OC is more locked up than LA for sure for jobs. LA is where people really do not want to live, especially the downtown LA. Many people leave the crazy LA area to live in OC and do NOT want to lose their job in OC, so the job market is more tight in OC. In LA, there is constant churn as people work there then leave over traffic and the craziness. OC is way more family friendly. It seems like when you get older, you leave the crazy LA scene and live in OC. OC has a ton of jobs in healthcare and insurance, which indicates, its not the most exciting job market, where LA has more excitement in the jobs. I dont think anyone hates OC, but people do hate the crazy traffic and other things going on in LA. I knew I wanted to live in socal, but I also knew I didnt really want to live in LA, and OC was perfect. The job market is I would say medium sized, not large like LA, which can be an issue if you have trouble finding something or are ready to change and there simply isnt anything out there at that time. San Diego has a smaller job market than OC, and its locked in the corner of the country, so you are sort of trapped down there, so OC is sort of a nice middle blend of many things.
