I’m always stunned by how many Americans freely discuss their politics and affiliations, being registered etc. In many other countries politics and religion are never discussed in polite society or even workplaces. I never knew how my parents voted (but could only guess) and none of my family or friends know how I vote. It’s a secret ballot. Some people are vocal about their preferences or at least who they don’t like but if I looked around my colleagues I wouldn’t be able to pick most of them. When i first voted i was a Democrat. Time and experience has changed how i look at society as ive had the opportunity to experience life from different perspectives. But my basic core beliefs have not changed. But what has really changed is the Democratic party. I no longer relate to its fundamental policies and I no longer see it as caring about the average American citizen. It has become the party of the elites. I am retirement age but i cant afford to retire. It seems that almost everyobe I know is living from paycheck to paycheck. I woke from a lazy Sunday afternoon nap to the news that President Biden had ended his re-election bid. At first I thought I might be dreaming, but then a sense of relief washed over me, and I realized how much I had been unconsciously white-knuckling it over these past several weeks. I hope President Biden can now have a peaceful recuperation from Covid and have time to reflect on what a great Presidency he has had to secure himself as one of the great Presidents of our time. Although I have never been a fan of VP Harris, I am excited to hear who she chooses as a running mate. Josh Shapiro has served us in Pennsylvania as a wonderful and productive governor. If he isn't tapped for the VP role, I suspect he may be asked to serve in some capacity in the next administration. It would be a sore loss to Pennsylvanians, but I see bright things in Governor Shapiro's political career. I look forward to seeing what his future holds.

When you are pregnant, your baby cannot squish into anything. Picture a hard basketball. It has to go somewhere! Your legs have to be open, so the hard baby/uterus can drop in between your legs. I woke from a lazy Sunday afternoon nap to the news that President Biden had ended his re-election bid. At first I thought I might be dreaming, but then a sense of relief washed over me, and I realized how much I had been unconsciously white-knuckling it over these past several weeks. I hope President Biden can now have a peaceful recuperation from Covid and have time to reflect on what a great Presidency he has had to secure himself as one of the great Presidents of our time. Although I have never been a fan of VP Harris, I am excited to hear who she chooses as a running mate. Josh Shapiro has served us in Pennsylvania as a wonderful and productive governor. If he isn't tapped for the VP role, I suspect he may be asked to serve in some capacity in the next administration. It would be a sore loss to Pennsylvanians, but I see bright things in Governor Shapiro's political career. I look forward to seeing what his future holds.

Now, I'm not talking about anyone specific, but I was a Women's Services/Labour and Delivery Registered Nurse from 1987-2017. No one I have ever seen in all my years could squat down with their legs together. When you squat, any squishy parts of your body, can get pushed into your abdomen. When you are pregnant, your baby cannot squish into anything. Picture a hard basketball. It has to go somewhere! Your legs have to be open, so the hard baby/uterus can drop in between your legs. It doesn't matter how fit you are. You cant make a hard basketball disappear into a well-muscled abdomen. Ridiculous.

I live in a hard water area, it’s safe to drink but creates limescale so I use a Brita filter. I’m on the Isle of Wight (look at Uk map and we are the island at the bottom middle) and we have a company that makes a gin here called Mermaid, not because it’s woke but because we are surrounded by the sea. It’s delicious and comes in a really pretty bottle

Apparently, it's not a done deal. She just has Biden's endorsement. If others come forward at the DNC in August, there will be a vote. If Biden became incapacitated during his term, the Harris would take over. That is the function of a VP no matter what party is in charge. I'm not an American, but even I have an understanding of how it all works.
