My favourite thing about Zero was that almost none of the characters were "good" people but even with that you still want them to succeed and see who can win and what they'll do with the win.
@@vannq7785 Technically good, but he joined the war for a petty reason, other masters joined the war with a clear goal or other, Waver did it just to prove a point that he was right, he even stole the relic from his mentor to join it.
@@Delano1441 He wanted to prove that even novice mages can be of value to the mage association, which in many ways he did by being one of the people who survived the longest in the holy grail war and outlasted his teacher. One thing that makes Zero even better, is having seen DEEN’s version first. You know how it ends, which makes every promise to win all the more tragic. You have no idea how it’s gonna get there though, you know for the most part who will die and who will live as you know who shows up in the next show and who doesn’t.
You're true. I read original fate stay night vn 2004, watch 2006 anime, and after that watch faye zero. I have zero regret. It makes fate zero even more interesting.
Ryuunosuke and Caster were so fun to watch lol. I liked their master and servant relationship in comparison to everyone else. Saber and Kiritsugu often disagreed, Lancer obeyed El-Mellois every command, Assasin was similar, Gilgamesh practically made his master serve him, Waver and Rider developed a deep bond, and Berserkers relationship with his master was basically nonexistent. Ryuu and Caster were just friends from the very beginning, always on the same page and they always seemed to see each other as equals. I liked how Ryuu probably didnt really understand Casters fixation on Saber but never brought it up and still went along with everything because they were friends and he just wanted Caster and him to kill people in the coolest ways.
I also liked how nonchalantly he killed people and talked to his victims, it truly gave the audience an idea of how he was just a fun loving serial killer, unlike Kirei who just wanted to see people suffer but had more of a colder edge to him. I guess to me Ryuu seemed to be more of a chaotic "evil" while Kirei was more orderly "evil".
This show actually brought me back into anime after spending some time from watching . and man I love it so much and agree the characters the animation music and story is so fantastic. I showed this to a few friends who never saw anime and they were hooked and wanted more afterwards.
Great analysis, I love this series the more I watch. One of my favourite chapters was Kiritsugu's backstory - watching the fairytale life unfold was heartbreaking. However the inclusion of dead apostles and the consequential deployment of the Enforcers by the Mage's Association added depth to the politics of how magic is governed across the Nasuverse. Mysterious, deep and captivating storytelling.
Diarmuid was such a tragic character and I was absolutely CRUSHED when he died believing the one person who he thought wouldn’t betray him actually does in the end. And ngl I was so surprised when Rider basically called Sabor out for her leading and I find it was foreshadowing to Berserkers identity
I love how they prop up Kiritsigu and his mission as so noble and beautiful. Then when Kirei finally finds out what it is, he completely shits on it and even calls it juvenile. Just like Rider did to Saber at their banquet. Gen looked at the idea of a pedestal and kicked it off the cliff when writing this story. Absolutely amazing.
well his mission is beautiful and noble, infact out of everyone, while Tohsaka says that he keeps the same dream that they had when trying during the first grail war, Kiritsugu is the only one who is trying to reach the root to actually save humanity, which was what Justeaze Einsbern desired and what Matou and the original founding Tohsaka desired. Kiritsugu became cold and callous in his desire to reach the grail and save humanity, he wanted all the blood on his hands to mean something, everything and everyone he killed and sacrificed to not just be for nothing. But he reached the end just to find a polluted and dark holy grail that couldn't grant the wish he desired most.
My favourite character is easily kariya. The tragedy he faced was so sad and undeserved and he didn’t even have a single up point the entire series. There’s just so much this guy suffered he deserved soooooo much better 😔
@@kronobis1239 its a shame that it was just destined to be seeing the situation sakura is in in fate stay night, zero being a prequel kinda meant that kariya was doomed to fail which sucks :(
He isn't a bad guy, but basically everything bad that happens to the people he cares about happened as a result of his own choices. It's all his fault lmao. I love this show.
The most tragic thing about archer/gilgamesh is the fact the he sacrificed everything his ruler ship his people and everything for it all to lead up to this day in age and how he sees what all the current heros are and how special they are
For me, my two favorite characters from Fate/Zero are Saber and Kirei. Saber felt so relatable and Kirei was a magnificent bastard. I also liked Kiritsugu, Waver, Rider, Gilgamesh, Caster, and Ryuunosuke. I developed a greater appreciation for Kayneth and Sola-Ui's story my second time watching it, because I read the novel which had details that made Sola-Ui more understandable. On my first viewing, I thought she was just a loose woman. To date, Fate/Zero is my favorite entry in the series.
I remember the time I watched fate zero for the first time and couldn't understand very well but after I grow up and watched again I could understand each character and the tragic end
my favourite characters in Zero were Kirei and Gilgamesh (the bestest bois), Iskandar and Waver and i know Lancelot can't really count since there's literally no characteristics there, he's just a man driven by rage but i liked him anyway. Although i must say with Waver that i prefer his older self from Lord El Melloi II more since he just appears as such a badass compared to Zero but deep inside you can also see he's still the same Waver from Zero
El Melloi II is just Waver grown up and a lot of that came from the change that was inspired within him from Rider. Iskandar changed his life in many ways
@@kronobis1239 he is emotionless deep down. His feelings are fleeting, in the same vein we see sparks of emotion in Kiritsugu, but if you read the novels you can see that Shirou really is hollow inside, and he just puts up the front to blend in.
One of my favourite scenes is the one where caster is summond. I remember laughing out loud (even tho i was alone) at the child getting killed and yes i know that i probably am a monster
Another anime of the franchise that also has an amazing story is Fate apocrypha. It brings up the topic of different perspectives of beliefs, the meaning of salvation. It's a good anime for a analysis as well
Shirou is an even better Protagonist but sadly the Anime adaptations of Fate/Stay Night don't portray him well Read the Visual Novel if you want to know why Shirou's such a great Protagonist :P
Stay night does do that however the anime dumbs it down in comparison to the visual novel. Unfortunately the same amount of care the fate zero got was reciprocated into Stay night
My favorites ended up being Kirei and Gilgamesh but something about Kiritsugu made me absolutely despise him the mix of his lack of honor his under handed tactics and his goals all just ticked me off. Kariya I felt sorry for him but was so interesting to watch and I wanted him to win. Kayneth was annoying but understandable his wife I was disappointed but expected her to do what she did. Tokiyomi for me was rather forgettable. Waver was enjoyable to watch as he grew as a person. Kirei is similar to me as he acted almost identical to how I would have acted in all the same situations. Ryuu was fun to watch when he was on screen most of the time his final moments where rather disappointing.
