As a drummer myself, I had the wonderfully unexpected experience of shopping for cymbals with Elvin at a famous drum shop in Boston, Mass in the 60s and to hear him in this interview with his easy-going laughter and stories is a real treat!!!
I heard Max Roach Double Quartet in Copenhagen in the 1980's. With stings incl. Roach daughter. Amazing concert. And thanks to Elvin Jones - whose music and fantastic drumming I have experienced at several concerts. RIP them all...
