I appreciate Britt for actually using her Casios and G-Shocks. She's not just plainly stating that Casio watches are "god tier" just to pander to fans or subscribers.
Shots fired to a certain RUclipsr I see lol. But yeah, I agree. I like some of his videos but he just calls stuff god-tier to pander to his audience or sometimes sponsors.
And to become a dealer. That dude loves Casio because he needs a practical brand to pay the rent while he's riding the choppy waves of the luxury market.
I was curious so I looked up “listicle.” I learned a new word! (This is rare indeed!) My original thought was that it was a diminutive “list,” but it turns out it’s a portmanteau of “list” and “article.” (Without listicles, the YT watch community simply could not exist!) I like your list! From G-Shock to CW! Plus, that Citizen Kyoto IFL is so beautiful! I was not planning to buy a watch this year but that may change! Having been to Japan (mostly Okinawa plus a little Tokyo and Osaka) the art captures the culture of the cities represented. And my favorite Tissot is actually the Chemin des Tourelles. I have an older one, a Chronograph. It is stunning and I love it! Thanks for a great video!
Good presentation on affordable watches. I would have enjoyed your thoughts on Bulova. I have two, which happen to be fantastic time pieces. However, it is really refreshing to hear more about affordable watches.
My idea of affordable in 2022: €200 2023: €500 2024: €1,000 My income has not increased much in that time. I am looking forward to bankrupting myself in 2025.
Casio G-Shock, Seiko, Tissot are my favorite affordable watch brands. Curiously I was not a big fan of Casio watches in the past, but now I love the G-Shock watches as I want to buy them in many colors, especially the 2100 series. Casio watches are affordable and really great.
Thanks Britt! I'd also like to add Orient Star! High-end models of Orient, which I think have a level of finishing comparable to or even better than mid-luxury Swiss band (Tissot or even Tag/longines)
I think most painted dials that show a vista are a bit cheesy, but these ones were beautifully painted. The Tokyo one is a beautiful mix between Claude Monet and Studio Ghibli 🍜
This video just sent me down a Farer rabbit hole and wow is all I can say. A "World timer" watch for < £1500 ?? Titanium super compressor diver at £1100 ?? Plus a plethora of classic and everyday styles with great finishing and unique design language throughout. Definitely a brand that should be getting more attention
Gotta love affordable watches. As for G-Shock, I bought a GW-810BD-1 in 2007 and it was my only watch for close to 14 years wearing it 24/7 except for in the shower. I must admit, I'm a bit surprised by the lack of love for the round G-Shocks on social media. These days, I prefer Casio's A1000 range (I have three different ones) as well as the A1100 and a few other Casio digital watches. For analog watches Timex has become my go to brand with both quartz watches like an Expedition North Sierra with a black dial, lumen and indiglo and mechanical watches like a Navi XL Automatic (the model TGV did an unboxing of about 5 years ago). I'll have to have a look around for Farer.
I really like this type of format! All of your picks are very reasonable but I was a little disappointed that Bulova didn’t make the cut. They have such a rich and storied history as well as some truly phenomenal updated pieces. You do an incredible job of capturing the “fun” aspect of watches and watch collecting. You have a very relatable aspect to your presentations and you’re willing to put yourself out there with some wild, hot takes! Thanks for sharing! 🥃
A no date Gentleman with fully brushed deployant clasp bracelet would be stunning, and very much an inexpensive Rolex-a-Like. Also no plastic parts like the PRX.
I had a jeweller steer me away from the PRX, not only plastic parts but he said for servicing they're not that great. But I'm sure opinions vary on that.
@@richardmorris7063 I have a quartz and find it very uncomfortable. The plastic parts would not put me off it if I liked it. How many watches have you ever had serviced?
Wearing DWM5610U as I watch this. A lot of fun on the wrist. I stretched my budget to GS and Rolex over the years but neither was more than $5,000. I’m very careful in buying. As a result all my watches are my favorite😂
Studio Underdog has some fun watches. I have the watermelon. Love CW as well. I recently discovered Erebus. Picked up the Ascent Malachite preowned and have ordered the Purple Helix as well. Dials are amazing and on the fly micro adjustment clasp for under $500
Finally a video featuring watches that are literallly value-for-money, instead of the usual overpriced lunacy. (No, Rolex is not value-for-money, neither is Hamilton Khaki Field and so on.. their specs just do not justify that price. Now, Rolex as art, that is something else entirely..) Also, the name thing is so real. The watches need an identity!! Give them a name for watches sake! I feel like you should have included the new Bambino model with the small seconds, it is very nice! The TimeX Expedition North should literally be industry standard with the specs for the price. It physically hurts me seeing watches around 1000-2000 with less specs than this masterpiece of a field watch (looking at you Hamilton). Unreal. The Farer Discovery is a personal favourite of mine. I love their watches. I am seriously so incredibly impressed with CW. All I need is a Traveler GMT on their Sealander, instead of an office GMT. I would buy that thing so fast, and hopefully the water resistance can withstand my drooling all over it all day long. Very much in love with CW and so very excited to see what they come up with next. Great video Britt. Wonderful indeed!
Nice video. Great picks. As a Canadian, maybe you already know about Vancouver, Canada’s Momentum Watch company. They sold me one of their Atlas Eclipse titanium solar tool watches. $245 on a tropical rubber two piece strap. Titanium bracelet for another $50. Big knurled crown. Big numerals at 1,2,4,5,7,10, and 11. Day date at 3. Flat sapphire. 42mm, but smaller available.
I had a citizen eco drive as a beater for about 10 years, and 20 years on, it still works. Never been serviced. A real tool watch. My fist ever watch was a Timex, I still own it, its 44 years old, and it absolutely no longer works. Nice topic listicle.
just picked up my first Seiko - always written them off to be honest - grabbed a used mint Baby Alpinist- not going to lie- struggling to find fault, printed dial maybe, yet i love the Tudor Ranger so all forgiven on that front
Britt, All good, but what about some truly N. American brands? Vaer, Marathon, Momentum, Jack Mason all make solid watches for under $1000. One final note: while beats the G-shock for ruggedness, the Timex Ironman has a larger display for those of us with aging eyes.😂
Totally agree with these picks. I'd maybe consider Maen as well, I think they're not that expensive and great value for money. Though I get how including a Microbrand opens a whole can of worms 😂
My wishticle has Farer and CW GMTs on it. I thought Farer would be better for my wrist but I tried one on at the Time + Tide studio in London before Christmas and it wore much bigger on my teeny tiny wrist than I expected. I’m now on the fence between the C63 GMT and a Lander GMT. Both great brands though.
I bought a Farer BANZARE GMT which is a limited run (although they do a very similar watch which isn't limited.) It's really nice although the GMT text is so small and the contrast isn't enough and I can barely read it! Similar with the date but I have a soft spot for Farer.
So I get that price is subjective, but honestly IMHO anything past $1000 is no longer affordable. I would not have put Christopher Ward on this list. I think you should have gone with Bulova. The Lunar pilot is amazing and one of my favorite watches and is very reasonably priced.
Thank you Brittney. Disagree about the Bulova. They are a watch company I shouldn’t like but I do. Fond of Orient. I can’t seem to keep myself from taking Seiko for granted. Timex is the friend you really don’t care to go out with, but they are the only one who is consistently available. Studio underdog is my weird cousin I avoid at weddings, I hate G-shock with a passion. When the sun explodes and destroys the earth, at least all the G-shocks will be gone. Casio to me is as exciting as oatmeal. Citizen is the pretty girl, who is into me, but I just can’t seem to connect with. Farer lives down the street and drives that weird car, but they always seem to be going the opposite direction I am going. Tissot got into my friend zone early, now it would just be weird if got involved deeply right now. We are only close when we are together. Christopher Ward is my rich cousin my mom says I should hang out with. He is a nice enough guy, and he has an important job and could help me, but we just aren’t into the same things. Anyway that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! lol. Thanks again for giving us something to talk about.
Victorinox from the Swiss Army knife brand make indestructible watches. 316L stainless with 200m water resistance and sapphire crystal. Mine is my every day work watch, I’m in engineering and it can take anything!
Not sure why, but it occurred to me while watching this that you don’t have an Explorer! I could see you in a 2-tone 36mm. Some day I’ll have one…I’d like a 114270.
Any watch is a luxury,we don't really need them. I have an Omega & a Tudor Panda, I get just as much pleasure out of my Citizens & Seiko tbh. They're just nice & they're easy,no winding or even battery replacement on the Citizens. So if someone enjoys collecting Casio or g shock do what makes you happy, they're all cool.
I’m genuinely curious, without any negativity, does a RUclipsr who creates videos about watches ever feel the need to explore other topics? Since it has become your main source of income, I assume you still enjoy making watch-related content, but do you ever feel like trying something different? I’m also really interested in how a girl became so passionate about watches. Just asking out of curiosity, no offense intended!
I've been shaming myself for liking so many Japanese watches and so few European. I think this video shows I need to just stop. Curious though... does anyone know why the Tissot Ballade gets no love? Overshadowed by the Gentleman which is overshadowed by the PRX? Or is it just not as good as those two?
Why not even suggest a Smart Watch? We seem to be going over the same choices in every other category. I like watches of all kinds and buy what I can afford. The Apple Watch affords interesting features, complications and dials. They are obviously not perfect. I do not like the daily charging, for example. But they are comfortable to wear. I think bringing them into the discussion would at least change things up a bit. Take a chance Britt. What is there to lose?

A great video for the 99.9% of us that are interested in watches, but can't bring ourselves to spend big money on one. More videos like this please!
This is becoming my comfort channel
Was just gifted a CW Twelve (36) last week. It's a beautiful watch. Truly enjoying it.
Lucky son of a gun.
I am planning on getting myself either a Sealander or a Doxa Sub200 Pro this summer.
I am heavily leaning towards the Sealander!
Congrats mate.
@ Thank you.
@ I'm sure you'll enjoy either.

So glad Farer got a mention here, criminally underrated watch brand.
Great stuff Britt! It would be really cool to see your picks for the 2000-5000 range
My favorite watch channel. Thank you so much Britt! ❤
14:24 Bless you.
Glad Bulova got a bit of a shout out here, but wish they got a full entry. They have a beautiful GMT worth spotlighting.
My idea of affordable in
2022: €200
2023: €500
2024: €1,000
My income has not increased much in that time. I am looking forward to bankrupting myself in 2025.
This is so true.
Casio G-Shock, Seiko, Tissot are my favorite affordable watch brands.

I'm new to your channel and I really love your content. 😊😊
Love your work as always !
I think most painted dials that show a vista are a bit cheesy, but these ones were beautifully painted. The Tokyo one is a beautiful mix between Claude Monet and Studio Ghibli 🍜
I love Orient, their watches offer a lot for how much they charge, I have two and I love them.
Another great piece. Thank you!
The Orient one is called the Mako 40
The first watch I bought myself was an Orient Bambino VII in white. A cliché yes, but a delightful one.
If you're going yellow gshock, you have to go with the yellow casioak GA-B2100
This video just sent me down a Farer rabbit hole and wow is all I can say. A "World timer" watch for < £1500 ?? Titanium super compressor diver at £1100 ?? The date window on those hand painted dials 😱😱😱😱
Excellent selection, Britt, for which I greatly appreciate. Regards,
Òscar.
Good list, you should do one with just microbrands - Vaer, Traska, Nodus. You should also do an entire video on the “is it worth it” question.
Especially as someone who’s from the itty bitty wrist committee! I’d love to hear her thoughts on more microbrands.
frederique constant is with longines and tissot one of the best
Great list & smart application!
I’m an “affordable” “tool” watch guy. I’m looking at a lot of Islander models for a potential next purchase.
I really like this type of format! All of your picks are very reasonable but I was a little disappointed that Bulova didn’t make the cut. I was a bit surprised to see Hamilton excluded.
Love my new speedtimer. But equally love all my Casios.
Just got my Gshock Blue Note. Love it!
Finally watches for mere mortals.
A no date Gentleman with fully brushed deployant clasp bracelet would be stunning, and very much an inexpensive Rolex-a-Like.

How many watches have you ever had serviced?
my daily most of the time is my prospect alpinist gmt. just the perfect daily wear for me
Seiko still my favourite brand after 50 years of collecting watches
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
What an awesome video 🎉
Finally some watches that I can afford 😅🤭
Hope you are all doing well Britt 🙏🏻

I want to get a Polarwhite Swatch this year, it has a really nice color combination and they suit my preferences more than a G Shock.

Great video Britt. Wonderful indeed!
Hamilton didn't make this list?! By george this is a travesty!!
I guess too much of a no-brainer to be mentioned in every list
Longines is another maker that doesn't get it roses.
Agreed with Hamilton and Longines. But no swatch?
overrated IMHO
I really like Hamilton, but I feel like they’ve been resting on their laurels while everyone else is putting out new great stuff
A tissot gentleman with a 6:00 date window and a white/silver dial would be dream come through
I would add Zelos to the list. Great value.
I really like farer. Very nice watches. Definitely on my list of maybe watches!

I was going to comment about Victorinox, great watches for the price and they have a pretty diverse model line.
Totally agree with these picks. I'd maybe consider Maen as well, I think they're not that expensive and great value for money. Though I get how including a Microbrand opens a whole can of worms 😂
Those IFL Citizen ❤
A list of reasonably priced watches for the rest of us and Britt still finds a way to talk Tudor and Rolex 🤪

When I started collecting my first watch was a Bulova. Its gold w/ a big black dial, looks like a million .
Victorinox from the Swiss Army knife brand make indestructible watches. 316L stainless with 200m water resistance and sapphire crystal. Mine is my every day work watch, I’m in engineering and it can take anything!

Everyman Gringa. ❤❤
I like Fears designs a lot. They look like they cost a whole lot more. So does the Orient Bambino.
What about the casio mrw 200h the casio lap memory 200 edifice ef-305 and or timex ironman
Not First Gang!
Not sure why, but it occurred to me while watching this that you don’t have an Explorer! I could see you in a 2-tone 36mm.

Also San Martin - the DeepSeek of watches.
Gesundheit!! I too am a violent sneezer... I feel seen right now
Funny, Had lunch with a coupla DJs the other day, one in a PRX & the other asking me about Farer! They're oth pepole who could afford alot more too
im surprised hamilton isnt there
my first watch in collection is GCW-B5000UN-6ER its ultimate watch now i need dress elegant sport watch hmm tissot?

Casio Is the God ❤
Let's go Japan! 😎🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 😎
13:24 A Lamborghini Muira probably won't get you to the grocery store. If it does, it won't get you back again
Only one swiss watch brand. Apparently not really affordable...
nice!
The new Dune series release from Christopher Ward is calling me…. Not that I need another watch….
But what about Swatch?
Odd day for a Canadian to show so much love for the USA. As an American, I want to say: I’m so sorry about the jackass my fellow citizens voted for.
Apologising for democracy lol. How very un American 😂
Agreed. As an American, I stand with Canada. Unbelievable.
This is a watch channel bub.
bro come on, im here for watches and not politics
Open mouth insert foot! You think that bingo that couldn't form a sentence would stand up for the Country?
Coughcough swatch cough cough
This might be better called a "listeo" rather than a "listicle".
What’s a listeo?
Please make a video of 10 watches that you ridiculously bought.😅
Underdog should not be there morally. They sold out on the same people that supported them
How?
Allergic to Rolex?
A Canadian cheering on the United States? This video was obviously made before the tariffs LOL.
THRICE
Enough with the Studio Underdog! They're not the only game in MicroTown!! Seriously, you need to find out why you'd swoon over Direnzo and Straton.
