*In today's episode of Breath of the Wild...* Quin's progressed astonishing well. For a beginner speedrunner, the clips he's shown for the beginning of the Plateau (and the Great Plateau as a whole) are very clean, even with the detours added to account for his current skill level. His movement through Hyrule Castle's walls are even more clean, despite a few hiccups here and there. Nearly dying to a puddle of malice is just gaining intel on the enemy, clearly. Speaking of the enemy, it doesn't exist anymore... _in the case of Windblight. I happened to be taking a drink of water when the old man came falling down and literally spit water all over my screen… Absolutely hilarious I love it lol
Hey Quinn, the reason you always fail the first windbomb is because of a glitch called ragdoll cancel. Basically, after shield clipping through a wall you won’t be able to ragdoll. You can fix it by trying to ragdoll once, (aka trying to windbomb) or a ragdoll fix ( shield jumping and unequiping your shield
I commented the same, didn't realize you said it already -_- but to add something about ragdoll fix: if you do a quick fix as explained (shield jumping in place and unequipping the shield) that doesn't fully get rid of glitched ragdoll... It kind of pauses it for a moment. Enough for a windbomb right after but sometimes it's annoying and the windbomb still doesn't work and stuff.... So other ways of fixing it somewhat quickly are 1. Blowing yourself up with a bomb (need to be at full health, you'll survive on 1/4 of a heart) which works well at the end of shrines because you get healed right after and 2. Shield jumping and unequipping after you landed your shield on the ground so link slaps his face into the floor.
I got some tips for ya quin! Tip 1: your failing your windbomb first try is because you have something called “glitched ragdoll” (you get it from getting skew) and to get rid of it you need to shield surf then when you land unequip your shield (you should fall flat on your face lol) Tip 2: for me, BLSS was WAAAAAY easier to control when you do a quick 360, it helps you turn and gain a little bit of speed. Tip 3: you can windbomb in cryonis on the little platform (when you have to lift yourself up onto a platform) next to the water (it’s to the right of the pedestal) just do a regular front hop wind bomb it’s extremely consistent. Tip 4: when you distract the bokos to get your pot lid and spear you can get some snackies (spicy peppers) and when your getting from magnesis to stasis you can go to the old man’s house to get a spare shield and more snackies (specifically the hylian shroom next to the spare shield and apples near the windbomb trees) Tip 5: make sure to change between both regular sprinting and whistle sprinting Tip 6: I don’t have anymore tips for you, good luck on your runs, your doing great so far :)
Tried to windbomb once and was traumatized for the rest of the day (I ragdolled down the whole cliff and died). So, this is so impressive, genuinely insanely good.

Can't wait to see the full run. You're seriously cracked at this game so I'm sure it'll happen sooner than you think! This speedrun seems extremely dense with tons of different tricks, none of which seem easy to do, and then at the end you have to deal with 5 bosses back to back with limited items and only 3 hearts, but you've already gotten every piece of puzzle figured out, and it's just putting them all together now. I've started speedrunning Celeste recently and BotW honestly seems even harder to execute than that as an already execution-heavy game (maybe not as true when talking about world record level play, but at least to get into the speedrun BotW seems difficult). So yeah, serious props for this!
I loved the Quin of the Past commentary this episode, oddly he seems wiser than the Quin of the Now… Also stasis the ice blocks and whack em back at Waterblight 😬
Quin when you use the claymore on the second swing jump so it cancels out the animation, and when you need to double hits your back needs to be to the enemy so basically turn around lol

The reason you mess the first windbomb up every time is not because you're doing something wrong. It's because of a glitch called glitched ragdoll state. It's pretty complicated but basically it prevents you from windbombing and it's activated by shield jumping and unequipping your shield. So basically every time you do a clip into a shrine you get into glitched ragdoll state... There are different ways to get rid of it but the most consistent one is, well, ragdolling. So just shield jump on the ground and unequip it so link slaps his beautiful face into the floor and you'll be able to windbomb again. There are faster ways to do it, like quick fixes but the way that works is unreliable and complicated when you don't know the specifics of the glitch (which no one really does lmao) I'd recommend watching a video on it or something but if you don't care that much, just do the ragdoll strat and you're fine. Another way that works is easily every time is blowing links ass up with a bomb... For example at the end of the magnesis shrine you should probably be at full health so you can just blow yourself up right in front of the monk while he watches in horror and you'll survive on 1/4 heart and get healed when you get the spirit orb. Quin something that might help with your shield clips is to unequip your shield when links legs are inside the wall.
