Top work Brother! Really beautiful craftsmanship. To quote Ma Kelly from "Jonny Dangerously", " I've been thinkin' of taking up smoking,...this clinches it"!
I was so inspired by your video, that I just had to try my own. I'm sure I have loads of room to improve, but I love how simple these are to make and how beautifully the leather polishes up. I uploaded a video on my youtube page if you want to head over and have a look
The nut allows (in my experience, anyway) you to build the entire stack, using a slower curing glue, use a nut and washer to clamp it all down, then set it to one side to cure. Just a thought. It works for me
hey skogkniv, what sort of tobacco do you usually smoke? (e.g. English, Virginian, Latakia, Burley, Aromatics, etc.) If you havent tried boswell pipe tobacco you should definitely try it! (ESPECIALLY Christmas cookie for the holidays) Great job man.
Great video. Amazing what you can do with a bench drill, bits and pieces and a bit of imagination. By the way, who and where did the music come from? Loved it. All the best.
Because I am not interested in pot smoking, or promoting it. If that is what an individual wants to do that is their personal business. They can keep it to themselves.
Yes they are carriage bolts. You have to mill off the corners under the head and flatten out the top of course, but carriage bolts seem to be the best fit to the bill so far for this kind of tamper.
Why do that when I have a vise that allows me to do it faster and more efficiently. I would hate to screw and unscrew the nut over and over. Not to mention the risk of glue getting in a thread and curing before you can unscrew it.
Well they come in the 'don't need but really want to own' category. Thanks for showing how you did that.
Very inventive woodwork! I see this a way around my not having a lathe problem. Thanks for sharing! Pipe on!
Nice craftmanship.. Never a dull video. I saw some nice shortcuts today.

I have to say, these are simply amazing tampers! Very awesome
I've done some like that, using a bolt, with wood and bone. Looks great..... thanks for sharing, great vid
Sounds like a carriage bolt. Smart choice! Looks amazing man
Nice pieces, quite ingenious and simple manufacturing process. Congrats!
Good hobby and smart practical DIY thinking
Very nicely done.

fantastic work, you're a hell of a craftsman!
Awesome tampers!!!! Great idea. I will definitely have to try this.
Those are excellent.
Lief those came out Extremely nice. Well done man, I bet they get picked up very quick!
You do what you do, I do what I do. I like to work fast, I use glue that lets me do it. No big deal. Food for thought though.
Nice tampers man!
I'm diggin the super skog shirt too!
Thank you for sharing
Fun crafting and professional results!
Have you ever used a temporary washer and nut on the opposite end of the carriage bolt as a clamp to hold the stack until the glue sets up ?

Nice Skog!
Friggin killer Skog!
Pretty clever solution to not having a lathe. :)
Very nice work 😊

The bolt used appeared to me to be a carriage bolt. They have no slots or hex sides and were used as the name implies in cart, wagon, and carriages.

Very cool. God bless. John
What's the name of the first song in the video?
Really cool dude!
BCUSA brother, who's music is that in the beginning? Great vids man! Keep up the great work.

Where do you get the redline spacers ?
nice work
I keep thinking the birch bark and antler would be really nice fero rod handle.
What do you use to sand/ polish the stainless steel?
Just sandpaper man. Low grit up to high grit.
Is that beeswax you rub on it around the 10:20 marker?
Brett Tickle i think it probably was beeswax. I’m a leather worker and i use it to polish the edges of my leather.
