Thanks Albert. I think it would be better to move these personal logins to a personal account i.e. set up a new account with a personal address. You can then have your work and personal accounts both showing in the 1P app but if/when you leave, all your personal stuff is still there.

Good explanation for someone who has just a few passwords. I have almost 200. Can you explain to folks like me how to ADOPT 1Password when you have 200 passwords and are adopting 1Password to begin making your whole PW system more secure than a list so 200 IDs and PWs.

    • @minor-co
      @minor-co  2 года назад

Hi Tom, I'm afraid there's no easy solution here. You would need to save each one one-by-one. I had a similar challenge when getting started. I simply made it a habit whenever I logged into an account to make sure I saved the login and changed it to a more secure password if needed. This way you can gradually update all passwords over time.

I would like to use 1Password Family plan. I want to use it on my Android phone and Windows corporate laptop. My wife will use it on iPhone and Mac. I can install 1Password app and browser extension on my phone, but I cannot install them on my corporate laptop due to my company restrictions. Thus I have the following questions:
    1) Will I be still able to use 1Password on my corporate laptop?
    2) Will I be able to automatically sync the corporate laptop with my phone and other devices (my wife's)?

      Hi Marcin,
      1) Possibly, if you can login to your 1Password account via the web, you could then access everything.
      2) Not if you haven't downloaded the app, but again if you access it via the web I think this would be a good workaround for you.
      3) It'll be a bit clunkier when you need to access login information and login. The extension makes it very quick and easy to fill in login information.

To access 1P on any new device, you need your secret key and your master password. As long as you have these two things, you can access your account from anywhere. But I would also caution you about adding your 1P account to someone else's device. This wouldn't be great for your personal security.

Or What was the name of the coworker that owed you money but only paid you half of it back? These are examples of question NOBODY can guess. Hi Bradley, on your computer, are you using one shared login, or do you each have separate logins? I believe if you have separate logins that you'll be able to each access your own 1P account.

I'm beginning to understand how 1Password works. You have to give it your current ID and PW before you can allow it to generate a new complex, secure PW that it can provide for each site. I've got a lot of work to do to configure 1P to do it's magic for me.

In your demo you use a random birthday, is that what you recommend (won't that make account recovery later impossible in case that's needed), or did you do that just because you were doing the demo and didn't want to show your real birthday?
Also, if you change your master password, I assume it generates a new sequence of characters/numbers and you'll get an updated emergency kit?

Hey just FYI regarding the company…. Yesterday I migrated all my data from LastPass to 1Password due to the security breaches at LastPass, and because 1Password comes so highly recommended. I deleted my LastPass account upon migration of my information to 1Password.
This morning I did a factory reset of my Macbook Air and opened Safari to log into 1Password. I entered my username and password, but it is also requesting my security key - which I hadn’t anticipated needing, and so hadn’t yet printed out. So now I am locked out of 1Password - despite knowing my username and password - because apparently you need the security key to log into 1 Password after you reset your Mac.
I can't access any of my email accounts today. I had appointments booked on online platforms I can’t access. I am missing work. I can’t even communicate with anyone about why I'm missing work, because I’m unable to get into ANY accounts.
I think consumers should know this type of stuff about the companies they do business with, especially given how important and sensitive and irretrievable this information is once transferred into the hands of a third party - even a reputable, highly recommended one.

I wouldn't recommend this. Firstly, it would be more difficult to update your photo/piece of paper when you update your passwords. 1P also supports 2-factor authentication which really speeds up login. External drives can fail over time and you wouldn't want to lose your passwords due to a hardware issue.

Final comment -- if you don't bother to write down/remember the suggested and accepted codes generated by 1Password for other accounts (banking, email, etc), what would happen if 1Password goes down (as did AT&T just yesterday in re cell service)? Then would you be unable to log in to those accounts until 1Password is restored?
