- Manuj Jindal bagged All India Rank-53 in the 2016 UPSC examination. He graduated from UVA with a degree in Economics and Management. He is an ex-banker and also was in the National Defence Academy as an Army cadet.

Most important thing about making notes:
1. Never start making notes during the first reading of any book
2. Avoid making notes of EVERYTHING - you have to decide which subjects you want to and which you want to skip - example: Polity
3. Don’t make note of everything, just the most important keywords and simple description in your own words
4. Divide UPSC syllabus into topics and sub-topics and make notes under those categories

Sir, I was facing problem in making notes from Newspaper as it was very time consuming and now I had stopped note making so I had started reading Daily Current Affairs Analysis from Insights IAS, IAS Baba and Comprehensive News Analysis from Byjus. Yes only include tid bits from newspapers in your notes ..you can't possible make all notes from there

Sir How to integrate current affairs content in static which overlaps in more than 1 subject or topic..
For example: section 66a of IT act, and other media related which violates frs and also comes under security, where one should consolidate such content

i just started my prep for upsc and i'm in college. i'm currently studing history ncert basics (because i'm from science background) so should i start making notes for the basics, when i'm first reading the chapters? because i think that i understanding the topics easily right now.

Its advisable not to make notes in the 1st reading because you may end up collecting too much unnecessary information as everything will seems to be of importance in the first reading due to lack of clarity about the syllabus and the question patterns followed by UPSC. But in the 3rd or 4th reading, you will be having much more clarity about the syllabus,PYQ's and the topic itself. So, in this stage , you will be in a position to make more fine tuned notes by ignoring all the unnecessary stuffs. So you can skip note making in the 1st reading.
@@hehe-qi1mz you have to see PYQs first and then read ncerts. But jab aap notes banao then make notes from standard books after 1-2 reading. And between that see PYQs by which you would be able to know the direction of your study. Print out the syllabus. Makes point wise notes. 👍All the best
