- A casual playthrough of Doom 2016 without the hud on nightmare difficulty, no deaths so it basically ultra nightmare.
I was intending to skip using the BFG, but I was forced to because of some major screw ups already right after picking it up, so that limitation went down the drain, though I still tried to limit its use at some points to make it a bit more fun. No use of siege gauss because that weapon mode is ridiculous, no runes because they are incredibly boring to get and no siphon grenades because they are also ridiculous.
I also wanted to ignore most powerups, because they make things incredibly easy. Sometimes I pick them up to deal with enemies that have way too much health when there aren't many (if any) lower tier enemies around.
I wasn't planning on getting the precision bolt for the gauss rifle either, but I wanted some extra damage for the tanky enemies at times since I don't have much else than rocket spam.. unfortunately my mouse sensitivity was way too low when zoomed to actually hit anything that wasn't standing still :)
All in all I felt like I played badly, though playing without a hud was quite fun. Just needed some warmup for doom eternal, which is still over 40 days away at this point.

I've been doing this with Doom Eternal. Something about not having a HUD forces you to step your game up and be mindful of ammo. Plus, sometimes the HUD distracts me from keeping track of enemy positions.

Would love to see you play this again. Especially after how much DOOM Eternal you have played.
From what we've seen of Eternal thank god the Possessed aren't nearly as loud. Always felt the most jarring to me.
Forgot there was a time when zombies were called possessed
but now they take 100 melee attacks to stagger him

DraQu was doing a speedrun of Doom 2016 at the same time as ZeroMaster, but due to an animation bug he died at the Cyberdemon boss. He uploaded the part to RUclips, enjoy how the hillarity ensues. :)

Having completed both doom 2016 and eternal on nightmare. I love the darker, grittier, more horror like visual theme of 2016. Also love the audio of 2016 too

Even though this was only a casual run (and by your own admission not one of your best) I actually enjoyed this. There is a greater sense of exploration and I felt I was watching a game being played rather than watching Paper Clip City Arizona which is what Any% is. Please don't hate me

I recently finished a UN run by religiously exploiting DKSMS and Equip Upgrade II + Siphon, so congratz on essentially doing so with all those self-imposed limitations!

Both in hardcore FPS games like Doom and hardcore 3rd Person Action games like Devil May Cry, I've noticed all the pros do this thing where they change weapons very frequently, sometimes taking only one strike with a weapon before switching it.

I played through doom 2016 for a 2nd time, recently and I noticed that in most levels, there’s loads of pitch black areas and I don’t remember it being so dark on my first play through. Any1 know if there’s meant to be loads of pitch black spots or maybe I. needed to turn up brightness? I’m halfway through doom eternal and I’m really loving it. So glad I ignored the reviews because I almost didn’t buy the game. I agreed with most negative points about eternal, at first. Then I learned how to play smarter and I’m just loving it.

Indeed. I like Eternal but it is to colorful and to cartoonish compared to 2016.

I feel that on Nightmare that the Super Shotgun can screw you because it is the only reloading weapon.
Which is why you don't reload, just switch guns

I hate trying to do the "nice and easy" glory kills on the possessed scientists. For some reason, when i go in for the double melee, i lunge to their side and miss completely. Leaving me exposed to unfair damage

I don't remember exactly, but I'm going to guess because I just wasn't very familiar with that weapon or the grenades and just stuck to what I knew of at the time.

The first few levels of this game seem so much harder than I remember. On nightmare I mean. Maybe just because I’m so used to dash and double jump and air control from the beginning

Yo, you got any general tips how to avoid imp shots? Seems like these are the bane of my existence on UN.
Honestly, ya just gotta kill them before they charge up the big ones that do 75hp, by constantly switching between Shotgun's grenade secondary, RPG and stunbomb. Those imp shots are the reason the first 3 levels of this game are stupidly hard lol
Otherwise in terms of dodging you just have to not path on the same line (the AI can predict your movement if you always just strafe left/right directly etc) but even then, prevention > avoiding is the general rule of this game

Idc what anyone says the Baron of Hell looked 100x better in 2016. Don’t get me wrong the fact that the Fireborne Baron bleeds fire is cool but he’s basically just a bigger Dreadknight.
