      Me to mate and yes I am 55 😂 I have only done 160 miles but me and the wife are off to wales in May so I will get my 600 miles in for its first service. And then Ireland in July. It is the first BMW Adventure I have had and it is a brilliant bike especially for me and the wife for doing long tours on. We are hoping to take it to the Norway to the Artic circle next year 🤞so for us it is the perfect bike. I still have my 1400 gsx which I have done a lot of touring on. But it was time to get something a bit more suitable for us. It’s a shame the other bikers do not want acknowledge you What is that about we are all bikers no mater what we ride. And it can certainly keep up with a lot of sports bikes. I went for the 1250 instead because it looks like adventure with its big present. I now the 1300 GS is not the adventure but it looked too small when we were both sat on it. It just did not look right for us two. But it is a brilliant bike but too many issue at the moment with it been a new version.

      I have ridden different motorcycles since the 90's and got my R1250 GSA last year. Thought about waiting for the R1300 but the increased price and untested technologies put me off. No regret about buying the R1250, probably the best all-rounder I have ever ridden. I am too old to crouch on a sports bike, and a cruiser is a pain in my back and butt on long rides. This upright riding position and panniers are just great for coffee runs. 😬

    I rode nothing but superbike sports bikes for over 35yrs, you name it, I’ve had most of them. I’ve done club racing and scratched all itches but now I’m on my 4th GSA (my latest is a 24 plate GSA Trophy) and am now enjoying motorcycling from a whole new perspective. It was also a huge novelty to me to able to carry luggage and actually get to see the scenery.

      No doubt! I started on 2 stroke dirt bikes then had 5 race bikes and did the track thing as well. Now on my 2nd GS a 2022 R 1250 GS 40th. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Plenty fast super comfortable. Road from Connecticut to Maine with the Mrs. What an amazing experience! My buddy has a Harley Street Glide. Took my R 1250 GS for a ride last year. He now has the 2024 R 1300 GS absolutely loves the bike. Wants to tour the world now LOL! Can't put the GS experience into words you gotta own one! Me and my buddy will be doing a ride to Canada this summer!

    I was 49 when I got my first GSA but only 24 when I bought a 1979 R100RT. I got some of the old man’s bike stuff but it was great and led to many more. My 2014 1200 GSA would get 67 mpg with my mix of town, A roads and M way which is amazing. My Africa Twin and 890 Adventure not quite as good despite lower power, weight and better aerodynamics. I still hanker for a GSA though hence watching your video….. I’m 65 now.

      @@BikeLikeMike92 That’s the problem! I have a Husky 701 which is the diametrical opposite but I love its light and skinny feel. What I miss is the GSA’s presence and planted feel. Around town (and that’s much of my riding) the GSA is just too wide and one reason I went for the ATAS first (bad choice) and 890 next. Better but the Husky is 60 kg less than that.

    I have owned 2 GS and recently bought the adventure. It’s the best all round bike on the market. The white square on the dash that you didn’t know what it was shows you the speed for the area you are in if connected to the BMW connected ride App.

    Mike, just a small clarification on the Mode settings. Mode (Eco, Rain, Road, Dynamic, Dynamic Pro, Enduro, Enduro Pro) affects not only pre-load/damping of suspension, it also affects throttle sensitivty and ratio of front to rear brake linkage. For example, rain mode = max rear brake linkage ratio, mellowest throttle response and softer suspension. Conversely, Enduro Pro mode = minimum rear brake linkage ratio, most responsive throttle, and stiffer suspension. Great video, fantastic bike, my friend.

Saved 4k and that was on the diff between the 1250 GSA and the 1300 GS. I imagine the 1300 GSA will be $$$

    I owned hayabusas exclusively, then stopped riding for 10 years, 4 days ago bought the 2024 R1250GSA Triple Black. First time ridong an adventure with all those high tech specs. The bike is beyond amazing. My only issue, even though i am 194cm tall, is clearing the rear seat with my leg when getting on/off.. any advice from adventure bike experts? The salesman suggested i stand with my left foot on the left peg, then get on, but i am scared lol (seat is on low, the suspension as well). Is the peg and kickstand strong enough to handle that "pressure" on them?

      hi, I'm writing with the translator, I hope there won't be any big errors.. .. it seems that water penetrates the cardan through the boot if you wash the motorbike with a high pressure washer.
      furthermore, condensation appears to form if you cross river fords. the engineers' solution was to insert a vent that allows the water to exit but not to enter. I recommend having the cardan shaft checked and greased at every service.

    • @BikeLikeMike92
      @BikeLikeMike92  6 месяцев назад +1

      Well the suspension at those speeds is still very plush. But you might get some pins and needles in the hands as the vibrations are a lot more. I think 80 is about where you notice the vibes. Off road - it’s perfects capable - but it is heavy… so as long as you’re happy throwing around 260+kg of bike in the dirt it won’t let you down.

    Re the rumours that the GS is for men over 50, I think the sales stats back it up, however not because men over 50 are incapable to ride bikes, but because of the fact this bike is extremely expensive and many-many people have other priorities before they reach the age of 50. Let's be honest, having a home and raising kids are far more expensive sports, and by the time you can afford to buy a GSA you're likely to be over 50.
