    My wife was born in Germany in Feb. 1952. Here parents and sisters moved to the U.S. in 1956 and became naturalized citizens. My wife was only 4 years old. Her parents are now dead and she tried to sign up for Social Security and was denied because she did not have a green card, just a border pass. Her parents lived in the U.S. all of their lives as well as the whole family. All of her family received their social security only my wife has not. She went to school in the U.S., worked her whole life, has her SS number, license, etc. etc. We paid $1100.00 to USCIS for Certificate of Naturalization. We tried getting a passport for her and then when we got the documentation they said they needed all of her parents documentation from Germany. She has gotten some of that but now is getting ready to do something with geneology. She should be a Derived Citizen shouldn't she? Also I am an American citizen and we've been married 47 years. Can you shed some light on this?

    Quick question... I'm 44, born a U.S. citizen, lived in the U.S. my whole life (with the exception of maybe a year), I had a baby with my Indonesian girlfriend (not wife), and he is 1 and a half years old and was born in Indonesia. I'm currently in the U.S., and haven't been able to go overseas because of all the covid related stuff. Do I have to go back overseas to the embassy in the country where he was born to file for his citizenship, or can I file for his citizenship from the U.S.? And if I can do it from the U.S., is there any reason why I would want to do it from overseas? Thank you for any time or consideration toward this question...

    as of 2020 does medicinal marijuana have anything to do with the N-600? in fact does drug testing occur in any way for any immigration process? My N-600 is pending and the drug is legal in California which is where I live. I do not want to get in trouble in any way I am clean I do not smoke weed but it was something my doctor suggested to treat me, however as I am a green card holder and marijuana is not federally legal I do not wish to jeopardize my stay. You should be a citizen.. All you have to do is prove your mother was a citizen when you were born.. You should apply for a n600 certificate of citizenship or apply for a passport.. You will be fine.. If the state depar gives you a hard time for just a passport then do the n600

    Hi Lauren good afternoon I have a question. I have a relative who has VAWA and for years she is being renewing her work permit every year. She has a current and valid work permit that she obtain via vawa, and she became eligible for adjustment of status last September so she applied and received to letters in the mail one foe the 485 and one for the765. In the 765 notice of action it states that if she does not received a work permit card and if the current card expires there is an automatic extention for 180 days. Our question is does she has to renew her current work permit that she obtain via VAWA and which is about to expire by the end of March 2020 or this new notice she received from the AoS in September is valid to grant that 180 days extention. Remember that the current work permit she has now was obtain via VAWA and we are confuse as to wot to do. Do we apply to renew her current card as she is being doing in the past or this new noticed she received for applying for AoS is sufficient to get the 180 days extention..
    Thank you so much for your time.
    Best
    Aldo

    • @EaganImmigration
      @EaganImmigration  4 года назад

      Hello Aldo. I can't give legal advice about a specific case on RUclips, but generally speaking, usually the automatic extension only applies if the renewal is based on the same category as the previous/current employment authorization. The best way to tell is to look at the code she used on the top of page 2 of the I-765 form. If it's the same code as the one on her current work permit, the automatic extension likely applies.

    My wife and I are both American citizens and we would like to determine how we can have a determination of citizenship for our niece.
    Our niece age 7 presently resides with her mother a citizen of the Philippines, within our home in the Philippines.
    Her father is an American citizen, who never married the child's mother nor has he ever resided with the child or child's mother.
    The father upon the birth of the child provided a notarized letter ( notarized in Virginia) detailing he was the child's father to our knowledge he still resides in VA, but has abandoned both mother and child in the Philippines, in part because he is and has been married to another women.
    The child's parents met one another and conceived the child when both were working in Iraq.
    What steps can be taken to have our nieces American citizenship recognized?
    Do we need petition on her behalf?
    How is this done if required?
    Any information on how to proceed is greatly appreciated.
    We thank you for your time and attention.

I lived with him since I was 16 until I was 20, I also went to school with a legal custody for my dad. Then last year I moved out and now I am living in my own, can I still apply for N600 form to get my Certificate of Naturalization? Even though I don't live with my dad anymore. Hello, I'm hoping you could answer some questions of mine.
    I was born out of wedlock in Canada, 1997 to a U.S citizen father and a Canadian citizen mother (third alternative in video) but my father doesn't meet the U.S residency requirements (he has resided years in the U.S for 5 years but none of which were after the age of 14). I am currently 20 years old and have lived in Canada all my life. However, I have a grandparent who was a U.S citizen and has met the residency requirements but died a few years ago.
    My father never bothered to inquire at the consulate about citizenship for me, his son, so I was never aware that I may have a claim to citizenship until recently. Some more information that might be helpful is that my father is still a U.S citizen but became dual Canadian-American only 3 years ago.
    Could you tell me from reading about my situation whether it's possible for me to inherit citizenship from either my father or my grandfather and if my claim is valid?
    Thanks a lot :)

      Did you live with your father for any point prior to 18?if so you qualify just have to provide school records and maybe his tax returns and apply for a n600 form.. I had the same issue.. Came to the us at 16 , lived with my father but actually applied for a n600 at age 38 and got it. You just need to show you lived with your father prior to 18

    Hi, I was born in England in 1952, I was placed in an orphanage on the same day, I was not adopted, my dad a us serviceman knew nothing about my birth, I traced my American family with DNA, and did a further DNA test with my brother, which proved conclusively that we have the same dad, under this criteria would I be eligible for US CITIZENSHIP. Thanks

    IS THE CHILD A DUEL CITIZEN? I AM AMERICAN BY BIRTH. THE MOTHER IS A CITIZEN OF THE COUNTRY OF THE CHILD'S BIRTH. .WE ARE NOT LEGALLY MARRIED. I COMPLETED A CRBA MADE THE CHILD A AMERICAN CITIZEN WHEN SHE WAS BORN. THE CHILD IS NOW 18 YEARS OLD AND HAVE NEVER BEEN TO AMERICA. IS THE CHILD A CITIZEN OF THE USA OR THE COUNTRY OF BIRTH?.

    • @hendrixphish420
      @hendrixphish420 7 лет назад +1

      both. this is my situation as well. when I was born in the UK (my birth father is a US citizen) my father took me to a US consulate and registered my birth with a CRBA. according to the consulate, with a CRBA my citizenship should be automatic. I don't need a US passport but I would like one. to get my US passport I need a copy of my CRBA (I don't think I have the original) as well as an amended version to reflect my name change (my mother married when I was 3 and I got a new surname), I also need a copy of my CRBA in order to get a Social Security Number, which would enable me to legally work in the US. so basically, because of my CRBA which was done when I was born, I am technically legally already/automatically a US citizen. HOWEVER, in my eyes, my citizenship will only be "completed" once I have my own personal US Passport. I have gone 26 years, my whole life, having no idea about any of this until last week. I thought that I was just a UK citizen but apparently I have both. I was also able to claim US citizenship at any time after the age of 18. If I had known this earlier I would have done this years ago! good luck with your daughter, hopefully it is the same and as easy for her as it is for me :)

    • @ladyjayne777
      @ladyjayne777 6 лет назад

      did you apply for your CRBA copy, my son is in the same situation all documents done through the us embassy in London. Don't have a copy of his CRBA
