We're also in the Pac NW and have harvested the first crop of raspberries, 2nd due in 6 weeks, our varieties of blueberries are pretty much done, so we journey to the nearby U-pick for gleaning, jostas are picked and frozen, and yes, Gravenstein and Lodi are ready+. Yellow egg plums and Italian prunes not far off. I hate the tedious picking of our abundant currants but love eating them with my oatmeal during winter. Skunked again on cherries, which I consider a gambler's crop here in WWA. We have 5 cherries of different varieties, but I don't know of anyone around here (Monroe area) that can brag of any consistency with cherries. In a good year, though (1 in 7 or 8) they are great! Tnx, BTW on your help with the Shizuka planting. I found some old captan and that did the job on the scab. It's going great guns now.
I am shocked that you don't have to protect your berries from birds! I have about three hundred berry plants and the birds eat everything in about two weeks!

Same here. I net mine up with tulle or the finches will leave nothing for me :)
