    Doesn't work anymore. Authy Desktop can't be found in the official website, and even if you find it somewhere else and install it you can't run it, you will get a "The device does not meet the minimum integrity requirements"

      So I've heard 😞

    I haven't tried it yet, but absolutely thank you for this!!! I have been using Authy extensively for the past 5+ years, but 95% desktop. In IT, I have to use MFA codes way too often, there is no way a phone app is going to work for me, becuase my company locks my phone every 10m, so I have to unlock, find authy, find the vendor, get the code and then isntead of copy/paste, now I have to type the code. Authy is now unusable for me now. So thanks again for this!!

      Have you found a good replacement that has a Desktop app? I am in exactly the same boat!

      @DataBass22 Месяц назад

      No I wish I did. I find a quasi workable solution our company uses to store client credentials (IT Glue). It has a "Personal Passwords" section. Not as convention as Authy, but I can still copy/paste.

      Is Bitwarden (paid) or vaultwarden (open source, free, uses. Bitwarden clients) an option? Works pretty much across all platforms and can auto fill forms and copy totp to clipboard

    LIFE SAVER!!! I should note that the git page has changed a little since you posted this video. The (first) code you paste into the console is now listed under option 8 (QR Code). I ran into a little trouble at this point. Chrome reported a bunch of "resource not found" errors when I tried to run the (same) code-snippet. For some reason, clearing the console and then re-pasting the code-snippet seemed to work, no idea why. Other than that this was a reasonably simple video to follow. I absolutely appreciate that you take your time explaining the steps... can't tell you how frustrating it is to follow a how-to video where the author is zipping along and make it almost impossible to follow without rewinding several times.
    THANK YOU

      I noticed the git oage had changed, as you correctly stated the code is now collapsed under "QR Code".
      Thanks for the kind words, it's good to know people find the content useful and how I'm explaining things is clear enough. 👍

    What exactly happened? I opened my Authy app today, one day after the EOL date, and nothing seems to have changed... will they no longer allow me to sign in? Or is it simply, no more updates will be provided? I want to know exactly what this EOL is entailing because NOBODY IS TELLING ANYONE WHAT IT IS!!!

    • @sheridans
      @sheridans  5 месяцев назад +1

      The desktop app is going EOL and will probably stop syncing with other devices at some point. In a nutshell

      The app is STILL working for me as of 13th May 2024 (I just synced new codes from my phone to the desktop app?!)
      So long as the desktop app is still working, I will continue to use it. That might be stupid of me though, considering it's officially "end-of-life" so might become vulnerable with lack of further security updates :/ .. right?

    • @sheridans
      @sheridans  4 месяца назад +1

      The desktop app states it's end of life when you launch. It's entirely up to you but I wouldn't recommend it

    "ente auth" is a good alternative that has desktop and mobile apps, end to end encryption and easy imports and exports

      Bitwarden/ Vaultwarden support totp

    • @natsukirei2016
      @natsukirei2016 6 месяцев назад

      @ansthanks! the bitwarden stuff confused me were to even export and import and costs 10$, i use bitwarden daily for passwords tho, but for TOTP i ended up going with KeePassXC after hours on google and i found a guide for KeePassXC in the replies to the github thread
      Its good, it all offline, no passwords, no syncing and all encrypted/private on your PC, so extremely safe.

    They will be EOL soon on mobile, as son passkeys become mainstream everywhere.

      @@sheridansOh, lol. Thanks.
      Is that true? What is the difference between passkeys and passwords? At face value, they don't sound as secure as MFA.
      I'll go look that up right now :)
      Edit: OK, I'm pretty sure many of the sites that I use 2FA for, will not be incorporating passkeys any time soon :)

    • @sheridans

      Pass keys use private and public keys, and don't require a password.
