      STVPhilly guy really did waste Destiny's time with this "debate"
      Outside of that for Destiny you really need to stop making all your analogies and examples when speaking with someone black about the US "black struggle" what always surprises me about this is how often you do it, and how you really only deploy this when speaking with black people. Destiny is a extremely good debater, witty and intelligent which frustrates me more that this seems so common in your debates with someone who is african american outside of the fact you often see no debates with black people make it to the main stream that are not some dialogue involving race.
      Imagine STVPhilly was an Asian guy from Vancouver Canada, would you then sub consciously be more willing to cite actual studies, literature and experts when trying to draw analogies and comparisons? or would it then also be George Floyd, Police Brutality and racial profiling examples?
      Im not saying STVPhilly was deserving of such credit, but try... atleast to give black people more credit when your in a debate with them, that they might grasp examples pulled from things other than the history of racial inequity in the states.

      You are wrong about the “warrior gene”.
      We all carry the MAOA GENE and 33% of the human population carry the alleles linked with aggression. (MAOA-L).
      Chinese have the highest rate: 77%, Europeans (34 percent) and Hispanics (29 percent) and Africans (59 percent).
      There may be a link between increased rates of aggression and the alleles (MAOA-L) but most people who carry the alleles don’t exhibit increased aggression.
      Correlation ≠ causation.
      Other studies have shown no increased rate between the MAOA-L and aggression.

      This is honestly one of the most frustrating things value this conflicts, people that don't know bugger all about military operations and structures, to the most basic.

    The story he’s referring to is a story Hila told years ago. Basically she had an administrative job in the military. She was essentially a secretary for an officer. It was not a combat role, it was a glorified office job. One time as a novelty, she went out with the officer she worked for and the troops he commanded. They went on a raid to apprehend some specific people in Palestinian territory. Her entire experience consisted of staying in the armored transport while dressed up in a helmet and body armor while the raid took place. It was basically a military version of a “ride along” people can do with a cop. On top of that the people they were there to get, we’re apprehended peacefully and pretty much without incident.

      yep and refusing/avoiding compulsory service in the IDF will result in serving repeated jail sentences that can range up to ~90 days each time. the IDF will keep summoning you (sometimes via home visits) and each time you refuse to show (or whichever way you refuse), you'll keep getting sentenced.
      eventually, you'll be discharged but it's not set in stone how many times it will take. there was also a 2009 law stating imprisonment ranging from 3-15 years.
      hila was recently done with her conscription by then but it gives an idea of what her possible punishments could've been had she refused.
      and at the end of all that, you end up with a criminal record which severely cripples the rest of your life preventing you from functioning in society. and this doesn’t even include the social ostracism that also comes with it.
      so as a 18/19 yr old fresh out of high school having to decide between that - toughing it out as a noncombatant entry level secretary for 2 yrs is the least worst option.

For the first like 3 years she couldn't even be in front of the camera without visibly shaking from nervousness. She worked as a secretary because there's mandatory conscription in Israel. Her job was to shuffle papers and do patrols with a group of other pretty 20 something girls in very touristy areas to make the country look good, that's literally how Ethan met her on a birthright trip. They've both made it clear multiple times they support a free Palestine they just also don;t want innocent civilians to be slaughtered on either side. Some folks in chat were saying they couldn't hear me, so to summarize: Hila and Ethan have done nothing to deserve harassment, they've been incredibly empathetic to the Palestinian people. Doxxing her is bad. There are some threads from years ago saying Hila has talked about volunteering for raids on the show (which I heard isn't possible and no one has ever been able to provide that clip) and I think that's where some of the crazies are coming from. And if we're honest, it's very common for people in this space to remember comments or know someone has talked on a subject and look through their old commentary to see what their old positions were. Half of the subreddit is full of posts digging in to people's old comments to determine their viewpoints or inconsistencies or hold people accountable for past actions/beliefs.

      I know of intel troops in the Air Force (U.S. so not sure if this completely would apply to IDF) who went on raids in Afghanistan with SOF. Those raids though we're generally lower risk, in and out kind of things so less of a big deal, but command cracked down on that a lot. I even use to jump on combat missions on aircraft for the adventure of it, but that came with stipulations and was also cracked down on. I say all that to say I wonder how much of the drama around it comes from people hearing "Raid" and thinking it's some Call of Duty Captain Price mission.

    • @LycanCooks
      @LycanCooks 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@greyparses3938 Yeah, in the Marines you could be intel, admin, motor-t, whatever and end up on a proper raid or patrol. Especially in the more violent days of OEF/OIF. But someone came in and said women aren't allowed to and what I've researched says they'll be in combat units, but not deployed into combat situations. Which would mean she never went on a raid. The fringe case would be if they let her go on a raid without permission. And shit like that can happen in the US military. Person X isn't qualified for Dangerous Job Y but necessity or good favor allows them to volunteer for it. But it's rare and only in combat zones. And it would be conspiracy shit to assume that of Hila unless she had actually said something. And I don't trust non-military people to hear anything about this shit and make the right assumptions 😂

    • @GomulDart
      @GomulDart 8 месяцев назад +11

      It's bad when anyone does it, or at least petty. But its taken to a completely different level in this scenario because of a couple reasons.
      1) they aren't just trying to display hypocrisy or 'hold them accountable' or something, (despite that fact that peoples opinions change) they're using this past to completely invalidate anything Ethan and Hila say on the basis that they are 'genocide supporters' or 'idf supporters' or in hila's case, LITERALLY a war criminal.
      2) They are cherry picking. The people claiming Ethan and Hila are IDF supporting genocide deniers specifically ignore the years and years of affirmative evidence that Ethan and Hila have 'historically' been completely anti-IDF anti-bibi anti-aparthied, etc. They are only interested in 'evidence' that paints the two of them in a negative light, and so this charade is disingenuous from the start.
      3) There's a huge amount of outright fabrication here. Claims that Hila personally went on a mission to clear out villages, or that she was personally armed and arrested Palestinians, or that she suppousedly served in a brigade that did war crimes, is all unfounded conjecture. No one has been able to provide concrete evidence of these claims. It seems people are taking their partial understanding and simply running with it, and filling in the blanks with what they think fits.
      Its one thing to go through someones past to dig up inconsistencies or to display hypocrisy. I'd say its a petty and generally unproductive (lol). But to do so in bad faith to begin with, with the intent to invalidate everything they say, and to fabricate a new version of their past entirely to support their perception of ethan/hila, its beyond petty and unproductive. It's irresponsible, dangerous, and dare i say evil.

BUT in the context of what is going on right now and the emotions involved….it’s absolutely wrong. If Hila had been espousing anti Palestinian viewpoints with hate speech and not being critical of Israel’s government then someone who is pro Palestinian might have a reason to criticize her. BUT, she has always seemed, if anything, extremely sympathetic to the Palestinian civilians and their situation. The fact is that because she and Ethan do not 100% back the pro Palestinian cause, that means they are considered against it. That will give some people all the reason they need to vilify and demonize them. ☹️
