The engines are geared together..just like in a Chinook. Either one of the two engines will drive both rotors..it will fly just fine with one engine out.
The main fuel tank is in the middle section of the airframe (between the engines), sagging into the rear-upper section of the pilot cabin. The passenger version can be equipped with two external fuel tank on each side of the passenger cabin.
well mot quite, they were great at producing new ones, not great at maintaining them or sustaining a parts flow.. and they would still want a good buck for one in running order.. only reason they can run em now privately is because Hungary has legacy mechanics that know the birds, and the parts flow has stabilized since 1990, when things were in chaos.. still cheap next to a western bird for sure, but you would have to buy five to keep one in the air for parts, and hire a russian tech.. People have begun making parts for it under private contract, and some of the original parts suppliers are now in business for themselves, as there's a demand to keep enough 26's in the air.. someone should bring these things to the USA, and set up a full service shop, these things would revolutionize the ag dusting industry over night.. waay more practical and efficient that an ag cat, for orchards, vines, canola etc.. better on fuel cheaper to run..
Nice video! A great helicopter!
I love these things! And the sound is music in my ears!
Nice video, too, thanks for sharing!
I bet you could cut the grass with it !
I love this chopper
From a distance appears like one giant Miskito!!
Absolutely wonderful design! Are there many still flying? I would love to get a few hours flying time in one of these.
"Красные" могли, редко правда, но поднапрячься и выдать что нибудь такое.
Обалденная птичка.
Был бы мультиком, купил обязательно.
best sound ever
Really cool but the blades hang so low you don't want to be around them when they're starting up.
It is ok to approach from the left or right sides or from the rear, front side is dangerous, yes.
they just look so tough
In a dual rotor helicopter what would be the effect of losing one engine/rotor rotation?

Sound just like a damn Harley
Where's the fuel tank on these machines?
