  • Mutable Instruments Marbles was used to sequence @calsynth Rez (Rings) for this semi-generative ambient piece. Qu-Bit Nautilus was used for delay effects, and MI Beads added granular textures and reverb. Modulation by ALM Pip Slope. Recorded into Ableton Live and added effects with @phonolyth Cascade and @audio.damage Other Desert Cities. A dawn chorus field recording and an additional melody using @thephonoloop Tapes.01 were also added. 🎧

    This is incredibly cool! Thanks RUclips algo, I found a new channel to follow! So cool and I'm so curious how you designed this piece, I never used Marbles, not sure how it works

      Thanks! Watching videos on various Marbles patches helped wrap my head around how to sequence using the module. That and a couple hours experimenting helped me come up with this patch. I'm definitely not an expert in modular. I don't know what I'm doing part of the time, so I end up with happy accidents now and then. 🙂

    I am considering purchasing another rings module from Calsynth, but was wondering what I give up, if anything, if I choose the uRings (compact version), vs the full size "REZ" as you have here. Is there something that made you choose the full size version? Wondering if there is a sound quality/performance/convenience aspect to the choice, other than the obvious space saving that the compact version affords? Awesome patch! 💯 Beautifully shot, too!

      Thanks! The main reason why I went with the full size clone is I have an original MI Rings that suddenly became impossible to tune, even after several calibration attempts. I suspect a failed encoder knob but don't know. Anyway, I like the knob size and spacing of the original size for when I'm constantly tweaking the parameters.
      I actually have a Calsynth uRings and a Rangoon as well that I use depending on the case. I use those in setups where space is an issue or when I don't need to play the knobs as much. Guess I like Rings 🙂

    I don’t get it, is it making the sound autonomously?

    • @he_nu_ri
      @he_nu_ri  20 дней назад

      Somewhat autonomously. Marbles can act like a Turing Machine and create randomly generated and patterned sequences.The parameters are adjusted by the user for note spread, scale, etc. Additional modules in the rack create and module sounds, while other modules add effects.
