  • @manthetan1009
    @manthetan1009 Год назад +102

Okay, I did this last time with a detailed breakdown of each team. But before that, I will say, having more 'options' for mega evolving isn't the best choice. In competitive and gameplay mechanics, to mega evolve, the pokemon must be holding it's specific mega stone (except rayquaza). Meaning, the ones you don't mega evolve are missing out on have really good held items i.e. leftovers, choice items, berries, focus sash, etc. I know mega's are cool but it's not practical in a competitive standpoint. But now, moving on to the actual teams.
Shanks, has a really solid type synergy with switching. Having a good fire/water/grass core is always good. For single battles, you have good entry hazard via stealth rock and sticky web setup as well as hazard removal with defog. Dhelmise can also remove hazards with rapid spin and block opposing rapid spinners. For double battles or VGC, you have 2 tailwind users for speed control PLUS any opposing trick room teams, you have mega Camerupt and Dhelmise to be slow enough to act well against those teams. Gyarados in Scarlet/Violet is actually still a popular pick for intimidate support. Overall, a very good team with a major flying and rock weakness but hey, even the best teams can't win every game.
Kaido. This team looks interesting. For positives, there are 3 pokemon weak to ground and 3 that are immune to it (if weezing has levitate). However, you also have a major weakness to opposing dragon and ice moves. And the synergy pretty much ends with the first statement. If you have charizard Y and set the sun, Rayquaza is going to negate that and you're going to weaken Aggron if the sun is up, boosting fire type moves. And you have nobody else to take advantage of the sun as Dracozolt has sand-rush as a preferred ability. I do love Dragalge, I really do, but there's a reason it's not used very much. It's weak to ground, ice, dragon, and psychic while also being too slow to ever attack first. Cool thing about the galarian fossil pokemon is that they are based on British paleontologists who put fossils together incorrectly so in the game, you take different fossil parts and can mix and match to make 4 different monstrosities. Overall, Kaido's team is meh. I think Spinda would have fit thematically.
Big mom. The team is definitely geared towards singles and not doubles. Snorlax, Appltun, Alcremie, and rotom are all very defensive and would be good at chipping away at the opponent. Once they are weakened enough, you can shell smash with Polteageist and sweep through the rest of their team. It may be very hard to pull off, but it can work. Regigigigigas is another story. It has only ever been good in VGC doubles when paired with galarian weezing because of it's neutralizing gas ability to just get rid of slow start. It only had that niche for a while but other than that, it's not that good. Overall, the team has reliable recovery like rest, recover, and wish which could make it an annoying team to take out. And there are no blaring type weaknesses like Shanks' and Kaido's team. Blissey over regigigas and you're on your way to a major stall team.
Whitebeard has a solid team. It may not look like it first glance, but there's some potential. There is a large weakness to fighting but you do have a resist in heracross and a ghost immunity. There is a big weakness to fairy and you don't have any resists to that either. Slaking is too predictable with it's horrible ability Truant. You said zygarde might not be that good but it is insanely bulky and can set up dragon dances or coil to become even stronger. The other thing I noticed with this team is that they are all physical attackers. If you run into a lot of physically defensive pokemon, you're going to have a hard time. Looking at what I just wrote, there might not be much potential actually. This team is below average at best. Sorry Whitebeard, please don't kill me. Kingambit (the new evolution to bisharp) has an epic stache as well. Thinking of that, it could have fit on Big Mom's team with the chess theme.
Blackbeard. Oh boy, where do I start? Um, this team does boast a lot of resistances and immunities to common psychic moves, ghosts, and opposing dark types. Fighting types really mess you up if they get rid of aerodactyl and Gengar which isn't hard because this teams defenses are paper thin. It's definitely a hyper offense team with speed and power, just no bulk (haha, kinda like blackbeard taking pain). It's the same deal with Fairy types and bug types, a lot of weaknesses to those with not enough bulk to really resist. So there you have it, Blackbeard loses to bugs. Darkrai had it's signature move Dark Void nerfed, so it's basically useless. Oh well, it was good knowin' ya Teach.
Luffy. Man, the teams seem to be getting worse actually. Similar to blackbeard, there isn't a good defensive backbone to this team aside from Rillaboom and Solgaleo. Surprising you have at least one resist to every type except 6 of them rest on poor Solgaleo. Only major weakness is ground and flying which Rillaboom's grassy terrain helps weaken earthquake. With this team, I can see it putting in work, chipping away at the opponents with fake out and u-turn/volt switch for momentum. Pawmot also gets revival blessing to bring someone back to life once. This would be a fun offensive team, but not very viable competitively. One more note, I think Deoxys would also fit Luffy since it has different form changes like defense (gear 4), speed (snake man) etc.
Buggy D. Clown. You had me until Brionne. I think Primarina would have worked better but that's just me. Gholdengo would have been great as it's a completely broken pokemon and is based off of gold coins and Buggy likes treasure. But the team is actually solid if you had better versions of the current pokemon. Mr. Mime is bulkier with eviolite and faster than Mr. Rime. In a different world blacephalon is an ultrabeast based off of Pennywise. So besides Arceus, This team is pretty good in a lower tier in singles with hazard setup and removal. The team is weak to rock, but Copperajah and Brionne hit it for super effective. Not to mention Arceus learns most if not all coverage moves and can become any type with the right plate. We can all agree that this is the PERFECT team for the one true Pirate King.
Thank you Tekking, this was a lot of fun writing this report on pokemon. And I'm grateful to anyone who actually read this long post. I can't wait for the next one!

    Additional Honorable Mentions:
    Shanks:
Perrserker: known as the Viking Pokemon and is a steel type. Aligns well with the Red Hair pirates Viking theme and the steel typing can also represent his skill with the blade.
Gallade: a fighting/psychic type that is known to be heroic & honorable much like Shanks. Also the typing makes sense as Gallade can learn moves like Psycho Cut and other cutting-esque moves while being Psychic which can play into his Haki abilities
Zangoose: a normal type pokemon with slashing type moves and a scar type of marking in it’s left eye. Couldn't be more perfect for Shanks
    Kaido:
Spinda: more of a meme addition but since there aren't any drinking pokemon, Spinda makes sense it's the spinning/confusing movement and the special move teeter dance is more aligned with getting drunk and losing your balance
Tyrantrum: a Rock Dragon type that goes with Kaido's theme of his crew having ancient/mythical zoan types
Gurdurr/Conkeldurr: couldnt really decide between the two but it's simple really, they use clubbing type weapons much like Kaido's Kanabo
    Big Mom:
Chansey/Blissey: the mom factor of taking care of eggs much like how Big Mom cares for her children/her own family
Kangaskhan: another mom type pokemon that takes care of its young and its mega evolve form has them fighting together. Much like how Big Mom and her children fight alongside each other.
Guzzlord: perfect legendary pokemon for Big Mom. Much like Snorlax being the meme for how big she is and how much she eats, Guzzlord is the epitomy of gluttony and is a much better fit than Regigigas
    Whitebeard:
Rhyperior: A solid Ground/rock type that follows that bruiser-type theme. Can learn Earthquake
Machamp: an absolute pure fighting type with the skill Guts. This essentially ups the attack stat while injured and let's face it, even with a hole in his Chest Whitebeard was still damn near impossible to take down
Drampa: A normal/Dragon type that is the essentialy the grampa pokemon. It kinda has a white mustache and is known to be kind and gentle until angered
    Blackbeard:
Tyranitar: A Dark/Rock type that is bulky/tanky/a pseudo-legendary powerhouse that is perfect for Blackbeard
Hydreigon: a dragon with 3 heads and represents the theory that blackbeard is 3 people/personalities in one
Claydol: a tanky psychic type that can learn the move Gravity. Do i need to say anymore
    Luffy:
Ditto: leaning into that ability to stretch and transform rather than the whole Monkey theme. Nothing wrong with the Monkey theme but its right on the head and im sure we can be more creative with his team.
Ludicolo: Known as the carefree pokemon much like Luffy's personality and he has a hat lol. Definitely not a straw hat but for pokemon, that's close enough
    Buggy:
Blacephalon: i think Arceus is a good meme legendary but outside of that I think Blacephalon makes the most sense. It literally looks like a clown/Jester
Dewgong: to represent his crew member Cabaji who kinda looks like a seal to me
Delibird: Since his previous business was Buggy's Delivery and this is the delivery pokemon after all

This combination allows Regigigas to use its full speed and strength right from the start because all pokemon's abilities will have been negated by the Weezing (Including Regigigas' Slow Start). Fun fact: Kaido and Big Mom have an insanely lucky combo to pull off.
Kaidos Galarian Wheezing has an ability that negates all others on the field... Like slow Start from big moms Regigigas.
The "HAKAI" attack could just be a non-weakened regigigas attacking with a hyperbeam while Wheezing just stands there (or another of Kaidos pokemon like Rayquaza follows with it's own hyperbeam).

Dracozolt is one of four different fossil Pokemon introduced in Sword and Shield, which are different combinations of four different creatures haphazardly mashed together. This is in reference to how a ton of British paleontologists back in the day would throw different fossils they found together to attempt to get credit for discovering a new species. I'm talking way back nearer to when dinosaurs were first discovered. The person who revives your fossils in Sw/Sh is even named Cara Liss. Careless.

I think Hoopa-Unbound could have been a cool choice for Buggy's legendary, what withs its detached limbs and chaotic personality, kinda matches Buggy's vibe. I do like the ideas for all the teams, mine would be kind of different for some characters though.
For Shanks I think the theme is already great, I honestly would've had no idea what to pick for him, except for him being the most likely to actually be a Pokemon champ, so if I had to design a Team for him, it would just be popular strong Pokemon like, so I prefer your idea a lot more.
For Kaido I would go with a whole different theme though, which would be fossil Pokemon (considering his crew), so 1. Tyrantrum for Page One; 2. Great Tusk for Jack; 3. Mega Aerodactyl for King; 4. Aurorus for Queen; 5. Bastiodon for Sasaki and 6. would be Rayquaza for Kaido as well.
For Big Mom I think the all fit perfectly pretty much, I might have gone with Sentient objects only, but I think this covers more of her character. I might have given her Guzzlord instead of Regigigas though (not a legendary, but still an Ultrabeast so special enought I'd think).
For Blackbeard my Team idea would be: 1. Buzzwole for Burges; 2. Kecleon for Shiryu; 3. Dondozo for Sanjuan Wolf (as Tatsugiri basically uses it as a giant ship); 4. Ninetales for Katarina Devon and 5. Mr. Rime for Laffitte (it even has the cane for him) and 6 I would also go with Darkrai for Teach himself.
For Luffy I'd also say Mokey theme would be the best, as it is difficult to replicate his crew members in Pokemon
    Mokey Team: 1. Infernape; 2. Primeape; 3. Simipour; 4. Zarude (his mythical/Legendary); 5. Passimian and 6. Rillaboom
Crew Team: 1. Infernape for Luffy; 2. Sawsbuck for Chopper; 3. Shiftry for God Usopp; 4. Ceruledge for Zoro(there is no Pokemon with 3 swords sadly enough); 5. Hitmonlee for Sanji and 6. Persian for Nami (Franky would probably be Magnezone, Robin a Florges cause of her Hana-Hana no mi, Brook probably be a Dusclops or Duskull and Jinbei sadly doesn't have a good Pokemon for him as he is a whaleshark, but the next best thing would be Urshifu for Fishman Karate)
For Buggy I would also go with a circus theme and I think pretty much all of these work out extremly well for Buggy. Might change Arceus with Victin (As only God Usopp may have god), but I think Victini works out quite well since it's lore is basically "Whoeve has this Pokemon on their team, just wins." It just grants Victory to whomst ever that has it, which I think could not be more fitting for Buggy. There is also that one Ultrabeast called Blacephalon and it is just straight up a walking Buggy dama, so yeah.

Quick aside right at the beginning, but I totally get confusing certain pokemon and their generations like Lanturn. I keep thinking Whiscash is gen 2, no matter how many times I get corrected by friends. Anyway, time for an analysis once again!
For Shanks: Gyarados, even at it's worst, was always at least okay. It was definitely great last generation though, with things like Dynamax to let it speed up and get around the fact that its only real flying attack is Bounce. As for the mega, ehhhh, not a lot of people see it as worth it because trading your ground immunity and fighting resistance for neutral damage and weakness respectively isn't ideal. Scizor though, oh boy, is it good. One of the best types out there for defense paired with a super fun ability in Technician to make weaker utility moves hit way harder make for a pokemon that's been solid ever since it was introduced. Even the mega saw success, unlike Gyarados. A monstrous attack stat, Technician, and same type attack bonus all coming together to give it the strongest priority attack in the game with Bullet Punch is nothing to sneeze at. Bonus points for that defensive type giving it only one weakness in Fire, which Gyarados covers. As for Camerupt... God, I love this pokemon, I've got such a soft spot for it ever since I used it in XD as a kid and ORAS in high school, and I wish it was viable competitively, but it's just not. Respectable special attack and a really good offensive type combination, but it's just too slow and has too many weaknesses to get anything done before going down. At least another fire/ground Hoenn mon dominated the VGC circuit in it's place for a while... Anyway, Centiskorch is in the same boat. I used one in single player in SwSh and it hits like a truck, but it's just too slow to get anything meaningful done. Had a fun niche as a fire type in the tcg for a while when that type was otherwise struggling, though. Dhelmise gets better than the last two, but still kinda struggles once again because of it's low speed. I love both of it's typings though (grass/ghost, for reference), and if you can do something like throw up a trick room, it'll hit things about as hard as you'd expect a swinging anchor to. A fun gimmick for sure! But not a high tier threat. Yveltal, though? Not a pokemon that saw a lot of use at first, surprisingly enough. That's probably due to how stupid OP fairy types (especially it's counterpart, Xerneas) were at first, but as those fell off, Yveltal has come back and finished out last generation with a solid role as a hard-to-kill tank. And what better a legendary than the symbol of death for an emperor most would fear simply because he's an emperor? Also as one last bit, Groudon is the fire/ground mon I mentioned earlier, gaining the fire type and one of the most insane defensive abilities ever when it primal reverts.
For Kaido: First up, ice/fairy does exist! Alolan Ninetales, and it's honestly pretty to look at. But on to the team. Charizard. Oh boy, what can be said that hasn't been said a million times? Well, for short, I can say it's a decent pokemon now on certain teams and was great with both of it's megas, but prior to X and Y where it got those, it was sliding down a slippery slope from mediocre at best to honestly being better off just leaving it at home and having 5 pokemon at worst. Stealth Rock in DP and the combination of Stealth Rock and the weather wars in BW were dark times for Game Freak's favorite child. On to Dragalge, and... Honestly, while Smogon's history books record it as having been OU in gen 6 because of that high special defense and defensive neutrality/offensive advantage against fairies, I never hear anybody talk about it or see it used even in older formats. Definitely has a soft spot for me though, since a blue Skrelp was the end result of my first ever shiny hunt. Next with Dracozolt, and it's really in the same boat as Dragalge where it seems solid on paper, but didn't seem to make much of a splash. Probably because one of its counterparts, Dracovish, was hogging the spotlight as it struck terror into the hearts of mortal men. Aesthetically though, we can all agree that it and the other gen 8 fossils (with their theme being mish-mashed body parts frankenstein'd together) are abominations and symbols of man's hubris. Aggron was never really amazing mostly due to its base form having a weakness to fire and x4 weaknesses to both fighting and ground, and all three of those being common attacking types. I had a lot of fun with its mega though, and while it was held back by its lack of recovery options and how terrible its normal form is, if your opponent isn't prepared to deal with it, it'll just sit there and eat attacks like an ubercharged heavy. Galarian Weezing, meanwhile, did actually have use on a meme team where Regigias finally got to exist without being laughed at for a few seconds. It's also quite ironic, considering the fact that Galarian Weezing actually filters out toxins in its body and pumps out clean air from those smoke stack tophats. Rayquaza. Rayquaza Rayquaza Rayquaza. God tier. Win button. The rest of Kaido's team doesn't matter, Rayquaza is comparable to Kaido himself. The only pokemon capable of mega evolution without a stone (thus letting it hold other items like choice band), the only box legendary to mega evolve, a dragon/flying type with an ability that negates the weaknesses of not just it's own flying type, but ALL of your flying types, while also keeping their positive attributes. Before Mega Ray, ubers was enough to contain everything that was too strong for standard play, and the pokemon there all balanced against each other fairly well. Ray itself had to create an entire new rules-free tier, and the shadow realm known as Anything Goes is still to this day ruled by Rayquaza and only one other pokemon that I'll hold off on mentioning in case it shows up later. Also worth noting that megas and GMax are only possible in the Anything Goes tier on Showdown, since those two mechanics have never existed in a proper game together.
For Big Mom: Snorlax usually ranges from okay to solid, but in gens 1 and 2, it was one of the three kings and the single best pokemon, respectively. That blubber isn't just for show, this thing is just as much of an iron balloon as Big Mom herself. Might come close to matching her appetite, too. Appletun, though? I honestly forgot this pokemon existed. No notable cards in the tcg save for one that's only notable because something else is copying its attack, no notable trainers use one in Sword and Shield, and its stats are so bad that you may honestly win a tournament if you brought it just by making your opponent laugh so hard they time out. Definitely looks and probably smells tasty, though. Alcreamie is another pokemon I have a soft spot for. Tons of customization for color and topping, and a toolkit that actually makes it really good as something known as a crit-me-not sweeper, which I made a lot of good use of personally. I won't get into details on that here, but it's worth a dive if you wanna do some googling. Up next, Rotom is a fun pokemon with a fun history. Its gimmick was unusable in Platinum because of compatibility issues with diamond and pearl, but starting in BW, it's always had some kind of place in the meta to cause a little chaos. Typically with the wash and, as of gens 8 and 9, heat forms, but the latter of those two is perfect to cook up a nice piping hot W when it's not prepping snacks for Big Mom. On a related note, you'd be surprised how good fire/electric with levitate as an ability (turning that x4 ground weakness into an immunity) is as a bulky supporter, especially since it gets access to both Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp to neuter opponents in whatever way helps the most in any situation. As for Polteageist, remember when I brought up crit-me-not sweepers? Polteageist is another kind of sweeper, taking advantage of my favorite move, Shell Smash, and the Weak Armor ability to become blazing fast and scary hard hitting after surviving just one hit with a focus sash or something. Sure Appletun was a dud, but all of Big Mom's team so far has been bangers aside from that! Hopefully the legendary can stick the land-oh. Poor Regigias. Not just the worst legendary, but one of the worst pokemon, period. I don't know what it did, but somebody at Game Freak has a personal vendetta against this poor robot, to the point where they even made an exception to the "no abilities" rule in Legends: Arceus just so Regigigas would still be shackled by Slow Start.
I'll make an extra part 2 to this in a reply tomorrow, but I've been typing this for like an hour and a half, and I gotta get some sleep.

I intended to continue this on my lunch break rather than after work, but part 2 arrives either way. Also, imo, peaking with megas is debatable. Once Rayquaza got one, every other one was rendered obsolete.
Whitebeard- Heracross is an unfortunate example of power creep in a long running series hurting some older pokemon. Starting off strong in GS and especially RSE since it could hit Tyranitar hard, it's sadly just fallen further into irrelevance as time goes on. Definitely still a great bug type and fun for single player, though. Mamoswine though has always been on the cusp of greatness, what with decent bulk, that massive attack stat, and strong STAB options from two of the best attacking types in the game. If only its speed was either high enough to sweep or low enough to succeed in trick room... But enough about disappointing mons, let's talk about Annihilape next. Good bulk, an okay defensive typing, and a signature move that caps out at roughly 2 selfdestructs worth of power? People legit feared this pokemon at the beginning of gen 9, and it's still finding success in both smogon and vgc here and there through how good it is as an unga bunga beatstick. Slaking meanwhile slips back into the trend of Whitebeard's other pokemon, as something with spectacular stats on paper being held back by its horrible ability. It won't do so often, but when it makes a major play, it can swing a whole battle with a massive KO. Stoutland is a weird one though, never really being worth much in singles, but in doubles, it's a great team player with good bulk and intimidate, or even sweeping potential with sand rush on teams built around that weather. But then the real fun one: Zygarde. I haven't been able to find too much on it, but I used one personally in doubles in SwSh, and let me tell you. That bulk, the weakness policy, and dynamax combining with Power Construct to let its HP shoot into the stratosphere as it buffs both of its defenses with max steel and ground moves allowed this thing with a Comfey partner to singlehandedly steamroll its way into master rank for me several months in a row.
Blackbeard- Starting with the legendary this time, and I really don't have much to say about Darkrai. Its singles history is limited due to sleep clause existing, and its doubles history is basically nonexistent since limited release mythical pokemon were only ever legal in the 3 months between gen 8's only world championship and gen 9's release. Of course it doesn't help that it got nerfed into the ground thanks to Smeargle spamming its signature move to the point where Game Freak nerfed it. Houndoom, though, is interesting. It's not really all that relevant now, but back in the day (especially before the physical/special split where dark was a special type exclusively) this hound was THE psychic counter. Of course there's the immunity defensively, but the existence of Pursuit to punish people for switching meant that things like Alakazam were basically guaranteed KOs for Houndoom, and we all know how powerful Alakazam was. It's a shame I can't find any record of its mega being relevant, because it's one of my favorite ones in terms of looks. Next, Zoroark. Poor Zoroark, having the potential to be fun for mindgames, but ultimately ruined by middling stats and being introduced in the same generation as team preview. Simply knowing your opponent has a Zoroark before the match starts kinda ruins its entire gameplan, but at least its Hisuian form is shaping to be really good thanks in part to having a much better type. As for Gengar, fun fact! It was always somewhat good, but it was held back by the fact that all ghost type moves were physical up until the split in gen 4 that I mentioned with Houndoom. Once it got Levitate with the introduction of abilities in gen 3 though and the aforementioned 4th gen turned moves like Shadow Ball into special attacks, oh boy did this thing take off. If you want a horror story, ask any gen 6 player about this ghost when it gained a downright nuclear special attack stat and inherent trapping with shadow tag. Sharpedo is something I really wanted to be good. Unfortunately nerfed by the fact that in its debut, both water and dark were special, and then nerfed again when it got a mega by virtue of existing in the same game where it was Mega Ray or bust. Aerodactyl, on the other hand, is something that really only became more solid (heh, rock puns) over time thanks to actually gaining usable moves. Did you know in gen 1, it didn't learn ANY rock type moves at all? And its only flying move that didn't require a charge turn was Wing Attack. Nowadays its got fast setup for stealth rocks, whirlwind to force switches, Stone Edge or Rock Slide depending on whether your playing singles or doubles, and even the ever useful Earthquake and Roost for healing.
Luffy- I'll be up front, regardless of how the team turns out, one look at my icon will reveal my personal bias for monkey pokemon, the three gen 5 monkeys especially. Infernape, sadly, hasn't had much of a competitive history outside of being a really good team lead in its debut generation to counter stealth rock setters. But I'll always have a soft spot for it anyway, since Chimchar was my first ever starter. Medicham then, kinda started off completely irrelevant, but shined in gen 6 with its mega. 100 attack is good, but double that with Pure Power and give it Fake Out? This thing could pop in every once in a while for a free 50% on an otherwise super weak stall-focused move, and then it had all sorts of coverage like the elemental punches after that. And then Ambipom is actually really fun to annoy your opponent with. Super fast U-turns, Technician to power up weak utility moves (of which Ambipom learns a lot), and decently strong attack to back that up let it use a trolly hit and run playstyle that perfectly fits its perpetual shit eating grin. Up next, Pawmott. This is a relatively new pokemon so there's not much history for it, but its a fast, decently powerful electric type that can swing games toward the end with the most OP move ever introduced, Revival Blessing. Doesn't really do anything for itself, but bringing back an ally completely refreshed is ridiculous. Then there's Rillaboom, and this is a pokemon that took a while to get good. It wasn't really notable until Pokemon Home released and gave us the gen 8 starters with their hidden abilities, but once that happened, would you believe me if I said Rillaboom just became a better version of a legendary from gen 7? Physical beefcake, an ability to set terrain, and a shockingly strong priority move in Grassy Glide let it remain at least somewhat relevant through the entire rest of the generation, and it's likely to come back again if/when it becomes available in gen 9. And then Solgaleo. First off, spoilers for anime watchers, sorry. Second off, box legendaries are always good, but Solgaleo managed to throw people off for the first few weeks of gen 7 because its bulk was increased by people thinking it was a fire type before having the knowledge of its real type hammered into their heads. Also bonus points to Solgaleo for being one half of one of the best defensive walls the series has ever seen in Dusk Mane Necrozma.
Buggy- To be completely honest, I forgot galarian Mr Mime existed, kinda like Appletun. They've really never done anything. Copperajah, similarly, didn't do much in gen 8. But with a really good looking card coming out for it in the next upcoming TCG set, card game players may soon have a different opinion of it. Brionne, as a starter middle stage, isn't too surprising that you wouldn't remember it well. Its evolved form, Primarina, has had mild success since gen 7 though, and is famous for a couple of major upsets in games between certain top level players on the VGC side of things. And on the topic of Primarina... Just look at its nose. You know what they say about pets and their owners resembling each other. Alolan Marowak, sadly, didn't get much of a chance in the spotlight before Incineroar got its hidden ability and took up a permanent spot as the designated fire type of every competitive team for the entirety of gens 7 and 8. But when it did have time, it was pretty unique as a fire/ghost type, which had only ever been done 3 times, and it was the only one not focused on special attack. I'm beginning to see a tropical region bias with Buggy, with Oricorio... And once again, sadly not anything to really go over for it. At least its baile form has a nice utility spot in the tcg as a support pokemon for the fusion strike archetype. For our clown lord, its VGC history is the same story as Darkrai, but its singles history is actually pretty long and storied. The god of creation can do a little bit of everything if you build it right, and everyone who's ever played ubers has made their own Arceus.

I think Whitebeards team could have went a complete different route. The thing we know most about him is he loves his crew/family. So why not have his Pokémon team be some of his crew.
I came up with some quick and I know I have two legends, but it was too perfect!
    Magmar - Represents Ace
    Roserade - Represents Vista
    Dialga - Represents Jozu
    Ho-Oh - Represents Marco
    Samurott - Represents Oden
The last one could be like Bisharp to be Thatch, since he has that big knife. Or could be Wailord like you said to be the Moby Dick.

This was a fun video! Here are my thoughts about your teams:
I think the best team (and my personal favourite) that you had is Blackbeard's! I wouldn't change anythin about that team! I think Shanks, Buggy and Big Mom's teams are solid; I would've preferred puttin Vanilluxe somewhere in one of the slots in Big Mom's team, but that's just me.For Whitebeard, the only one I'd change is Slaking and replace it for Wailord. I also thought that Machamp would fit in with his team too; it bein a first gen pokemon and whitebeard bein part of the beginnin of the pirate era. For Kaido, Charizard, Aggron and Rayquaza are dope choices, and Galarian Weezing is pretty cool. Dragulge is cool too; I'd only replace the fossil Pokemon with Kommo-o from Gen 7. It's a dragon/fighting type and I thought it'd make a sick reference to Kaido's fighting ability with his hassakai. You could also put in Tinkaton for that, too. For Luffy, Infernape is an awesome choice. I'd maybe replace Ribamboom with Kingdra; I thought Kingdra fitted in with the theme of Luffy wantin to becomin pirate king.

I love how for big moms legendary I really sat here and paused the video for a good little bit and actually went through and tried to think of every legendary I could that fit Big Mom. I even went through every mythical in my head, and at this point I think I genuinely thought of every legendary or mythical other than the reggies. I'm so mad at myself because that would have actually made so much more sense, I'm sitting here like oh it's probably Mewtwo because of the whole cloning and germa thing and her trying to marry off Pudding to Sanji.

The legendary pokemon for Big Mom could be Zekrom. It is the pokemon that embodies 'ideal' but not 'truth', just like how she's trying to build an ideal world where everyone is equal but fails miserably, and it's pokedex entry says it can scorch the world with lightning, just like Zeus.
