- My dad and I have been working on a little wind mill project out at his farm. It's a fun project and I've had a lot of requests for an update so here it is👍

About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

I love that old mill restoration
Love the marriage of old vs new tech. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
So cool! I made a 3D print model of a wind mill and researching what a storage container would look like.
Very interesting video. Never seen a windmill used to pump water before. Always heard of it but never seen one. :)
I would love to have a windmill well. So cool!
That was a really cool video. I have been interested in off grid solutions for things for many years. Though a windmill water pump has never come across my table yet. Thanks for the walkthrough.
Love the windmill 👍
Windmills are beautiful !!!!
Great vídeo.
Yeah they sure are. Thank you 🙏👍
Gteat video.. ! Love that windmill... i grew up on a farm in southern michigan... someday i hope to return to the farm and for no other reason than fun, restore the windmill and watch it pump...
Please show it pumping!!
Makes me want to run out to the country. Thanks Jeremy for starting my day right. Take care
Very cool on a number of levels. Beautiful barn btw 👍
Sounds great Jeremy.
Pretty cool setup you've put together
I kind of love everyone that is watching this video 💛🌞
Awesome video, my man
When I grow up I’m gonna have a windmill
Cool !!!
Who else loves to watch these videos early?
Jaron Zimmitti. Its nice to start the day..
Dude, Jeremy! You missed a perfect opportunity. You should have replaced the American West brand logo on the wind vane with your "Simple Little Life" logo.
Very cool project!
that's interesting you've got a cool set-up I've always wanted a wind mill except I would like to generate power with mine I've looked into turbines but it's a serious investment. enjoy all your videos thanks.
Why not just elevate the tank that the windmill is pumping into? No pressure pump required after that.
I'm not any kind of expert so excuse my ignorance but... you mentioned back flow prevention at the windmill and you said you have a check valve for that. On the tank in the barn, wouldn't it be better and safer to have the overflow below the inlet. Maybe reverse the two inlets you have planned to prevent siphoning back to the well? Kind of a double protection design? Just wondering, I enjoy all your videos...
How does the windmill and piping handle the cold in the winter?
Just beautiful seeing it and the barn. How do you prime it in the spring? Love it!
I am really surprised that the windmill makes so much noise. What is actually making all the racket? I that the gear set going under load or?
Tks for sharing! Just subscribed; My small farm has no water, I’m planning on a Wind Mill about how much is the cost? Of the main components, I understand the irrigation pipes and tank is additional. Tks in advanced for any advise. God Bless 🙏🏻👌🏻
it's nice that you combine off grid with on grid technology, but I'm confused what you trying to accomplish. now is the tank in the barn where water is continuously drain while the other is filled before it is sent out to where it's needed the most? or am I missing something here?
+Tony Walker sorry, I guess that wasn't very clear. The tank was I warm the water (even just having the tank exposed to air makes that water much warmer than right out of the ground, and the trees that my dad is irrigating do much better with the warmer water. The pressure pump is a new to make sure the whole length of the irrigation system gets enough water. Hope that helps. Cheers👍
Simple Little Life I would like to point out something if you don't mind, why not add a Jesus switch, in which the water is drained and filled continuously to prevent bacteria and moss
Do you film your own drone footage
I am curious, do you use the windmill for electricity generation as well? Especially when it is not pumping, but even when it is, that might be a good secondary use for it.
Have you thought of using a windmill to generate electricity for the farm too?
That is completely different. We have a decent amount of solar but these old windmills were designed to replace physics human effort. Wind electrical generation is something completely different. And also bad for the environment thus far.
@@Simplelittlelife even the small windmills for home use? Wasn't expecting them to be harmful.
Good information and I like the water windmill. I don't see many working ones anymore. Shouldn't the overflow be below the level of the input to prevent siphoning back to the well? That way the inlet has and air gap from the tank. Same as a back flow preventer, I see the check valve and agree with it.
