(Think about rotation a 30.000 mm shaft into a 30.000 hole mm. it won't work, you need some play between the hole and the shaft) 2) If you have remove 2.00 mm of material on the cradle of the head ( at the deepest position of the valve-plate), you must also remove exactly 2.00 mm on all the contour of the head. 3) the most important, the cradle MUST be hardened by gas nitrification process only (molten salt don't go deep enough). Without hardening, the pump won't last more than 100 hours while it's design for 10000.
Hello sir actually I only remove 0.004 or less it depends upon the wornout.Its not a hardened its cast iron material,I used only a high speed cutter to cut that one.And actually is not a useless after we repair they used it and they earn more money before they buy a new one.thank you so much for sharing your knowhow too and I appreciate it goodluck

And the valve plate is very hard material, pretty sharp at the edge, so it have the bad tendency to "bite" into the softer metal of the cradle. That's why you need to have hardening surface treatment. And when I say lapping is useless, it's because it won't make the pump leak more or less. Assuming that you know how to surface grind the valve plate exactly with the corresponding cylinder block. I must admit that this part is a bit tricky even for seasoned machinist.

For this particular brand of variable displacement pistons pump from Hitachi, internal leak (or case drain), measured at the drain plug is a steady 4% of the output flow at maximum operational pressure (around 4500 psi), no matter how well lapped or not lapped at all, the valve-plate and the head are matched (new). If the head/valve plate are regrind, the radius of the valve-plate MUST be somewhat smaller. Think as if the valve-plate was a full big shaft inside a corresponding cavity (the cradle of the head). To avoid seizing, the shaft MUST be smaller than the hole. Let's say 19.980" diameter shaft inside a 20.000" hole. Otherwise, the 2 edges of the valve-plate (which is made of hardened steel) are going to "bite" the inside of the cradle on the head and kill the pump after a few hundred of hours only.
