Great to see such a useful and encouraging video about an excellent fruit for Northwest gardeners. I'll have to start planning!

When is the best time of year to plant these?
I so enjoyed this discussion/interview & seeing his farm. Thank you both

So glad to see a new hardy kiwi video.
I’m wanting to plant on my 6’ chain link fence. About 400’ on all 4 sides. What can I plant in front of this as another layer for inside our very large fenced yard.
I do have grapes on an area off the fence (2 dog kennels) and have 1 corner of climbing roses. Only 2 plants. Should I take roses off & put on a trellis or arbor or okay to mix?
Under my chain link fence can I plant a ground cover of monkey grass or clover?
I’m in zone 9 Gulfcoast of Ms.

Thank you guys! I’m curious about what varieties are his favorites, and if he could choose 3 or 4 different ones that ripen in succession, which ones would he recommend?

For a true succession I would recommend a male + female pair of Actinidia kolomikta (mini-hardy) kiwis, which will start bearing the year after planting, and ripen late summer in most climates. Then a pair of male + female Actinidia arguta (hardy) plants, that will begin bearing 5-7 years after planting, and ripen early fall. Lastly, a pair of Actinidia deliciosa male + female fuzzy kiwis, which will start fruiting 2-3 years after planting and ripen mid-fall.

We planted two 'Profusion,' actinidia nitida (mini-kiwi.) Told it was self-fertile. It's year #5. Abundant foliage, still no fruit. Anyone?

We aren't familiar with that one and can't seem to find a reference for it anywhere. There is an Actinidia arguta 'Prolific', but it is not self fertile.
