- The ATRAES MicroFrog system is a custom-spliced variation on a popular SRT setup. Designed by Australian climbers, the system aims to maximise speed and efficiency whilst keeping weight and component parts to the bare minimum.
The MicroFrog system includes a lightweight Kong Futura hand ascender, a Petzl Croll chest ascender and a Petzl Pantin foot ascender. Connecting the ascenders is a custom-designed, hand-spliced ¼" Vectrus support link, which includes a built-in adjustable foot loop.

This just changed my life. I have been using a traditional frog system, which works, but is not the fastest or most efficient system. This makes it twice as efficient, and twice as fast. My old frog system was like climbing a ladder, but every other step, having both feet on the same rung. Now I am alternating like you would normally climb a ladder, or stairs. Pantin is now on order. Thanks!

Very nice system! I like it! I use a very similar custom splice link that I might adapt to your components. Your technique is great for ascent ... it would be nice to see your transition to your in-tree work system. Great video ... thanks!!!

Nice light setup for rapid ascent, I would worry a little that the croll and the hand ascender are attached to the harness through the same safety cord. For a caving srt setup we would usually attach the croll directly to the harness (no carabiner) and the hand ascender/footloop would have a seperate safety cord attached to the harness as well. Heavier than your setup certainly but a little more of a safety margin should things start to go wrong.

Do you not need anu sort of backup fall arrest system incase the hand ascender comes away from the line
That’s basically what the croll is doing. Or vice versa. Croll is his main life support. Hand ascender would then become secondary.

i think rope walker beats all systems chestbox also u dont need to even touch the rope just walk right up this has been a good system for me but to everone is different.

Do you even put load on your Croll while climbing or only in rest position ?
I will try your method but with a Petzl Microcender instead of the Croll and a Petzl Ascension instead of the Micro Frog. U think thats gonna work out ?

How do you decend?
+Karen Heuvinck put pentin off, and then croll decending
You need to bring a figure 8 decender or some other modern type decender eg: Petzl rig to get down as the Petzl pantin and croll are ascenders !
Swap the futura for a unicender. Then u can ascend and descend.
Uni needs to have its own separate lanyard to harness.
