Thank you for covering the GBA version as well! When I was a kid I never learned how to ride a bike. One of my teachers owned the game and had it in the classroom for his students to place. I used to help out in his classroom as it was an ASD room, and saw the game one day. He told me if I learned how to ride a bike he would give it to me and gosh darn did I ever learn 😂 I am as well still amazed at how great this game looks… it really goes to show how much of a marvel the GBA is. I also love the combat despite how breakable it is, and definitely was also a Yu-Gi-Oh kid… My main complaint when I replay chain is how repetitive the combat is that by the end of the game I am doing everything in my power to skip combat. All in all a really fun game even though at this point I am so over KH1’s worlds 😂
Pointing out the limitations of Secret of Mana’s combat is not only a necessity, it likely explains why spamming magic without cooldown is such a powerful strategy. One of the main reasons the combat is much better in Seiken Densetsu 3. Also, that’s a clever bit of naming in calling one of your decks “Svengali”, in that could serve as both a commentary on the story and a “sleight of hand” on how overpowered deck mechanics can be.
I love Seiken 3... its one of my favorite JRPGs in general. Also i wish i could take all the credit for Svengali, but my partner is a playing card collector and used to be a magician so i asked him for good deck names lol.

It sounds like you got a different mic or changed the set up, it sounds nice but I personally preferred the previous videos. Might be just be the beginning of the video sounding different.
I am in a new house now and having to figure things out, but i think the main difference is a lack of energy on my part. Been getting over being sick and and didnt bring as much energy to the delivery as i normally do. I always remember this game quite the bad rep, I am not really a Kingdom Hearts fan at all and I always think the card system sounds confusing then again the way many RPG systems are explained I find confusing. But you are right regarding ARPGs, they often feel like a bad version of beat em ups. There is a reason why Kingdom Hearts 2 is often discussed with games like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden because that game barely feels like an ARPG but a beat em up with RPG elements, the only problem with KH2 is that you got to play more of the optional stuff to get more out of the combat.
