- An Airbus A380, perfect weather and Crosswind? An unusual sight because usually when I film during stron crosswinds there is also some rain involved. This time I got the pleasure to film an Airbus A380 of Emirates during a wonderful evening with lots of sunshine and some crosswinds. The pilots had to deal with wind speeds up to 45 knots and the Emirates pilot pointed the nose of the A380 right at my camera. Just moments before touchdown he alligned the aircraft with the runway and landed perfectly on runwy 18R.

Ex-glider pilots like Sully Sullenberger and the captain of the Gimley Glider (Air Canada) are proficient at this. Slip and slide. It takes complete confidence and skill. This Emirates A380 encounters crosswinds daily landing in the desert near Abu Dabi. Its typical for them and well practiced.

Do you notice that the Emirates 380 plane is as if it is the only one in the world from the many that I witness its landing and takeoff operations?

Watch that rudder! Leg muscles at work? A Convair 440 is not much different, smaller but very vexing with cross-winds.
