth Valiant.
Mamie Eisenhower was frumpy and so was the 61 valiant. 😂
hi i looking for parts to this car in san fransico do you know where i can buy parts with delivery?
Weird Looking Car Style for Both 1961 Plymouth Valiant & Dodge Lancer, As well as the 1962 Models!
I always loved the style of these cars and clearly, they sold like hot cakes so at the time, people liked them....not sure I agree at all that it's weird? It's different than today's cars for sure. The 1962 Lancer and Valiant really wasn't different from the 1960 Valiant, they had the style for 4 model years and sold hundred of thousands of them annually.
My first car, slant six, 3 on the tree.
Beautiful car. Much better than the Ford and Chevrolet.
I will never understand why virgil exner's designers mounted a toilet seat on the trunk and put those silly creases over the wheels.
The 4 door looks better than the 2 door!
+Eddy Furlongester I have to agree with you on that. I have seen a few over the years that I think are better in a four door. 1960 Impala for example.
It was a two door done on the cheap...same body panels and roof as the four door....which is why it looks a little clumsy, the actual doors and windows being the only change.
Yes I agree.
👍🏻🇦🇺
1:47.
Won't stand up to San Fran salt air lol
I love these valiants. Well any valiant. Check out my video of a 61 valiant I found at the wreckers.
