    A little late to the party on this video, but I just picked up a Kenwood tmv71a radio and started looking into EchoLink resources. Found this video, what an awesome job! Thanks so much for posting it's a great explanation of what the capabilities of echo link are.

      @@HamRadio2 Thank You. Very excited about echolink. I am having trouble hitting my local repeater with my HT. But the first try getting on echolink I made contact!

    I have also noticed that incoming connects from cell phones sound lower than RF connections, but in the Echolink app under settings there is a way to increase the microphone gain. I have not tested it to see how effective it is though.

    The thing I like about Echolink as an RF Gateway is there is no need for an AMBE Vocoder chip or expensive digital interface box. Just use a simple audio and TX switching interface to connect your radio to your computer and on to the internet!

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  8 лет назад

      I know, agreed. Yaesu WIRESx tries this, but requires an HRI-200 box, and doesn't have an app. Allstar is a bit more simple, but no app there either (although Allstar has better audio quality)
      Hard to beat Echolink!

    • @2E0JTP
      @2E0JTP 8 лет назад

      I had an Echolink 70cm RF Gateway running a few years back, but it had very little local interest.
      These days I just run Echolink on my iPad!

    Hi sir, where can I submit my digital copy of my license to echolink? I can't seem to find it.

  • @kw5kw

    I really like your episodes that cover digital modes. As a matter of fact, I bought a Tytera 380 ftom you this spring at Irving.
    I'm wondering if you have a SHARKRF yet? I just puy my order for one yesterday and it should be here by the end of September. It's to connect DMR to C4FM with no computer interface, just log into it via any LAN device to set parameters.
    I would like to see you do a video on one.

      I have a SharkRF on order also and I plan to do a video on it when I receive it. Up before that, I will be doing a video on the BlueDV hotspot for DMR.

    I do wedding video work with a colleague of mine and we recently ran into an issue where there was absolutely no cell service or internet available and I needed to communicate with him and couldn't from 20 miles away. Would a ham/echolink system work for me?

    How do you connect to a traffic net? Do you use the frequency? Do repeaters have a callsign? I wasn’t able to figure it out.

    Be careful if anyone calls you asking you to download Teamviewer on your computer. It’s probably a scam.

    • @TwstedTV
      @TwstedTV 6 лет назад

      dont let ANYONE tell you to install Teamviewer or let them control your PC with Teamviewer. They will take control over your PC and prevent you from ever
      getting control back by installing and/or injecting a command into your PC to prevent you from ever having access to your PC or its attached hardrives.
      meaning, you WILL lose everything on that PC, because when they inject a command via Teamviewer , they will encrypt your entire computer.
      DO NOT ever install teamviewer on your computer as it can also be hacked and let hackers gain entry into your computer and execute an injectable lock on your computer.
      DO NOT ever let ANY computer help desk ak.a. Tech Support, to tell you or allow them to install Teamviewer or ANY other remote desktop connection to your computer.
      you WILL regret it dearly as you WILL lose everything on your computer. Basically NEVER EVER let anyone remote connect into your computer..... EVER..

    What is the different between echolink and and any android app walkie talkie that u can talk global and local?

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  3 года назад

      Echolink connects to repeaters and you have to have a Ham Radio callsign to get access to the app. So it allows the app to be used on Amateur Radio repeaters and systems.

    • @SuAmigoElilegal
      @SuAmigoElilegal 3 года назад +1

      @@HamRadio2 so without internet or data I cannot use the app echolink app correct ? I will have to use a ham radio to connect to the repeater

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  3 года назад +1

      @@SuAmigoElilegal Correct. Echolink adds internet connections to repeaters, but the repeaters will still work in stand-alone mode without it.

IMO, so anxiously awaiting your club class video on the general, if it is half as good as the tech class im sure we all will benefit, like i said there is nothing current, this exam pool, that is very good.
