A Conversation With Dr. Arnon Degani.
Dr. Arnon Degani is a Senior Researcher at the Molad Institute and a Fellow at the Hebrew University. He specializes in the history of Zionism, Palestinian nationalism, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He is the author and host of the narrative podcast series "Hesket Oslo", in Hebrew (8 Episodes), examining the Oslo Accords, and is currently working on the English adaptation, "Still Processing." His doctoral research focused on the military government over Palestinian citizens of Israel in the years 1948-1967 (the occupation before the occupation ?).
Arnon will detail to us on how he discovered that, notwithstanding the similarities, the two forms of martial law are connected to vastly different contexts. His talk will also tell the story of how he, as an Israeli, learned to accept and even embrace the comparability of Israel with other settler colonial cases.
This academic year, he is teaching a course on Israeli-Palestinian conflict at Lehigh University.
