It's pretty sick. The red man abuses and demeans Chet every chance he gets but he depends 100% on him for his current way of life. He would be nothing without Chet. Chet understands this, and he could leave at any time, but stays anyway because he needs the red man close by to keep away the crushing loneliness that permeates every inch of life. The red man brings laughter, and for that Chet withers the abuse.

god some of you guys don't understand how annoying audio jokes actually are. even if you do know your setup and that someone is trying to mess with you, if you don't immediately nip it in the bud, that's all chat is going to go off about until it's addressed. there will be people running with the joke, people trying to get them to stop, and confused viewers that don't know what's going on. it's literally the worst when you're watching a stream
