Before the ground gets hard, these types of homes may be the fastest and easiest way to save their lives. You see how the Russians used the containers filled with dirt as a wall .. Earthships can be tires, sand bags, or whatever can be filled with soil. Usually earthships aren't really dug deep... but they have earth around them. Eventually they can be modified like the ones on RUclips.. But in a fast hurry... get ppl a place to stay warm. Earthships are almost like basements but still receive sun to heat in winter plus if a rocket doesn't actually hit it directly.... the blast flows over it vs ripping it down.. because the shape is like a hill/mound. The only bad part is..... if Russians returned in any way... they could use them as bunkers. Which sucks.. but until then... you could get several families together to build several connecting ones or nearby each other.... get a tractor to dig as everyone sandbags, places tires etc. Tires too would do great... then the next spring they can open the top more by adding bottles or the thick square glass sections used in buildings. To allow natural light in. The issue I'd see is... finding the right direction to face it.... here we have the sun rise in east, sets in west. But sun tilts one direction in winter vs summer. Winter you want the sun facing the front of the home... summer on its back. Why? Natural sunlught to heat the home... being in a normally cold place, a fireplace or stove can help a bit. But electricity can be added or solar etc eventually. . But... just a suggestion. Every Earthship is different. Can put regular house stuff on the floor, full kitchens, bathrooms etc. But.. until they have time... minimal amount will get them through winter. After so many military vehicles trashed .. tons of tires to use.. but.. sandbags work great too... Dig a quick home and outhouse/toilet that could be replaced later... Earthships offer various ways to recycle, composting human stuffs etc... but not an immediate need..
